Note: We have a Bonners Ferry, ID mailing address but our physical location is approximately 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry and 1 mile South of Eastport, ID. We are a mile South of the Canadian Border just off US 95. Also, please note: Our tent campsite and RV campsite have separate booking sites but share the same shelter and toilet. If you book either site the "other" booking site is blocked during your stay. You are in a forest on land shaped by the last Ice Age, The forest has nurtured generations of of wildlife including majestic birds of prey. It sustained the Kootenai People before borders separated their lands. It saw determined miners pass this way seeking their fortune in gold from British Columbia. This forest supplied timber to build railroads and homes for families in the western migration. Our family is the current steward of this forest and it is our wish to respectfully share its beauty and observe its wildlife with your family and friends! Our Forest is surrounded by Kaniksu National Forest which is managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) as part of the Idaho Panhandle. National Forest.. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 95 miles long. The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites. There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services. There is a fire pit (firewood provided), covered shelter, a USFS-style charcoal grill, (bring charcoal and starter), picnic table, benches, bear-proof food storage box and TEMPORARY trash bin. Please plan to "pack-out" all of your trash and recyclables. There are a lot of deer roaming the property, along with many birds and other wildlife . OUR NIGHTLY CHARGE Includes all the firewood you need and a 10% Hipcamp Service Fee. It does not include 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Convention and Travel Tax. Be Bear Aware : From April 1 - November 1 all food, beverages and trash must never be left unattended and, all of the same, be stored properly. Our Bear Box is large and can accommodate your supplies and cooler.

The riverside camp site, including a 12x16 tent pad is about 30 yards from the riverbank and ideally suited for a tent ,van or small pop-up style trailer (15 ft. Max. See separate listing for larger RV’s and Travel Trailers). It is shaded by more than a dozen Western Red Cedars. The approach is a moderate downhill back-in.  There is a large pasture along the river for walking or sitting to enjoy the beauty of North Idaho. On our property, you are surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains.  The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors.   You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Due to popular demand from Hipcampers, we have added an RV/Trailer/Camper Parking Campsite for Vehicles too long or heavy for the tent pad campsite. (Popup Tent Trailers can book the Cedar Grove Tent Campsite, 15 ft. limit not incl. pop-outs). The current length limit is 21 feet. (Our limit is due to a limited back-in turning radius) There is a 100’ water hookup hose and a power hook-up with 30 and 50 Amp service. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE PROPER HOOKUPS AND ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO HANDLE EV CHARGING. ANY UNAUTHORIZED ATTEMPTS TO CHARGE EV"S ARE AT THE VEHICLE OWNERS RISK AND ANY DAMAGE TO OUR PROPERTY WILL BE THE EV OWNERS/BOOKING HIPCAMPERS FULL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Please note if you book this parking space, the Cedar Grove Campsite listing will be blocked for privacy during your stay. Please also note there is a 10 day maximum stay limit for RV’s, Travel Trailers and Campers. Thanks. The level gravel RV/Travel Trailer/Camper parking site is next to  The Iron Horse Forest Cedar Grove Tent Campsite. Back-in parking with water and power hook-ups. WATER HOOK-Up via 100ft. (Lead Free) drinking water hose. POWER HOOK-UP via power pedestal with 120V, 30,50 and 20 amp service options. NOTE: Again, Tent ⛺️ camping at the nearby Cedar Grove Tent Campsite will be blocked during your booking/ stay at the RV/Travel Trailer/Camper parking site. For larger parties who wish to use both the parking and tent pad facilities you can rent both sites for your stay.  Contact me, your friendly host,  to remove the booking block for either site.

The River Cabin (192 sf) overlooks the unspoiled Moyie River.  Enjoy walking in the forest or sitting  by the river to enjoy the beauty of North Idaho. The cabin is surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains and is private with no view of neighbors property and is situated in a 15.4 acre Certified Family Forest.  If you hear the rumble of a train at night it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the cabin. There is No Mobile Phone Service.  There is WIFI at The River Cabin. We suggest you activate “Cell over WIFI" on your mobile phone for safety (911 access). There is a variety of wildlife on and around the property. The log cabin has electricity, with seasonally appropriate fans/heaters. There is a small refrigerator with freezer compartment, 1.4 cf Microwave, a hot plate, a Keurig coffeemaker, pans and a toaster oven. It has a set of twin size bunk beds, a twin size Futon/sofa. The small loft has two sleeping mats.  The luxury (new for 2023) vault-style outhouse is nearby. The cabin does not have water, but a spigot at the host's cabin provides fresh well water;  a short haul to the cabin. (Extending water to the cabin is a work in progress)  A Gorilla Polycart (13” tires) is on-site for moving larger water containers.  A camp site sized area between the cabin and river overlook has a fire pit, covered shelter, featuring a USFS-style charcoal grill, benches and picnic table and a Bear Box for food and beverage storage ( April 1 until November 1 ). Firewood is provided but bring your own charcoal. Size wise it is ideal for a couple.  There is also room for a small tent site near the fire pit area and a larger tent site across from the cabin for additional guests. There is a hammock and disc golf “hole”. OUR NIGHTLY FEE Includes all the firewood you need, various cabin supplies and 10% Hipcamp Service Fee. It does not include the 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Travel and Convention Tax.

Great Far North

Iron Horse Forest River Cabin
Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

What a great spot! Paul is a welcoming host that has set up a great site for guests. There is a nice building with a shower, and a separate toilet building. It’s a beautiful, peaceful, nicely maintained property. My dogs were very at home there. I would love to stay there again.

One of my, my friends and my animals favorite places to stay.. Quite.. beautiful.. deer, squirrels, birds, river otters and other animal friends make it that much more special.. We love that we don't have to bring a lot for the trip to be comfortable in the cabin.. Thank you Paul.

We really enjoyed our time at the Cedar Grove Campsite! The setting was beautiful, peaceful and serene. The river was just yards away from our camper. The bathroom and shower buildings were very clean and well equipped. We were able to explore the property freely and felt comfortable and able to relax. Our dog was able to roam around with us as well. She loved it! Paul was easy to communicate with annd answered all of our questions ahead of arrival. Highly recommend the Copper Creek Falls hike. Short and easy, with picturesque falls at the end!

Loved Paul’s little slice of the outdoors. Everything was thought of. Hookups , Bath house and bathroom right near the site. Lots of privacy. My boys loved fishing and exploring across the river, and Copper falls was a good hour excursion right around the corner. Only thing I accidentally over looked was this place is by the railroad. My toddler wasn’t such a super fan of that in the middle of the night , so if you’re tenting it just be aware it comes a couple times at night. Mosquitos are vicious - pack allllll the candles, spray and torches- day and night. We will be back next year, this place is so tranquil and leaves so much to be appreciated .

Wow, what a beautiful property and incredible accommodations! This was easily the nicest Hipcamp I’ve ever stayed in. The shower, bathroom, and dining areas were immaculate, and the grounds by the river were gorgeous. We only stayed one night but would have happily spent the weekend if we’d been able to. Highly recommend!

Great spot with river access, shade and so many amenities, it felt almost like glamping! Very thoughtfully outfitted. You can hear traffic and the train (road and tracks are quite near), but we quickly got used to that. Our three dogs had a wonderful time exploring and fishing for rocks in the river. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again - they may have spoiled us for other more ‘rustic’ spots in the future!

We had a really fun time staying in the cabin! It was very cute and had everything we needed. The fire pit / covered picnic table / bench swing area provided a beautiful view of the river and surrounding mountains. My husband was very happy with the trout he caught and the kiddos had a lot of fun playing in the river. Definitely recommend!

Paul has an amazing get away in the perfect location. It's right off the highway, so it has easy access. It is incredibly secluded and shows incredible thought into every aspect. The cabin is thoughtfully equipped with all the things that makes for a relaxing stay. He is fantastic with communication, too. Thanks for a great stay!

The area of the camp itself is beautiful. Truly a feast for the eyes. Right on the river. The accommodations at the camp are the nicest I’ve seen with HipCamp. We tented it. The open kitchen area is excellent, the lav was above ordinary, the shower even more so. The owner has put in some work. Nice work! Took a peek at the cabin area. If we come back for a hideaway, that would be our goal.

This is a fantastic campsite. We loved the nicely placed benches, table, and access to the water. Falling asleep to the sound of the rushing river was wonderful. The hot shower was a bonus. (If camping here be prepared for mosquitoes.)

We absolutely loved this place. It was much nicer than we expected. The scenery was amazing. The set up and the new showers were really nice. We visited it while there was no one else there and all of the campground is separated from the cabin side. you feel really secluded there highly recommend this place and we will definitely go back again. The little store in good grief was nice and the people there were really nice. Some nice hikes are very close by all the communication was great with Paul. Thank you very much for sharing your space.

Beautiful place. Scenery, right on the river was perfect. Everything was taken care of and provided for. I would recommend this for anyone, but bring your bug repellent. The mosquitoes were hungry.

We returned this year after our marvelous, relaxing stay last year. The temps were above normal last year, but the river was great for fishing and cooling off. This year the weather decided to be much cooler, and we had a day of heavy rain. BUT we had plenty of wood for the fire pit, and plenty of room under the shelter to play card games and laugh. A great time. The last day was quite pleasant weather-wise, and we were glad. Sorry we didn’t get one more day. We will be back!!!

We normally camp on public land but since having kids we’ve enjoyed not hunting for sites and using HipCamp. Paul’s camp is wonderful. The views, the amenities and the location. We enjoyed hiking, fishing and sightseeing during our stay. The kids loved playing at the playground and we enjoyed splashing in the river as well. Perfect spot for littles.

Our stay at Paul’s cabin was one of the best camping experiences we have had! The kids loved the playground and being right by the river. We were able to wade in and collect a few rocks. The river view is so beautiful. The table, swing, grill and fire pit is in the perfect location to enjoy the view. We made pocket stew! Everything needing to have a fun, safe, comfortable cabin camping experience was provided. Paul was away during our stay but was available for any questions via messaging. WIFI was spotty at the cabin but we wanted to unplug anyway. Updated shower house was relaxing after a long day. We definitely want to stay again and will highly recommend this place!

Absolutely amazing as always. Paul has a really special property and we love visiting. The setting is perfect with the river and everything has been carefully thought through. Its one of out favorite camping spots and we will be back.

This campsite was perfect. We enjoyed ourselves so much. This is our second stay here. Once at the cabin and once camping. Both are unique experiences with many thoughtful additions. They put in an amazing shower. Loved our stay!

My wife and me loved the Iron horse Forest River Cabin! Paul is a fantastic host and has such beautiful property. He is so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a perfect weekend retreat for us. His land is so peaceful and quiet in nature. Exactly what we needed. We will definitely come back in the near future!
