Welcome to Fernlea. We would love to have you visit us, either on our 5 pitch campsite for motorhomes and caravans, or in 2025 to our new luxury glamping pod.
Fernlea is our home in the heart of an agricultural plain called “The Carse of Gowrie,” which runs for 20 miles or so along the River Tay between Perth and Dundee. It’s a beautiful area that we hope you will love too.
We are a short walk from the village of Errol, with access to lovely walks along the Tay. We are adjacent to the local bus route (just stick your arm out!), the Sustrans cycle route 77, plus only a mile or so from the A90 Perth to Dundee / Aberdeen road. We are perfect for both a short stopover and a longer break with a fascinating local area to explore.
All pitches have hard standing, water on each pitch, grey waste disposal adjacent to the pitch, and a 10 or 16 amp electric supply with a chemical toilet waste tank with rinsing tap behind our garage.
We are also within easy access to Fife and the southern area of the Highlands. Walkers and bird watchers will find many footpaths by the River Tay and can climb the local hills to see buzzards, hawks, ducks, and migrating geese throughout the seasons.
Any visitors requiring repairs or accessories for their van will find the large Perthshire Caravan dealership nearby. Every Sunday, one of Scotland’s largest car boot sales and markets is held less than a mile away.

Weekend Trip to Fernlea - Campsite & Pod
Staying at Bruce’s house was an absolute pleasure! He was so incredibly helpful and kind and the pod is perfect. I would live there for the rest of my life if I could! The kitchen is great. The hot tub is beyond belief and so good that it’s almost intoxicating. When my boyfriend and I accidentally reset the Internet, Bruce was beyond kind and helpful. Next time I’m in this area I will for sure Be staying here again.

We stayed in Phil’s Patch for just one night on our way north. Lynne offered us a warm welcome. We had our own private enclave in the trees. Posh composting toilets and everything well thought out. Wish we’d used the unique shower!

Lynne was so accommodating and always strived to help us out. She gave great recommendations and was always there to provide unparalleled customer service.
The site was equipped with a private kitchen space including knifes, chopping board, and cooking utensils, as well as a private toilet. The water was fed from a private spring so it was always so fresh and refreshing.
The alpacas, horses, sheep and goats were always great to watch and the woodland surrounding the site had become home to Golden Eagles. This site is definitely a place for nature lovers and those trying to get away from cities.
The only thing I would change about this experience would be to install running water in the shower, but the existing set up involving a bucket-pulley system and a hose with shower head works surprisingly well!
We are looking forward to our next stay in this campsite!

We loved the cabin. Spacious and we slept very well. The best shower ever! The campsite has wonderful views and is well maintained. We used the bbq and fire pit. The barn is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Angus is a wonderful host. Definitely would return to Muiredge when in Scotland!

We had an amazing time camping with Beirhope Alpacas. We stayed for 6 nights on the Woodland adventure pitch (two adults and 3 kids under 5) and here's how it went:
The pitch itself was easy to navigate, very private and large enough to fit several smaller tents and still have room for the fire pit and sitting area. There is also a fence and gate near the entrance which gave us peace of mind. The kids loved the little Fairy hideout in the trees just next to the clearing.
The eco toilet, outdoor sink and bucket shower were always very clean and tidy. The directions for the amenities and trash receptacles were easy to understand and clearly posted.
The Campers corner had plenty of shelf stable food for purchase like oatmeal cups, fruit shoots and eggs, aswell as firewood and mini BBQs. There is also a small fridge for campers to share to keep basics cold like milk and butter.
We did not come for the Alpacas, but the kids loved feeding them carrots and learning about them. I really appreciated that there wasn't any pressure to book any of the excursions with the Alpacas, so it was all very stress free and relaxing.
The hosts, Lynne and Alan, plus their team were spectacular. They were quick to respond to messages, happy to accommodate our needs and extremely pleasant to chat with. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us and deserve all the praise.
We will absolutely be back, not only for the beautiful views, but also for the company of Lynne and the Team.

I loved my 4 night break in the Bramble Yurt. The yurt was clean and cosy. I did have the stove burner on due to the weather being so good. The bathroom shed was clean and fresh. The fridge was a god send considering the temperature reach a high of 27 degrees. I had a relaxing time sitting in the fresh air watching the wild life and the world go by. I would highly recommend Organic Welltree. I shall definitely go back. I wish to thanks them for my time at Kirkland.

Bierhope Alpacas is one of the kind. The site is great, away from any modern living noise. The host, Lynne, is absolutely amazing, we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. She honestly felt like family, nothing was too much trouble and she was very accommodating. The pitches are clean and very big. Clean facilities, alpacas, and the honesty shop has everything you might have forgotten..... And ice cream!!! What I'm trying to say is this is one of the best camp sites we have visited and I would recommend it to anyone.

Brie hope Alpacas is fantastic! We didn’t go for the alpacas but they were a lovely addition to our trip nonetheless. The Woodland Wonder pitch is absolutely fantastic, really big and private space for ourselves and friends. The facilities are very clean and while they are basic have everything you need for an easy stay. The outdoor washing sink was a brilliant facility for us as we are used to washing our dishes in a little washing bowl on the floor with cold water. It was quite luxurious as camping goes!

Amazing wild camping experience (with luxuries), not far from Kelso. Peaceful spot with a handful of pitches ideal for families and couples, Lynne and staff are warm and welcoming, super friendly. Firewood and groceries can be accessed anytime you need, just pay in the morning. Eco toilets are cleaned regularly. Great stargazing area and a picnic area too, plenty of space and idyllic scenery...and there are the alpacas. Beautiful spot... Just don't tell everyone!

Camping in Isle of May National Nature Reserve guide
When to go
The Isle of May is open to visitors from early April through the end of September: it remains closed over winter in order to protect the large number of seal pups born around its shores. May and June are the best months to see breeding seabirds, which number up to a quarter of a million at the peak of breeding season.
Know before you go
- Boat trip options include journeys by ferry and rigid inflatable boat (RIB). Note that the RIB is open to the elements (waterproofs are provided).
- Once onshore, you are free to explore independently until departure time. Your tour operator will provide maps of the island.
- Rangers greet visitors at the pier and can answer your questions.
- There is an accessible restroom in the island’s visitor center.
- While most trips depart from Anstruther, RIB tours also depart North Berwick.
- During winter, you can watch the seal pups via live camera feed at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick.
