The Loft Glamping and Camping is situated at East Grange Farm, Kinloss, Moray. It 's a working farm that has evolved over the years to include Wigwam Glamping and Camping for campervans, motorhomes and tents. A number of the old farm buildings have been reppurposed as venue spaces for Weddings, Events and Workshops. The "wilderness" campsite offers pitches suitable for tents and small campervans whilst the Stackyard area is suitable for motorhomes and mega tents. All motorhome pitches have electrical hook-up and we have a good number of electric tent pitches. We also now take bookings for caravans. We do not have fully service pitches Onsite, we also have Original Wigwam cabins which are wooden camping cabins (Pods) that offer all year round protection against the elements. With heating, electricity, fridge, kettle and toasters. For those wanting a bit more luxury there are also ensuite Wigwam Cabins onsite with wood fired hot tubs. We welcome families, groups, well behaved dogs and do allow campfires outside the wigwams and at pitches and can provide fire hubs on the campsite (this must be pre-arranged). One of the nicest campsites I've ever been to. Extremely remote, but the road leading up is easy to do even with a city car. The hike to Scoraig lighthouse from the campsite is one I'll never forget. The bothy serving as common room is great, nice to get some shelter to prep a meal and relax.

Absolutely stunning campsite - beautiful walk down to the loch which was just so clear and peaceful. Lovely little plots - just right for our campervan. Toilets and showers were clean and functional. Only downside was the midges - I would have loved to stay outside for longer but we had to retreat to the van. Highly recommended though.

Weekend Trip to Badrallach Campsite

A lovely quiet laid back site with stunning views of the mountains with a short walk down to the loch which gives you fantastic views back across the loch in both directions. Facilities met all my demands, the showers were very good, a Bothy to hand as well if the weather or the midges get to bad. 🤪 Fire pits provided but bring your own wood. I fully recommend a stop here if you are in the area.

The pod was very clean and organized. The hosts came in and tidied up and left clean towels just like a hotel. They also gave us a tour when we got there and explained how the shower and door lock works instead of us having to use trial and error. The pod has plenty of storage space under the bed and all of the appliances work. Definitely will stay there again. The space is okay for two people, but probably not three.

Lochinver

If you feel like treating yourself to some relatively ritzy accommodations after a day of exploring, you can try glamping. Just north of the town center, Suilven View Pod offers a comfortable experience in its glamping pod, which is fully equipped with all the necessities, including bedding and even an outdoor hot tub with views of the mountains and Lochinver Harbour.

Achmelvich Beach

Located four miles north of Lochinver, the stunning, white sandy beach at Achmelvich is a favorite of water sports enthusiasts, as well as fishers and walkers who can take advantage of the several nearby walks and climbs. Right next to the beach, the family-run Shore Caravan Site is popular with traveling families, especially during the summer school holidays.The site has pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents, with or without electric, as well as static caravans for rent.

Clachtoll Beach

Around five miles north of Lochinver, along the twisting single-track road to Kylesku, Clachtoll Beach Campsite is just steps from a sandy beach and turquoise waters. The site has space for tents and tourers, with the choice of basic pitches without electric, or serviced pitches with water and electric.

When to go

Most people visit the area between May and September, which is the best time of year for watersports, including wild swimming, and hiking. As Lochinver is a popular stop just off the North Coast 500 long-distance driving route, it can get busy in the summer, particularly in July and August when Scottish schools are on holiday. September and October offer a good compromise: cooler temperatures but fewer crowds.

Know before you go

Some sites in the area are seasonal: check opening dates before traveling.
Wild camping is legal in Scotland as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Biting midges are a common nuisance during Highland summers. Don’t forget to pack repellant and long sleeves.
There is a small selection of shops in Lochinver. For bigger purchases, head for Ullapool, which has a Tesco Superstore.
