Escape to nearly five acres of exclusive land on the west side of the Isle of Lewis.
Croft 5 offers a true wilderness camping experience. Reserved for one booking at a time, so you can enjoy complete solitude and space.
The land overlooks Little Loch Roag, perfect for eagle watching, wildlife spotting, and breathtaking views.
Guests can choose their own pitch—near the loch, beside the stream, or sheltered by the old blackhouse—creating a personalised camping experience.
Facilities are minimal: a composting toilet under the cover of the old shed and fresh water delivered to your pitch. There is no electricity or wash basins/washing facilities or showers; guests should be self-sufficient and comfortable with camping in wild conditions.
Open fires are not permitted, but camping stoves are welcome.
Croft 5 is especially suited to walkers, cyclists, backpackers, and self-sufficient adventurers seeking a restorative escape.
Dogs may be allowed by prior arrangement.
Access is easy, with nearby bus connections and parking for one vehicle, though most guests arrive without a car.
The Isle of Lewis has changeable weather, and ferry cancellations can occasionally affect travel. We will always try to accommodate guests at alternative dates if availability allows.
Camping is limited to 28 nights per year, this is a rare chance to enjoy a wilderness retreat with stunning views, abundant wildlife, and nearly five acres to yourself.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an exposed campsite on an island in the Outer Hebrides. Campers should be prepared for windy weather and have a suitable tent for wild camping in Scotland. We recommend a sturdy, low profile tent or 4 season backpacking type tent (even in summer!).

The Sanday Cabin is an open plan space with a lovely French style double bed (separate toilet / shower room) that sits at the top of a croft on the Isle of Sanday, right next door to Canna. The cabin has views out over the bay of Canna harbour to the Cuillins of Skye and across to the Isle of Rum. You can even see the famous Sanday Puffin Stacks from the cabin and take a stroll along the Puffin Trail.
The cabin has its own decking area and a wooden fenced garden area - so you can enjoy looking at cows without them getting too close! Fully equipped kitchen, all linen towels provided and luggage transport provided.

Remote and wonderful site, incredible views and lochside beach, well appointed bothy to support campers. Midges and rain notwithstanding, a perfect location for off-the-path camping! We even saw a golden eagle up close, as we drove up the approach single-track road. We will be back.

What a special campsite - the views were astounding and there was lots of room between pitches. A quiet site with some thoughtful facilities.
We saw deer head through the campsite, pine martens in the trees and bats and birds!

Very pretty place surrounded by mountains and water. There is a creek flowing through which makes for nice background noise. I saw several birds there. There are some walks you can do but we got rain so didn’t get out. It was crowded but still quiet. Showers are tremendous. I’d definitely go back.

Close to some wonderful hiking trails in the highlands. Nice views from camp and just a short walk toward the loch from camp. Drinking water supply, flush wc's, hot showers, dishwashing sink, food scrap composting, and garbage/recycling bins.

One of the nicest campsites I've ever been to. Extremely remote, but the road leading up is easy to do even with a city car. The hike to Scoraig lighthouse from the campsite is one I'll never forget. The bothy serving as common room is great, nice to get some shelter to prep a meal and relax.

Absolutely stunning campsite - beautiful walk down to the loch which was just so clear and peaceful. Lovely little plots - just right for our campervan. Toilets and showers were clean and functional. Only downside was the midges - I would have loved to stay outside for longer but we had to retreat to the van. Highly recommended though.

A lovely quiet laid back site with stunning views of the mountains with a short walk down to the loch which gives you fantastic views back across the loch in both directions. Facilities met all my demands, the showers were very good, a Bothy to hand as well if the weather or the midges get to bad. 🤪
Fire pits provided but bring your own wood.
I fully recommend a stop here if you are in the area.

Small and friendly. And incredible view down by the Loch, a 5 minute walk out the back of the camp. Basic but very functional in places ie lovely hot showers. What more could you want. Nothing. Hopefully I will return.

Beautiful campsite. Very remote, perfect for those who want to disconnect for a few days in the stunning Scottish wilderness.
The pre stay information was clear, concise and helpful, making our arrival and departure straightforward.
The facilities offered all essentials, were well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. We appreciated the instructions for campers to help maintain a well-respected, environmentally friendly space for other guests.

This is a remote campsite on a little-visited peninsula in NW Scotland - a long way up a single-track road, not suitable for large camper vans but great for tents and smaller vans. The views are stunning. There are only a dozen or so pitches so booking is probably essential, but it is also possible to book in a small onsite bothy, which we were able to use to dry damp sleeping bags as it was unoccupied for some of our stay. Chris the campsite manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome and answer any queries we had. We had less than perfect weather, but it was nevertheless a special place to stay - going to sleep and waking up to birdsong. There are a few walks to be done locally, and higher mountains are nearby, but you would need to drive out to the main road to get to them.

Great little secluded and quiet campsite. We only stayed one night but will be back for longer. Bothy a nice bonus and a good place to hide from rain and midges. Lots of thought has been put into the layout of this basic but very well equipped campsite. Only issue is we hadn't receoved the text in the morning with the gate code so had to jump the gate and ask another camper.
