This secluded and quiet haven sits atop one of the farm's rolling hills, letting you gaze into the forest view below. Watch the sunset or rise and listen to nature's music as stress melts away. The farm is surrounded by quaint country roads, farms, and homes to explore. This is the perfect place to unplug, relax, clear your mind, read, meditate, and get away from the noise of everyday life. This secluded and quiet haven sits atop one of the farm's rolling hills, letting you gaze into the forest view below. This is the perfect place to unplug, relax, clear your mind, read, meditate, and get away from the noise of everyday life. Watch the sun set or rise and listen to nature's music as stress melts away. The farm is surrounded by quaint country roads, farms, and homes to explore. This cozy cabin is a minimal and luxurious way to enjoy nature. It features a full size bed, and has a private deck for lounging. It includes a washing basin inside and private firepit outside and faces east for great sunrises. Candlelight glows inside in the evening, and the stargazing here is amazing! Pets are welcome (See below for details). Craving a writing retreat? In need of some soul-searching, quiet time, healing, or just wanting to reconnect with the magic of nature? This is the spot for you. The cabin's lovely deck (with plenty of comfy outdoor seating) lets you choose whether to gaze out at the sunrise/set over the fields where wild turkeys and deer roam or into the lush, green, incredibly relaxing forest view. Nearby off-the-beaten path hiking to immerse yourself in nature and greenery (forest bathing!). Follow the river road to do some wading, fishing, swimming, or simply sitting in this gorgeous bucolic setting. The cabin is rustically and tastefully decorated, transporting you to a simpler time. Enjoy a peaceful night's sleep on a comfy mattress with lovely linens as you reconnect to nature's rhythms and let your nervous system rest. This is a truly unique experience; whether you're looking for a secluded romantic getaway or a space to find freedom with friends or in solitude - our property supports it. The cabin is very cozy, and has everything you need. Please know that there is no electricity or bathrooms (aside from our lovely outhouse) so you will be completely off-grid and close to nature while here. You are free to roam the farm's 100 acres! If you'd like to bring your bicycle with you, this is an excellent way to explore the nearby countryside. You're welcome to park your vehicle right beside the cabin for your convenience. If it's rainy/muddy, we'll let you know alternative parking arrangements for your vehicle to avoid messiness! Locally roasted direct-trade coffee and organic teas are provided for you to make while staying at the cabin. There's a small burner for warming/cooking anything you may like; kettle and percolator for making coffee + tea. Lots of fresh water is also made available for you and all basic dishes/cooking supplies you should need. A small lantern and candles available for evening lighting, as well as enough firewood for one night. If you decide you'd like more firewood, we can deliver that to you for a small fee. All bedding, blankets and towels are provided for you, so you shouldn't need to bring much besides anything additional you'd like to have with you food-wise & to stay cozy. I recommend boots of some sort if you'd like to really explore. The cabin is weather proof. Usually more fun in the sun, but rain gives reason to sip wine/tea or snuggle inside while gazing out and basking in the soothing sound of raindrops. For the colder months, the cabin is heated by a large propane heater, which will keep you nice and cozy! Snowshoes and sled available for your use and enjoyment getting around the property through the snow. We welcome dogs and whatever furry friends you’d like to bring along, for an additional $20 non-refundable pet deposit, payable by cash or e-transfer. Please be mindful of cleanliness of dogs on the linens and carpets. Any damage above normal laundering will be charged in addition. Please also check out our luxury yurt-style tent available for rent on the same property, called the Rose Tent.

Hawthorn Cabin Farm Retreat

We had the most incredible two night stay at Julia’s property. Everything was perfect, the most peaceful place. We had rain one night and it was still magical! We saw deer, we had nice fires under the stars, and enjoyed the seclusion and silence! There was just the right amount of space inside for me, my husband and our dog. I think out of everyone, my dog enjoyed herself the most with so much nature and things to sniff! Julia gave us everything we could need for a perfect stay. I cannot wait to go back soon. Julia was an amazing guest! Very responsive. The cabin was cute. It had everything you needed. Adding dinner was a bonus!! amazing food. If you are looking for a spot off a path with no one else around. This is perfect!! Clean and worth every penny.

Beautiful space! Julia was very accommodating and made an excellent vegetarian charcuterie board that was so so good. You can tell she cares a lot and it's evident in the pamphlets she provides about Perth County, water and coffee/tea she has there, muffins for the guests, etc. Everything was clean and felt very welcoming. Would recommend!

Explore and Relax

Wild Rose Sanctuary Farm Retreat

Julia has a beautiful property and is such a wonderful host! The tent itself was spacious and everything you need for a night (or a few) is provided. The bed is comfortable and the linens were clean. The deck has ample space and is such a lovely place to sit and enjoy the forest/field. We sadly had the (personal) misfortune of experiencing quite a lot of large wolf spiders coming up from the deck. This is likely more of a seasonal problem but if you're uncomfortable with spiders I'd recommend reaching out to Julia to see if they're currently an issue. At the end of the day, you are camping in an open floor tent over a deck so you can expect bugs! During the day we popped over to Stratford (my hometown) and grabbed a coffee and walked around, playing tourist. When we got back to the property, we decided to explore the forest (directions for getting into the woods/down to the creek/river are provided in a handbook in the tent) followed by relaxing on the deck taking in nature. We saw some wild turkeys and at night we were able to stargaze and enjoy a fire while listening to the sounds of coyotes, crickets, and an owl! Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Julia's HipCamp!

Hawthorn Cabin Farm Retreat

This cabin is beautifully situated on farmland that backs onto a forested area. Julia and Bob have built such a cozy getaway here with trails to explore that lead to a waterway. In the evening we enjoyed a fire just steps from the cabin and we could look up and pick out constellations in the night sky. The cabin itself comes with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The host also provides basic breakfast items. Would highly recommend!

The stay was really nice. The host was lovely, she left us a small selection of snacks and ingredients to help with breakfast. The cabin was cozy, clean and very private. The star gazing was amazing and we went for a little hike which was equally as enjoyable. We went with our newborn baby and dog and felt really comfortable.
