We had a great 2 night camping stay. Myself hubby & 3 kids had a good time. Toilets & shower was clean and tidy. The animals were an added bonus an kept the kids entertained. We would definitely return.

The field itself is a lovely size. The chickens are very friendly and tend to follow you around which added some fun to the evening. The shower was lovely and hot! And both toilet and shower suitably accessible. The view was stunning especially in the nice weather and it isnt far from a local village. Arrived late in the evening which didn't seem a problem. Only thing the sign is a little small when locating the site (although I had no difficulty follow the satnav to the exact and drive slow towards the end of the journey.

The place was perfect for a getaway very close to Edinburgh and Glasgow
The bathrooms were convenient and very clean
The grass was lovely to pitch our tent on
the hosts were very friendly came to check all was ok , just wonderful
Will definitely stay again one day

Lovely quiet location
Toilet and shower area clean and spacious
Couldn't see a picnic table
We only managed 1 night instead of of the 2 we booked due to me being far too pregnant hahaha

The site was cheap and cheerful and you get what you pay for, we chose it simply as a stopover point and we’ve done basic camping many times so were happy enough. Some simple wash-up facilities for campers would be a welcome addition and both bathrooms, although fully functioning in terms of a toilet, sink (with cold water only) and shower, were in exposed chip board carcasses / rooms, with no windows and ventilation, both of which were constantly damp with soaking wet floors which unfortunately made them smell pretty bad and fairly unappealing to use (and we’re not fussy campers in terms of bathroom facilities).
The positives were free electric hook up and Wi-Fi and a simple quiet location, which is all good for £20 per night.

Our stay here honestly wasn't pleasurable at all. Upon arrival to the site there was no clear instruction of where to go. When we finally got in touch with the host they said to park anywhere I can find a spot even though my booking had said a specific pitch number. When we drove onto the pitch site, the ground was boggy making it hard to even manoeuvre the car resulting almost getting stuck due to the overly soft ground. Setting up the tent was a nightmare(near the entrance gate) as it was so muddy and boggy resulting in the tent being covered inside and out before our stay had even begun. There is a water tap with no drainage which contributed towards to excess water build up in the middle of the entrance which was covered by 2 Roadcones. The ground was very soft making pinning the tent harder than should be. Getting dirty and muddy doesn't never bother me, I am military and I'm used to the dirtiest of conditions, but camping at a confirmed site should be pleasurable and not feel like effort to get anything done. All in all our experience here wasn't no where near the way we was expecting. The conditions of the field should be addressed for sure or at the very least near the gate as the ground was shocking!

Start up campside. Staid for 8 Nights. Will go there agen if I Am up in the neibourhoud. Friendley helpfull owner. Small tent place but 5 places are there and is oké. More Spaces for motorhomes and caravans. There are 2 toilet shower combination rooms in Total. Compagnie With trucks bihind is closed in weekends and at evenings but start early in the morning.

Great camping experience despite the storm conditions thanks to Barry and his partner who welcomed our family dog. The site was in a rural, quiet location, with lovely walks nearby. The showers were clean and well maintained. We're looking forward to returning for another visit.

Overall it was OK for a short stay, but I would not recommend this place for a whole holiday. The highway is nearby and you really can hear it in a tent, but more important is that the sanitary room although quite new, has a very unpleasant smell of mould. It is also combined shower and toilet in the same room, which can make it occupied too long.

Unfortunately I had to cancel the trip, sent message to Barry but no response. No idea if due any refund as cannot find cancellation policy.
Main complaint is with Hipcamp not the venue. All I wanted was 1 night camping as we passed through on bikes. Firstly website is very slow on anything other than a pc at home. Secondly I have now received a total of 6 emails and 4 messages and the need to set up an account for 1 simple booking. Over kill or what! If this is progress, the future is bleak. Wonder if I will get a response from Hipcamp
