Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation. Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia.
We have picnic tables and fire rings at each site. If you have a large group, please contact us before booking to ensure that we are able to accommodate your group. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn.
If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground.
Lose yourself in a fairy-tale land. With endless places to explore and amazing natural features at every turn this experience will not disappoint.
Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay. We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions).
Please be aware that cell phone service is spotty to virtually non-existent. Also it's a good idea to bring waterproof hiking shoes or water shoes since our camping spots may require walking across a low water creek. This campground also requires travel down miles of county maintained dirt roads. Expect your car to get dusty. We are unable to accommodate travel trailers and RVs at this time. Parking at your campsite requires a drive across a low water creek, otherwise you will need to park and walk across. Lastly, bring tick defense for yourself and your pets.

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The campground was well maintained. Sam and Michelle went out of there way to make sure we knew where to go, made sure we were comfortable, and gave us the lay of the land so we could explore as well.
A beautiful and secluded piece of paradise! Access to a ton of stuff including your own swimming hole. We explored a cave, picnicked on a bluff, and hit lots of trails. Sam and Michelle were amazing. Could not have ask for a better spot for my weekend.
This serene setting provided our family with a peaceful weekend getaway. Beautiful views in every direction. From the trails to skipping rocks on the banks, the peacefulness at Red Fern was soul nurturing for even our youngest camper. The hosts take very good care of their property and we really felt that our having a good stay was important to them. We will be back!
Refreshing weekend in nature
Sam and Michelle are great hosts! Great communication before and during our stay. They accommodated our 16ft bell tent for our maiden glamping trip! We couldn’t have asked for a better location. Although the swimming hole is public, there are private areas you can get to along the creek. It was so fun exploring around and trying out all the swimming holes along the River and creek. The bluffs and trails are great to explore too. We didn’t get to all the trails, but are already planning our next trip back!
Touch the beauty of nature
An Amazing experience and a place we will definitely go back to visit again. The Hosts Sam & Michelle were great. Gracious and happy folks who took every opportunity to be helpful and accomodating. We fell in love with them and the their campgrounds. Red Fern..A must stay if you want to really touch the beauty of nature.
Our favorite place in arkansas
This place is AMAZING! It's gorgeous, you have two swimming holes (one public and one private,) you can walk around and see some amazing huge rocks, and the hosts are absolutely amazing. We were a bit uncomfortable traveling in remote areas in Arkansas with our Black child, so it was nice to have hosts that make you feel comfortable. Sam and Michelle were great.
All the campsites are shaded, with a nice picnic table and fire ring. We were on campsite one, which is right in front of the public swimming whole. It has a beautiful view but you will hear the noises from people swimming/listening to music/playing. It didn't bother us, but some people might be annoyed by it. Campsite 3 is the most secluded and a bit closer to the private swimming hole. While we were on site 1 there was another family on site 3 and we pretty much didn't see each other, so the sites are not far from each other but offer good privacy.
This was our favorite place in Arkansas.
The King's River Falls trailhead is right next to it and it's worth a visit. We went early on a Monday morning and got the place to ourselves, but on Sunday the parking lot was packed. It would be difficult to keep six feet distance because the trail is not very wide.
Perfect secluded campground
This is a magical little campground. Adjacent to a spring fed swimming hole and creek. Sleep and rise to the sound of a burbling creek. The location is in a Dark Sky area as well - stars are bright on a clear night. It is a short drive from the Kings River Falls trailhead- we were able to get a jump on the summer crowds by camping here. Michelle greeted us kindly upon arrival and made us feel safe and welcome. We will likely return again with our two children soon.
Sam & Michelle were great! Friendly, good directions, accurate description(s) of camp site, & property. The property was an absolute piece of heaven. Seemingly endless waterfalls, swimming holes, flora & fauna, etc. Would HIGHLY recommend to everyone! (And already have!)
The best site i’ve ever camped
The setting was sooooo beautiful and convenient with everything you need as far as camping fun all in 1 place. The swimming hole was dreamy and there are amazing hikes in all directions, including Kings River Falls. We will be back to enjoy on the regular. Michelle and Sam the hosts were absolutely wonderful.
