Welcome to Home Sweet Lodge, a peaceful glamping retreat in the heart of the Dordogne, France. Set on a former vineyard, 20 minutes from Bergerac and 5 minutes from the quiet village of Saint-Germain-et-Mons, we offer a quiet escape with wide-open views over the Périgord countryside and Monbazillac.
Glamping, our way
Glamping is a form of camping, but at Home Sweet Lodge, GL stands for Grand Luxe: a comfortable, warm and relaxed way to enjoy your holiday.
Privacy and space
Only five luxury safari tents are spread across 8,500 m² of grounds, so you'll enjoy plenty of privacy, space and silence. Each tent is 50 m² including its terrace, and the view from every one of them is breathtaking.
Arrive and relax
Beds are made on arrival and towels are provided. Wifi and parking are free. Just bring your suitcase and your appetite for holiday.
Your hosts
We're Audrey and Sébastien. We live nearby and are always happy to help with local tips, answer questions or simply have a chat. From time to time we open our little bar, where guests can meet over a drink and a snack.
The safari tents
Each tent sleeps up to 5 people and offers:
A fully equipped kitchen: dishwasher, induction hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, Nespresso machine, blender and all the usual appliances
Cutlery, plates, cups and glasses for 5 people
A dining area and a sitting area
A bathroom with a spacious rain shower, sink and toilet
One bedroom with a double bed, and one with single and bunk beds
A terrace with a lounge set, bar table, picnic table, parasol, sunbeds and electric barbecue
Free wifi
Our tents are named after the grape varieties once grown here: Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, Sancerre and Sauvignon. Sauvignon is wheelchair accessible thanks to its location, step-free access and layout.
The swimming pool
Our outdoor pool is heated, so you can enjoy it in early and late season as well as in summer. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols around it, and the pool is fenced so young children can't enter unaccompanied.
Sports and games
There's always something to do, for young and old: a pétanque court, football field, basketball, table tennis, swings, a playhouse, trampoline, croquet, badminton sets and more.

Great, relaxed campsite and made very welcome by the owners. Plenty of shaded pitches or others with bigger views. The safari tents were also great for us. Food at the bar and live music once a week. Clean facilities and 5 minutes from Brantome.

This is such a wonderful site. The view is absolutely incredible. We loved having the entire field to ourselves, and the facilities are very good too. There are beautiful walks and bike rides straight from the site, and amazing places to visit nearby. I would definitely recommend this site if you are looking for somewhere quiet with amazing views.

Beautiful location, fabulous campsite and wonderful hosts! Thank you for a lovely few days! Tents were very comfortable and well equipped. Having fresh bread delivered in the morning made it even more special. The pool was a hit with kids as was the badminton net! Would definitely come back.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay on Caral’s campsite. Really relaxed atmosphere which was just what we were looking for. Pool was clean and inviting during the hot weather and food and drinks available were very good. We hope to stay again when in the area and would recommend to anyone looking to explore this area.

We had an amazing stay in the Auvergne Naturelle. Kathryn and Robert are fantastic, warm, open people, and the place is just magic, hidden in Auvergne's wild nature but also with many options to do on the spot and a bit further around. I got so involved in making a wooden spoon from an apple tree branch that I am planning to continue the new woodworking hobby after the holidays, thanks to Rob. Moreover, we had a lot of great interactions with other guests - in some magic way, a lot of interesting and nice people get there:). Our 6-year-old son also had a lot of fun, especially with making a bow and swimming in their natural pool. Other details that made my days there: fresh breakfasts with delicious, the most buttery croissants I have ever had, starry nights, morning showers in the rising sun, comfortable and huge bed, campfire every night. I am just grateful I have found this place!

From their fabulous 4 course meals to croissants and french bread delivered to the tent each morning (by request), they really looked after us well. The campsite was impeccably clean and very quiet. Made to feel very welcome both before and during our stay-nothing was too much trouble-offers to collect food from the shops ,lovely bakery morning delivery (in person to the van)and delicious evening meals-OK so it was a little muddy-but the rainiest spring and summer in many years is nobody’s fault and we were sensibly advised to park our van in the gravel forecourt so it did not affect our stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Domaines des Mathevies. The owners were so friendly but with a light touch approach, the pizzas were delicious and the campsite had a lovely laid back, friendly feel to it. The pool was an added bonus to cool off after a hot and hilly cycle back from the local market in Sarlat and the facilities were always spotlessly clean. Would definitely return.

My second stay and loved every minute! If you're looking for a relaxed and informal site with two great hosts, away from the hustle and bustle of larger sites then this is for you. A super warm welcome and choice of any available pitch sets the tone for your stay. Not too many rules and hoist always willing to help out in any way they can, Enjoyed being educated in French music, eating home made honey and chatting away in the sunshine.
Facilities are clean and the quiet pool with no inflatables is an added bonus!
Brantome is 10 mins away if you want a taste of village life.
We will be back again for sure!

Where to go
Perigord Vert
The Dordogne’s four regions are named for the color of their natural surroundings, starting with the lush green woods of the “Perigord Vert” in the north. The hilly north is the place to escape the crowds, whether hiking and camping in the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin, or hopping between the towns of Brantôme, Jumilhac le grand, and Ribérac.
Perigord Blanc
The pale rocky landscapes of the Perigord Blanc are the central heart of the Dordogne. Departmental capital Périgueux is the obvious starting point, with its impressive Roman ruins and lively weekly markets, where you can feast on regional specialties like foie gras, fresh strawberries, and truffles. Campers have plenty of options, whether you prefer a 5-star campsite with a swimming pool and water park, a fully equipped mobile home, or a tranquil rural Hipcamp.
Perigord Noir
The oak-shaded hills of the Dordogne Valley are home to the region’s biggest crowd-pleasers, from the UNESCO-listed Lascaux Caves to the gravity-defying mediaeval citadel of Rocamadour. Discover the mediaeval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda, go kayaking along the Vézère and Dordogne rivers, and explore hilltop castles like the Château de Castelnaud and Beynac-et-Cazenac.
Perigord Pourpre
The southwest “purple” region is named for its wine, most notably the sweet white wines of the Monbazillac domaine—make sure you work some wine tasting into your camping trip.
