Cedar Root Woods is hidden just outside of Portland on 20 acres of forests, trails, a small spring-fed pond
and a wood fired sauna. Your host Brad
who lives nearby in a Timberframe home built from the trees on the land. 2 tent campsites (sites #3 #4) and two RV/car camping areas (sites #1 #2) allow plenty of private space for you or your family.
Brad's campsite offers a serene and spacious setting, surrounded by beautiful forests and a charming pond, making it a favorite among families and nature enthusiasts. Guests appreciate the privacy and well-maintained sites, with many noting the excellent communication and hospitality of the host, Brad. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few guests have highlighted concerns about privacy due to the proximity of the host's residence. Despite this, the campsite is praised for its convenience, cleanliness, and family-friendly amenities, making it a popular choice for those visiting the area.
Great spot to camp! Beautiful campsites with plenty of space, shade, and close to pond (we stayed in #4). Host, Brad, was very welcoming and gave us a layout of his peaceful property. Our family had a great time, relaxing around the fire pit, walking the trails and feeding the fish/salamanders in the pond.
Great spot! Had fun with my two boys by the ponds. Great communication from Brad and appreciated being able to use Brad's large wheelbarrow to carry some of our gear from the car. Highly recommend!
I loved camping at Brad’s place. Gorgeous place and just what I needed.
Brad was great to communicate with, met me upon my arrival, and showed me my spot.
While doing a winter road trip, this host helped us out big time! At 10PM in December we tried to find a campsite and they were all closed! (Duh, it’s snowing lol) I hopped on hipcamp and Brads property was available, immediately! The host immediate messaged us with all information and answering all questions. Even came outside after 11PM to greet us and show us where to park! He is was truly awesome. Absolutely awesome space amidst beautiful greenery and a sweet pond! Oh! The best part! HE ALLOWED OUR DOGS! And they definitely approved. Thank you for giving us a safe space to land and goals to pursue something awesome like this one day!
Brad's property is beautiful and magical. We loved our stay, although a bit short. We would love to come back someday for longer. Great spot for RVs, but the tent sites looked amazing! Brad is a wonderful host who truly cares about sharing the beauty of nature with his guests.
Brad's 4 Hipcamp spots are well cared for and offer plenty of space and privacy. We will return!
The location is ~15 minutes to Lumber Park and Estacada - fun and beautiful.
Site 4 was so perfect for our first camping experience with our toddler! There was no one at site 3, so we had the space to ourselves to wander the area, watch newts swim in the pond, forage for blackberries, and soak up the luxury of a camping outhouse. We would definitely return and would recommend it to others!
We had an awesome stay! The campsite was spacious and clean. We enjoyed camping so close to the pond and walking around the property. A great shady spot to escape the summer heat. Thank you Brad!
Camping was a great escape for the family, not far at all from home! Brad was very welcoming and my kids enjoyed exploring the 20 acres. Will definitely be returning.
We had campsite 4. We absolutely loved it. Campsite 3 was empty when we arrived and the whole time we were there so it was even more private. It was very close to the outhouse. Although it was a decent walk to the site from the parking lot but, not too bad at all. To the site is downhill. We had two kids with us and they had a great time. Brad came down to visit and was so nice to us and them. He has a trail we were able to walk with wildflowers. 10/10 spot. We would love to go back if we get the chance.
Cedar root HipCamp is so nice and quiet and peaceful. The forest environment is magical and Brad is a thoughtful host. He is very communicative and has created a lovely environment for an onsite stay, with proximity to all the Portland metro area has to offer. I would definitely stay there again!
We were in site #1 which was great for my 3 kids, aged 4 and under. In fact, I'd discourage sites 3 and 4 if you have toddlers since they're closer to the pond. Which was so awesome by the way. It was murderously hot and the pond was cool and delightful to play in. Site #1 is also immediately next to the swing set and playhouse, so again, great for young kids.
We actually had to leave a day early because the baby wasn't into it, but we plan to stay here again next year.
Gorgeous piece of property!! This is the second time I've stayed on Brad's property and it felt so cool that he remembered me! While friends and I were planning a trip to Portland, I recommend staying here, both because of how close it is to the city, but also because of how beautiful the property was and I wanted to show off my find. Brad is always so kind and helpful. I highly recommend both the property itself and Brad as a host.
Brad has a great set up for camping. Very family friendly. Near the camp sites is a large meadow you can take a nice stroll through. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear. We saw newts, snakes, and fish in the pond. Rabbits, chipmunks, and deer in the meadow and field. Listened to coyotes and owls all night.
Excellent little campsite that felt like we were miles away from home (and we weren’t)! Brad provided helpful information prior to the trip and we were able to settle right in. Nice property to walk around with our dogs. Everything we needed for a quick weekend retreat in the woods.
This wonderful property was beautiful and quiet, a perfect getaway outside of Portland. Site 2 (all sites) were spaced far enough away from each other that you weren’t on top of other campers and gave ample room.
Brad was very friendly and inviting when I arrived (he was actually there when so many are not!). He took me on a tour of the property, giving detailed instructions and made sure that I was well set up to enjoy my stay. He stopped by later to check in and make sure I had everything I needed and I got to meet his beautiful dog Mac! He was friendly, yet not intrusive, only wanting to ensure a good stay. His property was easy to find, had a potable water source and an A-frame outhouse, as well as having stunning views of the sun setting. He has availability for three RV’s and four walk-in tent spaces next to a pond. I was car camping and stayed in an RV/tent site and I felt safe and welcomed.
If you are looking for a nice secluded, well maintained site that has everything you could think of, site 3 at Cedar Roots is just what you need. Potable water and outhouse super close to site made it super convenient. Didn’t even feel like we were on someone’s property at all. Owner is super friendly and area was located near some hikes and paddleboard spots we wanted to check out. Overall a great experience!
Brad’s place is a perfect little gem! It exceeded our expectations and we would definitely come back. Lots of shade which made a world of difference with the heat wave. Brad provided us with a few options for places to swim nearby and answered all pf our questions! Would definitely recommend
Stayed at site 3 with two four year olds and it was perfect. We had more than enough room for the girls to play around the campsite where we could keep our eyes on them but they had some independence. They loved the pond and running around in the wooded area. Brad was an awesome host- friendly, welcoming, and communicative. Never stayed at a campsite with an outhouse so clean! The playground was a plus for the kids as well. We loved our stay and would book the site again.
Beautiful quiet forest spot that was easy to find and convenient. I stayed in camp site 2 with a Eurovan camper and did not need levelers because the site was flat where I parked.
Camp site 3 was beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. Brad left a cart out that was super helpful in getting everything from the car to the site. We only spent 1 night but are already talking about visiting Portland again just to go back! The pond was full of the best surprises including newts and trout. We even saw a frog and giant banana slug. The bird songs in the morning and owls in the evening made it feel magical. I highly recommend visiting and staying with Brad. Also if you buy a bundle of wood, he provides an impressive amount for the minor cost.
This is an amazing spot! Brad is super kind and communicative. We bought the firewood bundle and he supplied us with a great amount. We had site 3 which is an amazing spot right next to the pond where there’s little salamanders and fish swimming about. The fire pit was perfect and had some seating too! There were some really great hammock spots as well. All in all, an amazing little trip, would definitely recommend this place!
