Weekend Trip to Greenoak Hideout

We had such a lovely stay at Greenoak. The hosts were so friendly and approachable and there were lots of lovely small touches that made the yurts feel homely and comfortable. The log burners and electric blankets meant that we were warm over night and had a really comfortable sleep. We are looking forward to going in the Summer to be able to enjoy more daylight hours. The boys (4 and 7) loved all of the friendly animals and the play equipment on the land, as well as the hot tub! We will definitely book again and would recommend to our friends and family! Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to visiting again next year!

Lovely field to camp in, beautiful views around the farm in the morning, great building to chill out in, useful facilities to store and heat food. Also loved the honesty shop with delicious pastries. Ian was very helpful with recommending local walks, and checked in throughout stay. Would love to visit again next year!

Weekend Trip to Greenoak Hideout

The setting was just perfect for our family of five (including two dogs and a 4 year old). The Yurt was comfortable, clean and very cosy. The private shower and toilet facilities were great, as was the hot tub. We had a trip to the local nature reserve during our stay, however think our daughter and the dogs were just as happy in the grounds with lots to explore, very friendly animals and lots of activities including trampoline and climbing walls. Definitely as described, and would have been absolutely gorgeous if the weather was amazing: beautiful view, fire pit and barbecue, just imagine! The weather was a bit wet and windy for us, but we still had a lovely two night stay and basically had the place to ourselves. Toilets and showers great, the little pub so nice and the farm shop an added extra. We really valued the commitment to recycling and zero waste and everyone we spoke to was super friendly. We will definitely be back!

Such a great place to go camping, the owners are amazing people and are always more then happy to help with anything, they have good facilities with hot water, showers, pot washing station, cold drinking water. They also have a small nature walk on site and long meadow grass and wild flower between plots. The plots are nicely spread out with lots of room between other campers and the pots are a good size. 10/10 would highly recommend

My children loved playing in the play area which was central to part of the campsite. This meant they could happily make friends while we could keep a watchful eye and do other things at camp. From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel incredibly welcome, friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about sharing the farm’s beautiful surroundings. The facilities were outstanding, spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed, and far better than you’d expect for a wild camping experience. Everything felt well cared for, which made our stay both comfortable and memorable. It’s such a peaceful spot, with lovely views and a relaxed atmosphere that really lets you switch off and enjoy nature. We left feeling refreshed and already planning when we can come back. Peak District National Park

Bakewell is in the Derbyshire Dales region of the Peak District National Park, which is characterised by its high moorland plateaus, steep limestone valleys, and cliffy outcrops, as well as relatively high peaks. Sherwood Forest

Visit on a day trip from Bakewell or stay at a caravan park around Cannock or Stafford to walk, cycle, or ride horses along the Cannock Chase trails.

When to go

Spring and summer are the best times to camp in and around Bakewell and the Peak District. The days are long in midsummer, especially this far north in England, and the weather is most pleasant for camping and outdoor activities. Winters can be cold in the Peak District, and snow isn’t uncommon in the hilly area. Some campsites and caravan parks close for winter, but booking a cabin or cottage may be possible for off-season visits.
