Cleghorn Farm is a mixed farm just north east of the market town of Lanark. Comprised of 250 acres of fields and woodland and bounded to the south by Mouse Water, it is a beautiful spot to get away from it all without having to leave it all behind if you don't want to. The fields are grazed and cultivated but the woodlands are much as they were at the end of the last ice age with spectacular walks along Cleghorn Glen with the chance to see badgers, bats, deer and all manner of birds among the towering pine and beech trees.
The Mouse Water (pronounced moose) tumbles down along the edge of the farm and has some glorious pools for swimming, shallows for paddling and some spectacular water falls before it joins the River Clyde.

Just returning from our first visit to Cardewlees and we could not of asked for a better stay. Cardewlees is an absolute little gem of a campsite and Johnny could not have been a better host if he tried. We had a wonderful little getaway here, exactly what we needed nice and quiet and surrounded by nature, the pod was clean and cosy and provided everything you need for a stay. The bbq was really nice and worked well. Can was really wonderful and helpful especially with a little mishap we had. 10/10 I would recommend going here and we will definitely be back!

Beautiful campsite on a working farm. Facilities are clean and effective. The animals that we ran into were friendly, especially a little black cat that was very eager to say hello.
The location was great, site was peaceful and there was very little wind, even with the poor weather that we got on our trip.

Caroline was fantastic! She made the check-in and check out so easy and ensured our comfort throughout, and the yurt and its facilities were perfect! This place is a gem!
External cooking facilities were great, as was the wood fired hot tub!....perfect for a just needed getaway!
Would certainly stay here again and again!...the yurts décor and cleanliness was exceptional.
Top tip...order the pizza oven...its really worth it.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful countryside then this place is for you. Great location. Great communication - Ruth came to see us when we contactedher about the WIFI. Use of private bathroom and shower. Only thing for us is that those facilities were across a farm yard and the cabin didn't have its own supply. The bed was comfy and the cabin stayed at a good temperature (even when it was cold outside). Fire pit available. Would recommend

The best farm stays near Glen Clova guide
When to go
While most visited in summer, Glen Clova is a year-round destination. The landscapes vary throughout the year, from verdant pine forests in summer to snow-capped hills in winter. Winter visitors should, however, dress for occasionally harsh conditions and bear in mind that daylight hours are short. The best time to visit to see wildflowers in Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve is from mid-June through mid-August.
Know before you go
- The weather in Scotland is always changeable. Bring warm, waterproof clothing for walking in Glen Clova.
- Wild camping is permitted throughout Scotland, as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
- The only way in and out of Glen Clova is via a single-track road with a dead end. Having your own transportation is essential.
- Jock’s Road is a challenging walk, which has been the site of tragedy. Coming prepared and properly equipped is critical.
