Luxury caravans ideally situated next to picturesque Scottish fishing lakes

Broom Fisheries is an angler’s dream. A fishing holiday with well-stocked lakes for you to cast into, located in stunning natural scenery within distance of Scotland’s Solway Coast, and with luxury caravans for accommodation — two of which have their own private hot tub. There are few holidays that let you catch sizable carp in the morning and soak off in a tub on your balcony in the evening, yet that’s exactly what this site provides.

Established in 1995, Broom Fisheries is home to Scotland’s leading coarse fishing lakes, offering a range of competitions and events that attract the country’s top anglers. Barbel, roach, tench, perch, and more can be hooked in its waters, with seven lakes available and each with their own respective species and ideal catching methods. The static caravans overlook Wallace, a “match only” lake reserved for competitions, with nothing in their surroundings aside from lush greenery.

These caravans offer a luxurious stay for those visiting the lakes, providing home-away-from-home amenities such as a hot shower, flushing toilet, comfortable beds, and a spacious open-plan living room with a dining room and kitchen. The only thing you’ll need to bring with you is food, though with the Scottish town of Annan only a 30-minute walk away, you won’t have trouble finding that.

Though Broom Fisheries is centred around its lakes, it’s not just anglers who travel here; the abundance of walking and cycling routes, plentiful wildlife (this is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for natterjack toads and great crested newts!) and the close proximity to the coast make it an ideal spot for those simply looking to relax in picturesque scenery, close to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the Solway Coast. Cycling routes run through the site if you want to bring your bike, while wildlife hides present perfect photography opportunities for those armed with a camera. As such, this is the perfect getaway for those seeking a fishing holiday, but who also want to bring their family along, too. Teach your kids how to catch their first fish, go for a beach walk, and settle in for a glass of bubbly in a hot tub all in the same day — it’s a hard life, but someone’s got to live it!

Based just a few minute's walk from the Solway Coast, Broom Fisheries is Scotland's premier coarse fishery and is located in stunning natural scenery. This site boasts a fantastic array of wildlife and is a Site of Special Scientific Intrest (SSSI) for Natter Jack toads and Great Crested Newts. A beautiful place to visit.
Nearby attractions

As its name suggests, the key selling point of Broom Fisheries is its fishing lakes. There are seven in total, with the caravans overlooking Lake Wallace, which is stocked with small mirror Carp, Ide, Skimmers, Roach, Perch, and a selection of large carp that weigh up to 16 lbs. It’s an ideal trip for anglers; all lakes are in close vicinity to the caravans, while fishers will be glad of the on-site shop The Tackle Box, which supplies everything from new fishing rods to bait.

Off-site, the Solway Coast is just a few minutes walk away and the local town of Annan is a 30-minute walk. The market town of Dumfries is a 15-mile drive away where you can visit Robert Burns House (01387 255297). There's more history at moated Caerlaverock Castle (01387 770 244; 12 miles from site) and Sweetheart Abbey, 21 miles away. Mountain bikers will want to head for the trails in the woods at Mabie 7Stanes (0300 067 6900), there are walking trails there too.

Food and drink
The nearby town of Annan has various pubs and takeaways all within a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk. The Shed (01461203992) is a wonderfully friendly local with sports regularly playing on its TVs, pool tables, and a jukebox. The Blue Bell Inn (01461202385) provides a great selection of ales right on the edge of the town and across from the river. The Anglers (01461206588) has a good outdoor seating area and hearty pub food, along with attractive decor. For a non-alcoholic option, The Quarter Cake Cafe (01461758781) will provide you with a good breakfast in the morning while you're exploring the local area.
