Weekend Trip to Pytingwyn Woods

We will definitely be visiting again, lovely little campsite surrounded by stunning scenery and wildlife. Unfortunately didn't get to cross paths woth David as we was too busy exploring the area, but David was always a phone call away if we needed him, which is all we could ask for.

A great site close to Chee Dale/Monsal Trail, had a great bank holiday weekend here, the only let down being the weather (typical). Would definitely recommend and come back again in the future! Toilets were very clean and maintained regularly. Thanks for a great stay!

Absolutely amazing spot in the valley with great views of the sea and some spectacular sunsets. The site itself is full of things to explore and little hidden spots, it’s really laid back and chill and the on site shop and facilities are great. Such a great find, will return again!

Fantastic campsite in a really great location. The site itself was lovely kept and facilities exceptionally clean - by far the best facilities we have come across yet. We arrived late so rang the number as requested and the lady was helpful regardless of the awkward late check-in. She did mention I should have received my pitch number pre arrival, which I had but didn’t realise as it was sent from the campsite itself and not through the booking agent, Hipcamp - something to look out for if you’re planning a stay. The beach was a 10 minute walk down a lovely lane, easily done with my small children. The beach itself is beautiful and had a lovely little bar/restaurant which sold Vegan ice cream which was a bonus for a plant based family!! They don’t sell fire wood/kindling onsite but the garage down the road sells it. Worth picking some up en route. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the future, thanks so much :)

Very clean and well maintained site. Owners are around multiple times a day and very friendly and helpful! Toilets, shower and patio area cleaned regularly. The pizzas are delicious and a great touch! And of course can’t grumble at the lovely view

Lovely little campsite with great views. A little busier than we expected but it was bank holiday. Lots of walks directly from the campsite and some nice local pubs not too far away. Field was well maintained, facilities were generally clean and campsite owners were friendly.

We lived the Tent Camping at White Peak. The views are stunning, the loos were good. There were plenty of families camping at the same time, so if we’d stayed more than one night In sure our child would have made friends. Absolutely stunning place. Lovely hosts. It was our first time in the peaks and they helped us find the best takeaways and country walks. Took both of our dogs and they were really great with them. Lovely place will definitely be back soon!

Very clean and well kept site. Great views of surrounding mountains and only a 5 minute drive to abersoch town. Pitches are spacious and are clearly separated by hedges. I would highly recommend this place it’s one of the nicest we’ve stayed at. We only had a brief chat with the owners on arrival as we got there late but they were helpful and seemed like nice people.

Lovely vibe, was able to turn up and just pick a spot without any registration which made things a lot easier. The site had a mix of families, teenagers, young adults etc. which was quite refreshing. They say noise down by 10 but was nice that you didn’t have to actually be silent. Louise was really nice and helped with a fire pit,.

What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell. The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving. All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all. Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per unit). We were delighted to receive a nomination for The Camping and Caravanning Club Best Hideaway Site in 2021 and grateful to our wonderful guests for the nomination.

Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. The notice board in the car park provides visitors with maps, photos and information about the wood, and there are laminated maps showing the routes of around 30 local walks which visitors are welcome to borrow during their stay. Canoe, kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Coed Obry and there are several fire pits with seasoned firewood for sale. There is no mains water so visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, but rain water harvesting systems provide water for washing. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).
