Share your space with hares, deer, foxes, owls, songbirds, field voles, bees and butterflies. The views from the fields are a well kept local secret - from your tent or van look out over Hartland, Lundy island, Saunton, Croyde, Exmoor and Dartmoor, even Pembrokeshire on a clear day! FACILITIES: In keeping with our low impact approach, the fields are just fields, but with the addition of some picnic benches! A flushing toilet, drinking water, hot shower, charging and WiFi are found by the farmhouse. BBQs and fires permitted off the ground and we have fire pits for loan and logs for sale. Please pack out all rubbish and leave NO trace. Dogs welcome under close control - please avoid meadow centres in summer to protect the nesting skylarks and ensure they do NOT chase the wildlife. ACCESS: Easily accessible by 4WD, and 2WD in summer/when dry. Be aware it's a grassy uphill track, if your vehicle is not great off-road... (but everyone so far has been fine!) The views are worth the walk though! Campervans have backup options lower down near the house. THE SITE: Nature spot, relax and stargaze across our 4 fields. We recently planted 800 trees for a new woodland, created a wildlife pond, and are establishing a traditional cider orchard. Rose looks after our vegetable garden and usually has some native breed piglets. Our apiary is managed by Jon who will happily explain about bees... and sell you a jar of honey for breakfast. Note - the area is agricultural with very occasional farm noise and odour. We are pleased to be a South West Coast Path Waymaker, and welcome walkers. We have been camping for over 25 years now and this is by far the best campsite we have stayed on . This is due to the lovely and welcoming owners . The largest pitch we have ever stayed on with outstanding views . The dogs being able to be off the lead on your pitch . We didn’t need to move the van off the site as the South West Coastal path was a 15 minute walk away . One day we walked to Peppercombe beach then the next day we walked in the other direction to Bucks Mills . We honestly didn’t want to go home as it was so peaceful and relaxing there. Before we left I bought 3 jars of their own honey and two jars are meant for Christmas presents but it’s so delicious that it might not make it !!!! We will definitely go back and also tell our friends about this wonderful site.

Lovely campsite. Amazing views with so much space as only 3 pitches. Shower was an added bonus and flushing toilet, all very clean and well looked after. Great attention to detail on all aspects of the site. Rose and Jon were such lovely hosts. We stayed 2 nights but would have loved to stay more. Close to the costal path and 15 mins walking distance to The Hoops pub. Delicious home grown honey that can be bought. Can’t fault anything.

A beautiful place with stunning views. So much space between the pitches that it’s pretty close to a wild camping experience. Gorgeous wild flowers around the site that make the space feel considered without feeling overly manicured. We forgot our air bed and Rose was so helpful in lending us some cushions to sleep on. 100% recommend and I hope to be back soon.

Absolutely amazing. What a find! We felt truly blessed to have this site to ourselves for the first night, and even when others arrived on the second night, it is such a low density campsite that you hardly notice other people there. It was so relaxing to be able to have our two lively dogs off lead, chasing each other around the meadow while we sat back & enjoyed a local cider or two, watching the sunset over the North Devon coast. The pitches are generous and the picnic benches were very useful. Our Ford Transit Custom struggled a little bit on the hill on the first attempt, but with a bit more oomph we managed just fine. The facilities are immaculate. The owners and their dog are lovely! We bought some of the honey which we have yet to try, but it looks really delicious. This is one of the best campsites I've been to and we will absolutely come again next time we're in the area.

I arrived on a Monday afternoon as I wanted to miss the noise and busyness at the weekend. The site was immaculate and just what I needed for a few days away. There was plenty of room to not be bothered by neighbours and plenty of the orchard pitches are close to the river which is perfect for paddling. The showers are clean and I got a decent time for £1. I didn’t have a pizza from the restaurant but they looked amazing. I loved Bredy’s Farm and will definitely come back.

The Mead offers plenty of space for campers.

Wow, what a find! So pleased we came across Jon and Rose’s campsite, it was just what we were looking for! Being self sufficient in our camper, this spot is just perfect. A secluded small campsite with generous pitches and absolutely stunning views with wildlife to watch as the sun sets. The owners are just lovely, very helpful in sharing some local tips! The (brand new) shower and toilet facilities are really clean. Our time here was perfect, quiet, undisturbed with beautiful views. Can’t wait to come back when in the area!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bredy Farm, which is set in gorgeous countryside & is close to many fabulous beaches along the Jurassic Coast. As they advertise, the campsite can & does get noisy on a Friday & Saturday night, but it's blissfully quiet on weeknights so it's all a question of balance. Having a pool, a bar, a great Italian restaurant & live music/ DJs just over the road on the main farm site means that there's loads to keep you entertained if you're feeling lively/ don't want to cook. All in all, a fun place to stay & a great base for exploring this part of Dorset.

As you'd expect from a site with such a name, there's a whole lot of space in which to relax and explore at 5 Acres, a large grassy site in the Somerset Levels. Kids and dogs are both welcome on site here, and there's plenty of scope for them to run about and play games safely away from barbecues and campfires (which are also permitted to keep you warm and fed in the evenings). Facilities on site include firepits, a toilet and shower block and outdoor sinks with mains water. Dogs must be kept on leads at all time. We class ourselves as a quite site so no amplified music. Mains hook ups are 6Amp max rated. Pitches are approximately 16m x 20m. The flag, firepit and pitch number line up in the centre of your pitch. The surrounding Somerset Levels aren’t just out in the sticks – they also produce them. Willow cane has been cultivated the traditional way in this part of the county for hundreds of years and can be seen growing within a mile of 5 Acres. The Levels are also a wildlife haven, making them an all-round top choice for country walks along the many trails nearby. And while this may be a rural retreat, it's also one that's easy to get to as it's just off the A378 (no winding country lanes to negotiate for this one…) Taunton town centre, with its wide range of shops and supermarkets, is a 15-minute drive away. The closest pub and coffee shop are five minutes away by road.

When to go

Forest walks are available year-round in Haldon Forest. Escape the heat along the shaded trails in summer or come in autumn to admire the colourful fall foliage. July and August is peak season, when advance booking is essential for park activities. To avoid the crowds, choose a weekday visit outside of the school holidays. The treetop adventure park is open all year, but opening hours are limited through winter, so check ahead.

Know before you go

Haldon Forest is a 15-minute drive from Exeter along the A38.
Paid parking is available at the park, and buses run from Exeter centre to Exeter Racecourse, a 1-mile walk from the park.
There are restrooms and a café in the park.
Many of the park’s trails are accessible, and Tramper and mobility scooters are available to hire.
