Lovely campsite surrounded by nature. We had a lovely stay and kids had a great time.
The staff are very friendly and suggested some nice walks that start right out of the site.

The location of this campsite is fantastic. It's a meadow in the Western Weald with views of the Downs and a footpath to the excellent Three Horseshoes pub. The early morning mist across the Weald was a highlight.
However, it was let down by some poor facilities and strange choices.
There are 18 pitches and just one shower. There were three tiny unlit toilets but one was out of order for the whole weekend and the other two blocked regularly. All cars must be moved off the camping ground overnight but the car park isn't large enough so some people had to fend for themselves on nearby roads.
The big one though, was that all the pitches still available when we arrived had been driven across by a tractor. This left deep ruts in the ground making it impossible to pitch your tent on even ground. I can't fathom why anyone would do this.
Another thing to be aware of is that there is no greeting or introduction. You have to work everything out for yourselves. While this isn't necessarily a problem, I suspect it may explain there being more than the maximum one car and four people per pitch, which in turn contributed to the above squeeze on facilities.
Lastly, because pitches aren't assigned or checkout times enforced, we ended up on one pitch when we'd paid for two because there was no space for new arrivals waiting for late leavers.
I understand Clarefield Copse is a new campsite so hopefully once they've ironed out these problems they can do this gem of a location justice.

Beautiful settings and large area for everyone to get a lovely big spot to camp on, very peaceful. Unfortunately the facilities are lacking, 2 portaloos that was often blocked and no very clean and no soap. 1 shower that you could not close the door to, no washing up area. Shame as the site has a lot of potential with plenty of good walks.

The locality and space were wonderful . However the grass in the field was much too long . The field was water logged and even with wellies on we ended up soaked and splattered with water and mud . Because the field was so wet we had to park in the drop off area and walk our tents and gear through said grass . We enjoyed our weekend but came home a day early whilst the weather was sunny and our tents were dry. Flushing toilets and showers were nice but no light in the toilet. Over all our experience would have been better if the grass had been cut. We are used to camping in the rain 😀
