Half Moon Domes

1 unit · Glamping1 acre · St. Agnes, Cornwall, South West England
Outdoor living but with the luxury of a hotel. One of only two luxury domes set in their own paddock. An experience rather than just a stay. Enjoy sitting out on the deck stargazing at night, waking up to birdsong and watching stunning sunsets . Safe and snug in a tent designed for the extremities of mountain tops and more than capable of handling whatever the Cornish weather can throw at it! Electricity, wood burner, comfortable beds and seating. Older children can be accommodated either on the single beds in the main dome or in an additional bell tent located just the other side of the deck (please let us know where you would like the beds when booking) Each dome has an ensuite kitchen/bathroom pod with hot shower, flushing toilet, fridge, kettle and induction hob. Its own private deck with BBQ, outdoor seating and a large grassy area for games! Fully equipped with everything you will need. all we ask is that you bring your own beach towels, toiletries and torches (as we try to keep external lighting to a minimum). Rural views and plenty of wildlife but only a few minutes walk to the village shop, 5 mins drive to the beautiful beach at Porthtowan, half an hour to the south coast and direct access to many of the coastal paths by foot. A perfect base for exploring Cornwall.

Halgarrack Farm Hideaway

2 units · Glamping8 acres · Redruth, Cornwall, South West England
We are an informal and friendly site in a gorgeous part of Cornwall. These bell tents are located in a peaceful five-acre field, so there's ample space to spread out, explore and play. The field faces the west, so it catches lots of sunlight and is a great spot for watching the sky light up in pinks and oranges as the sun sets in the evening Sustainability and nature is at the heart of what we do here, so we wanted to find a way that we could make your stay unique and eco friendly without compromising on comfort. We have turned a horsebox into a shower block complete with a composting loo! Everything you see on the site has been made from upcycled and repurposed materials. All of the tents are decorated slightly differently with vintage and antique pieces, making them truly unique and one-off! This farm is centrally located, making all of Cornwall very easy to explore. Both the north and south coasts of the county can be reached in about a quarter of an hour, so you can nip up to Gwithian to catch the surf before heading south to the much-loved foodie town of Porthleven.

Polgwedhen Lodge

1 unit · Glamping10 acres · Chacewater, Truro, England
Polgwedhen is the only lodge in these magnificent lightly wooded gardens, on the edge of an ornamental lake, home to wild ducks, moorhens, little grebes, dragonflies and damsel flies and a variety of pondlife. If you're quiet you may catch sight of deer, foxes and badgers wandering through at dusk as well as bats and owls. The bird watcher will not be disappointed; songbirds, woodpeckers, buzzards, swallows and herons are regularly sighted. From Polgwedhen it's possible to walk or cycle and join up with the Bissoe Trail which runs from Devoran to Portreath, and there are many other surrounding tracks. Both the north and south coasts are a short drive away, as well as many National Trust properties, the Eden Project, and the Great Gardens of Cornwall. Although Polgwedhen is surrounded by farmland it's a short drive to Threemilestone which features two convenience stores, a chinese takeaway and fish and chip shop. A couple of miles further on is our city of Truro. Whatever, your interests are there's something for you to do here at Polgwedhen.

Glamping in Helford River with horseback riding guide

Overview

Riverside pubs, tree-lined canal ways, and secluded beaches tempt travellers to the Helford River estuary on Cornwall’s south coast. On the north shore, visit the National Trust gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, paddle around the creeks on a kayak or boat cruise, then ride the ferry across the river from Helford Passage. Wildlife-watching is the main attraction at the estuary, and there are plenty of opportunities. Enjoy bird-watching along the beaches, spot crabs and other sea life at Nare Point or Prisk Cove, and visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. There’s no camping along the riverside, but country campgrounds lie just a short drive away.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time to discover the estuary, when it’s possible to swim at the beaches. However, the best wildlife-watching opportunities are in autumn and winter, when migrating birds flock to Cornwall’s south shores. Tent camping in Cornwall is best from late spring through early autumn, but year-round camping is still possible with a caravan or motorhome. Ferries run across the Helford River between April and October.

Know before you go

  • The Helford River lies between Falmouth Bay and the Lizard Peninsula, along the south coast of Cornwall. The north shore is about 9 miles south of Falmouth or a 30-minute drive. Passenger ferries run across the river to Helford village on the south shore.
  • Facilities are limited along the river, so it’s best to bring everything you need with you. There are restrooms, a café, and a general store in Helford Village, as well as a few pubs along the north shore.
  • Most campsites require advance booking, and many ask for the full payment in advance. Be sure to check opening dates, as many close in the winter months.
