4 nights at St Conan's Escape
St. Conan's Escape was lovely- the perfect place to stay during our venture to western Scotland. The accommodations were perfect, the view was excellent, and the host was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be looking up this cute little Basecamp for our next adventure in Scotland! Thank you!

Tips for snagging a campsite
- As a well-trafficked part of Scotland, sites can be booked up, especially in July and August. Make your reservations as soon as you know your dates.
- Campers typically arrive in the late afternoon or evening. Get the best pick of pitches by arriving earlier.
When to go
For long daylight hours; your best chances of getting some sunny days, and for enjoying outdoor activities, May through September is the best period to visit. To avoid crowds, aim to visit outside of the peak months of July and August. Outside of spring and summer, you will have fewer campsite options, as most are open seasonally, and may experience disruption to your travel plans (especially ferries) due to inclement weather.
Know before you go
- If you choose to wild camp, be sure to follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
- Biting midges are a nuisance in the summer: bring repellent and long sleeves.
- Following the Rock Routes is a great way to see some of the best viewpoints in Lochaber. The Lochaber Geotrails highlights six of the most interesting geological points.
