Escape to a peaceful off-grid retreat designed for two. Our charming 1926 cottage sits on the plateau of Woodpecker Hill, offering a quiet and private getaway surrounded by forest, open sky, and the gentle rhythms of our small farm. Wake to soft sunrise light and the sounds of peacocks and goats greeting the day. Enjoy your morning coffee or tea on the patio overlooking the vegetable garden, then spend the day relaxing, exploring nearby towns, or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Inside the cottage you’ll find a cozy queen bed, small table, coffee bar, and board games—perfect for a quiet evening together. When the air turns cool, curl up beside the indoor propane fireplace, creating a warm and intimate space for chilly Northwest nights. Step outside to your private patio at the forest’s edge where you can play outdoor games, toss horseshoes, or gather around your private campfire while watching stunning sunsets over the Olympic Mountains. Our covered patio ensures you can still enjoy the outdoors even if the weather turns. This is a simple, unplugged experience designed to help you slow down and reconnect. Off-Grid Amenities -2-night minimum stay – per night -Designed for 2 guests maximum (perfect for couples) -Indoor propane fireplace -Private campfire area -Outdoor games Off-Grid Setup This cottage is intentionally simple: * No electricity or running water * Outhouse restroom located just outside the cottage * Well water available from the outdoor hose * Solar power bank available for charging phones and small devices Guests have access to about ½ acre of grassy space at the edge of the forest, with room to pitch a tent if desired. Farm Stay Experience You’ll be staying on our small working farm where animals are part of daily life. You may see peacocks, goats, and other critters around the property. Our very old resident dog also lives here, so we ask that visiting pups be respectful. Nearby Exploration We’re just minutes from the charming historic towns of Poulsbo and Port Gamble, with easy access to the Hood Canal Bridge for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, quiet unplugged weekend, or cozy fireside retreat, this little historic cottage the perfect place to slow down and reconnect.This cottage sits on the plateau of Woodpecker hill. Late summer get away
Laughing Leaf Cottage
Lovely spot to relax and home base around the Kitsap Peninsula. The Jackery power unit was ample providing energy for light, making coffee with the provided electric kettle, and also device charging. The porch setup was great for morning, afternoon and evening relaxation. We brought our camp stove, and cook pans, with a stand, and it fit nicely for use in the porch area. Appreciated the large fresh water jug Jonathan and Kai provided. The bed was comfy. The daytime warmth was held well by the cottage, so it was comfortable all night, and in the morning- even though it cooled down quite a bit outside in the nights we were there. The numerous battery operated small lamps were functional illuminantion and provided nice ambiance.

I never knew I needed peacocks before now. 😂 It was so peaceful. I loved sitting on the little hidden back deck among the trees and ferns. Just what we needed. 💕

We loved our stay here. The cottage was so cute and attention to details were lovely. Great location for exploring the area. Lovely little farm stay. Comfortable bed. Jonathon even let us give those cute goats a treat ! We will definitely be back .

Charming and Quiet
Laughing Leaf Cottage
The cottage is very sweet, comfortable and definitely hip. The land is quiet and peaceful, while still conveniently located to parks, beaches, beautiful scenery and other attractions on the Kitsap Peninsula and the northeast corner of the Olympic Peninsula. You need to be somewhat self-sufficient to make it work well for an extended stay, even though it is a truly lovely glamping situation. We had our own camp stove and cooking gear, and that helped with the lack of electricity and running water.

The cottage was so lovely and had everything we needed! It’s a beautiful property with such fun goats and peacocks. There was tea and coffee, dishes, and utensils available for use. The bed was very comfortable, and it was the perfect getaway.

We went of for the weekend for a port gamble conference. After some research, we came across this lovely place! We absolutely looooooved the peacocks and goats! I would definitely love to visit again! The only thing I would recommend if you stay here through late fall or winter is to pack something warm to sleep in. It didn’t get a little chilly, but other than that, it was a lovely place. ♥️

No running water but everything else! The host has this little cottage cozied up with lovely linens, beautiful plants, and a few surprises. The property and surrounding area are beautiful. Great weekend getaway with plenty of dining and shopping a short drive away. Off grid camping leveled up! Thanks for having us!

Laughing Leaf Cottage was a 20/10! The hosts are incredibly welcoming and communicative in their messages but also very respectful of your personal privacy! The cottage itself was a beautifully decorated and curated space…felt very cozy and serene. The outside of the cottage was very private and though you couldn’t see the main house you could still see all the gorgeous gardens and the goats/peacocks. The outside area also had a cute and shaded picnic table along with a beautiful secluded small deck with a fire pit and chairs all overlooking the green ferns and forest. The area was quiet and peaceful and I will 100 percent be back. Had a wonderful time.

we had such a nice stay here!! beautiful quiet property, comfy cozy cottage, and the sweetest hosts. we would absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a lowkey way to spend a few nights away from the noise, and still be near all the fun port cities. even our dog had the best time, meeting all the animals and relaxing in the grass. very peaceful :)

The Laughing Leaf was perfect for me to unwind. The cottage was cozy and cute. Loved the goats and peacock's. Beautiful landscape and Johnathon is a very friendly host. Will come back again.
