Discover Cypress Hills: A Haven of Scenic Trails and Starry Nights.

As Canada’s only interprovincial park, Cypress Hills straddles the Saskatchewan–Alberta border and offers a range of activities on both sides. The Saskatchewan side of the park is divided into three sections: Centre Block, with the majority of the facilities (a swimming pool, an observatory for Dark Sky Preserve stargazing, golfing, and interpretive activities) and five main campgrounds; the West Block Wilderness Area, loved by backcountry and equestrian campers for its hiking trails and horseback riding; and Fort Walsh, offering a step back in time at Fort Walsh National Historic Site. In Alberta, you’ll find the town of Elkwater and camping at its Elkwater Lake.
The best time to visit Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is from May to September when full services are available. Winter offers a unique charm with snow activities, but be prepared for colder weather and limited services.
