Welcome to Fernlea. We would love to have you visit us, either on our 5 pitch campsite for motorhomes and caravans, or in 2025 to our new luxury glamping pod. Fernlea is our home in the heart of an agricultural plain called “The Carse of Gowrie,” which runs for 20 miles or so along the River Tay between Perth and Dundee. It’s a beautiful area that we hope you will love too. We are a short walk from the village of Errol, with access to lovely walks along the Tay. We are adjacent to the local bus route (just stick your arm out!), the Sustrans cycle route 77, plus only a mile or so from the A90 Perth to Dundee / Aberdeen road. We are perfect for both a short stopover and a longer break with a fascinating local area to explore. All pitches have hard standing, water on each pitch, grey waste disposal adjacent to the pitch, and a 10 or 16 amp electric supply with a chemical toilet waste tank with rinsing tap behind our garage. We are also within easy access to Fife and the southern area of the Highlands. Walkers and bird watchers will find many footpaths by the River Tay and can climb the local hills to see buzzards, hawks, ducks, and migrating geese throughout the seasons. Any visitors requiring repairs or accessories for their van will find the large Perthshire Caravan dealership nearby. Every Sunday, one of Scotland’s largest car boot sales and markets is held less than a mile away. Weekend Trip to Walkmill Campsite

I loved the campsite. The plots were very spacious and not at all crammed in, so there was lots of room for my toddler to run around in. The facilities were good as there was a static caravan with a kitchen, bathroom, toilet and even a couple of lounge areas, which would be useful if you got bad weather. It was so handy having the use of a hot water for washing up. I would definitely go back!

We loved tent camping at Walkmill, the site was beautifully maintained in a stunning location near the river. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy while sat around the fire pit - we saw a barn owl and hares during our two night stay. The pitches were well spaced out and the site shop had everything you might need in a pinch -we recommend bringing cash for the honesty box. The location is a 45min walk to Warkworth Castle and the coast/coastal path so there is plenty to keep you busy. We are looking forward to coming back!

Really nice campsite with good facilities. It was quite busy but it wasn't too noisy. Staff were friendly. I was on a hardstanding pitch and my only gripe was, the grass that we had allocated for the pitch wasn't really quite wide enough to secure my awning as well as I would have liked. The awning just about fit on. We had some sandwiches made by the guy in the cafe to take on our walk which were good. Lacking veggie options though.

I can not recommend Baystone enough. THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING! I was not expecting them from the pictures shown by stunning the wash facilties are clean and maintained access to onsite fridge and freezer. Good pitch sizes with fire pit. I will be back as soon as possible. Camp warden was lovely super friendly. I explained my dog prefers space and she was more willing to accommodate. The on lead rule is followed by all guests which was a reason I picked the sight. There is alot of live stock so your dog does need to be okay with horses and sheep around. Noise levels were quiet by 10pm every night. Cafe on site was lovely and have a small shop with some goodies avaliable (tecos 8 min drive away) beautiful beaches, peaks near by. I loved it

We loved camping at Moss Rose Campsite. It was everything we needed and more. We've camped at Doyles Dell, enclosed pitch, as we were traveling with our dog. Plenty of space on the pitch, nice warm shower, washing up station, drinking water. Picnic benches and fire pits available to rent. Wood also available for a small fee. We were greeted by Joe, who was very friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely go back 😊

Weekend Trip to Camping at Cardewlees

Loved the getaway in the campervan for couple days , back to nature with stunning views. Such a beautiful quiet place on a lovely farm surrounded by livestock. Great wee chippy in Dalton and co-op right next to it plus wee cafes aswell n butchers. Only thing was having to take own loo roll into bathroom even after the cleaner had been n not restocked. Would deffo come back and maybe stay in the pods for a change.

Where to go

In Town

Attractions in the centre of town include the Rock UK adventure sports centre and Newcastleton Golf Course. Also in the centre is the Lidalia Touring Caravan Park, where all pitches are hard-standing, with some set around duck ponds and others are by the wooded hillside, which is filled with red squirrels and birds including pheasants.

Kielder Forest

Just over the English border, and a 20-minute drive from Newcastleton, Kielder Forest is a playground for cyclists and walkers, a haven for wildlife and home to the best dark skies in England. Kielder Village Camping and Caravan Site enjoys a quiet forest location, close to the Kielder Observatory.

Gretna Green

A 30-minute drive west of Newcastleton, the small border village of Gretna Green is famed as the UK’s marriage capital thanks to the days when young English couples would elope to marry in Scotland. A few minutes from the village, King Robert the Bruce’s Cave Caravan and Camp is set on the Cove Estate, 14th-century refuge of Robert the Bruce.

When to go

With its mild climate, Newcasteton and the surrounding Scottish Borders region is a year-round destination, but best experienced in the summer when daylight hours are long, the sun is (with luck) shining and the calendar is filled with activities. The year’s highlights include the Newcastleton Traditional Music Festival and the Common Riding, a spectacle of horsemanship and pageantry, both of which take place in July. If visiting at this time, booking your site in advance is recommended.
