We loved the location, tucked down a farm track, in the shelter of a lovely wooded river. Great eco facilities, we love a composting loo and the outdoor showers were fabulous. Tim on site was really helpful and friendly. Gorgeous, generous pitches and so peaceful. The wash up area in the wood is a lovely spot but a little far from the site and in the less sunny months would get a bit waterlogged I'd imagine. It was no bother to us as we boiled water and washed up on our pitch, but might be an issue at a busier time perhaps. We loved our stay, good value, a great site with a fabulous ethos. Right up our street, would wholeheartedly recommend. The river walk is a lovely amenity and lots of places are easy to reach from it's central location.

Admittedly we were blessed with the weather at the August bank holiday weekend so we could sit outside our tent and enjoy the fantastic sea views. Rebecca was very friendly and helpful. It’s a great location for walking two days of the SW Coast path. Back to basics amenities were clean and well kept. The hot shower was a little temperamental . We will return 🙂

We’ve just got back from a fantastic week at Mushroom meadow. The site was just perfect - spacious pitches in a gorgeous surrounding with never a queue for the loo and plenty of hot water for the showers! We found loads to do nearby on both the north and south coasts and really appreciated Clare’s helpful local knowledge and tips too. Thank you so much for a great week - super hosts and we particularly loved our evening fires with Tim. Highly recommended.

If you love Nature and Humans, this your place. You get a private camping spot, wood for Fire, beautiful sunsets, I even got a delicious warm shower and offered beatroot and salad.

A rough and ready site in a wonderful remote location in the hills, west facing so amazing sun sets. Compost loos and hot showers. Community gardens and lots of intertesting site projects. 30 - 45 min walk from amazing coastline.

We had a really nice stay here. The site was quiet and peaceful and the host was very helpful. The little woodland at the end of the field is very nice for a stroll and we walked into the village which has an amazing bakery, shop, pub and fish and chip shop. Location is good for getting around Cornwall. Would definitely stay again.

Had a really nice time here over the last weekend. The pitch was very flat, and secluded, with lovely views. The site was quiet and everyone there was super friendly and welcoming. The location was great, with Hayle beach being just a 15 minute drive, and St Ives being around 20 minutes away.
The facilities where clean and well maintained, although some may find them lacking due to there being no hot water. Overall I'd really recommend this site to anyone who wants more peaceful, beautiful and remote campsite, and also to anyone who wants more budget friendly accommodation near St Ives.

Mushroom Meadow is a peaceful field well away from any roads. Surrounded by a wild meadow and trees each pitch is flat and mown short for a good pitch. It is a friendly place. Clare and her staff are very helpful. There are very clean compost loos and effective showers. It is a "get away from it all" sort of place. Don't miss the legendary Philps pasty shop in the village!

I had such a lovely stay at Mushroom Meadow campsite in late April. It’s so quiet, tucked away in the Cornish countryside, and feels super calm and private. The eco vibe is great, and everything’s quite simple. The individual hot outdoor showers were lovely and much needed after a hot day, and it was a nice novelty to be able to hear the birds whilst in the shower!
Because the site is so rural, there is next to no light pollution at night and so the stargazing potential is huge. I could see so many more stars than I can ever see at home! And the campfire pit is a lovely addition to an evening, especially coming back to the site after a day out to find it crackling away as the sun set, lit by the staff on site for me.
When I was looking for a site, I wanted somewhere quiet that I could feel safe, switch off and enjoy nature for the weekend; this place was perfect.

We were met by Lawrence who was friendly and welcoming. There was only one shower/toilet which didn’t cause us any problems but worth bearing in mind during high season. Bigger shower/toilet blocks are being added shortly I believe! The pitches were lovely and private and nicely maintained.

This site is definitely for those who like their thrills cheap and cheerful! I was
camping alone (female) and I felt very safe here. Also, looking at previous reviews I'm pleased to announce that there are still very friendly dogs and that the geese have their own kingdom behind a gate!
Perks of this campsite are the secluded spots on the terraces that afford a lot of privacy and quiet. There was a firepit at my pitch and wood is available (£5 cash). It is also a straightforward 45 minute walk to St Gothian Sands through the backlanes and from there at low tide you can walk along the beaches to Hayle or follow the Coast Path at the top .
My warning is to anyone who needs luxury when camping - this is not the spot! There are two compost loos, one sink and one solar shower. The facilities are functional and do the job, but they are rough around the edges! The site is a testament to the ingenuity of the people living there as the facilities are all handmade. The upside is that nature is minimally disturbed and you can wake up to the sound of bright bird song.

Where to go
St. Mary’s & Tresco
The liveliest and largest island in Scilly—with all the transport links, restaurants, and shops—St. Mary’s unveils far-flung bays, windswept headlands, and meandering paths running along the coast and across the wide-open countryside. Excellent swimming, snorkelling, diving, and birdwatching opportunities abound, while boats zip over to neighbouring Tresco, with its subtropical, 19th-century gardens and powdery, Caribbean-worthy beaches.
St. Martin’s
Famous for hosting some of England’s outstanding blonde-sand beaches, the northernmost of the inhabited Scilly Isles is a delight to explore, and it even has its own tiny winery. Hike between sandy strands; go swimming, snorkelling, and diving off the sweeping bays; get the campfire going under the stars; and feast on super-fresh seafood plucked from the surrounding Atlantic.
Bryher
Tiny, rugged, and remote Bryher feels worlds away from everything, even its sister Scillies. The fun here is all about wandering the coast-hugging paths, clambering up to superb viewpoints, wandering past rustic-charm cottages, enjoying the secluded sweeping beaches and rocky coves, and stocking up on fresh local produce at street-side stalls.
St. Agnes
If camping with impossibly beautiful views across a deserted white-sand beach and rustling up meals with ingredients fresh from local farms sounds like exactly your thing, seek out the southernmost of the populated Scilly Isles. As well as secluded coves, aquamarine views, and flower-filled fields, isolated St. Agnes is known for prehistoric burial sites and the dreamy low-tide sandbar running across to the even more isolated Gugh island.
