Escape to Deer Lake wilderness Retreat, a unique glamping getaway in the heart of the scenic Almaguin Highlands. With just two sites spread out across 10 acres, each one has its own private outdoor space making it a perfect place to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with each other. The Stargazer Geodome welcomes you with its large panoramic window and amazing view of the forest and the Cozy Cabin is just that cozy! AN OUTDOOR PLAYLAND Nestled in the hills and lakes of cottage country, the Almaguin Highlands is a four season outdoor playland. Winter brings snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling at our doorstep and dog sledding just 30 minutes away. In the warmer weather enjoy water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, ATVing, or take a road trip to visit our quaint villages and artisan galleries. From May to October your stay comes with a FREE PROVINCIAL PARK PASS to nearby Mikisew which has clean quiet beaches, great hiking trails, and a frisbee golf course. End your day mesmerized by "nature’s TV" as the flames from your campfire dance under the starry night sky. MAGIC AND MAIN STREET We are a 20-minute drive from South River where you’ll find the Crystal Caves, the biggest mineral exhibit in Canada and the most magical crystal shop you will ever set foot inside guaranteed. Then head 10 minutes down the road to Sundridge where you’ll find a quaint main street featuring a cozy cafe, shops and restaurants. PETS WELCOME Share your glamping adventure with your fur baby for a $50 pet fee. In summer Mikisew Provincial Park has a dog beach where they can romp around and cool off. $99 SUNDAYS If you book the Cozy Cabin on a Friday and Saturday night, ask me how to add Sunday night for just $99. Escape to The Cozy Cabin, a cheerful getaway in the heart of the scenic Almaguin Highlands. Slow down time and rejuvenate your life at Deer Lake Wilderness Retreat. With just two sites spread out across 10 acres, each one has its own private outdoor space making it a perfect place to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with each other. GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS When you arrive at the Cozy Cabin, the first thing you’ll notice is the woodland views surrounding you on all sides beckoning you in. Soak up the ambiance of the living room, play a round of cards by firelight, make a tasty meal in the quaint kitchenette, then escape to the loft where you’ll find a luxurious queen sized bed and a reading corner with a comfy bean bag chair. AN OUTDOOR PLAYLAND Nestled in the hills and lakes of cottage country, the Almaguin Highlands is a four season outdoor playland. Winter brings snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling at our doorstep and dog sledding just 30 minutes away. In the warmer weather enjoy water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, ATVing, or take a road trip to visit our quaint villages and artisan galleries. From May to October your stay comes with a FREE PROVINCIAL PARK PASS to nearby Mikisew which has clean quiet beaches. GLAMOROUS CAMPING AT ITS FINEST The Cozy Cabin is partially off-grid—it has electricity but no running water—and every effort is made to make it a comfortable experience for you. The kitchenette comes fully stocked for cooking including water, an air-fryer/toaster-oven, convection burner, fridge and BBQ. The brand new indoor loo features a camping toilet and there is a comfortable outhouse down the lane. This is an excellent opportunity to disconnect from technology, and although we do not have wifi, we do have excellent cell phone reception. The hot water shower in the communal barn freezes in the winter but if this happens most of the time I am here and arrangements can be made to shower in my house, which is also on the property. PLEASE NOTE that in the winter it is a two minute walk from the guest parking lot, a toboggan for your stuff and snowshoes are provided. PERFECT FOR MORE THAN ONE COUPLE OR FAMILIES The Cozy Cabin can sleep four people when you use the pull out sofa bed.

The Stargazer Geodome is glamping at its best. When you arrive the coziness of the geodome will welcome you in with its shabby chic decor and all you'll have to do is unpack and relax. Enjoy a drink while gazing out at the woodland view through the panoramic window, then stargaze through the skylight snuggled up in a cozy king sized bed. The brand new indoor loo features a camping toilet and a pristine outhouse is just steps from your front door. This is an excellent opportunity to disconnect from technology, and although we do not have wifi, we do have excellent cell phone reception. There is a shared hot water shower in the communal barn but sometimes the water freezes in the winter. If this happens most of the time I am here and arrangements can be made to shower in my house, which is also on the property. Deer Lake Lodge is a four bedroom farmhouse that started out life as a hunting lodge and has been lovingly restored while maintaining its rustic charm. The first thing you’ll notice is the large eat in family kitchen beckoning you in with a dining table that can comfortably seat up to eight people making it the perfect way to come together for meals. The homey living room features two sofas, a Smart TV, a wood stove, and lots of board games for spending quality time together. If you need some alone time, soaking in the heavenly clawfoot bathtub is a tiny bit of heaven. OUTDOOR LIVING AT ITS FINEST Two large outdoor porches provide quiet corners to enjoy a drink while taking in the magnificent view. The deck has an outdoor table and a sitting area while you cook up a feast on the BBQ or fire up the wood-burning pizza oven. Connect with family and friends as you sit around the campfire at the end of the day mesmerized by "nature’s TV" as the flames from your campfire dance under the starry night sky. The cabin is very cozy. The fireplace kicks out enough heat without additional heaters and the bed is super comfy. We loved all the windows to the woods.

THE STARGAZER GEODOME: Shabby Chic
This was our first camping/glamping of our lives and first time with Hipcamp as well. We loved our stay at Stargazer Geodome and we definetly want to go back next summer (we live far) or in the winter! You can watch the stars like Sara posted in the listing, we were amazed!!

THE COZY CABIN: Totally Tranquil
What a cozy place to stay at. Right when we entered in we were in awe. We unfortunately couldn't check in until dark and it was a bit cold outside so Sara put a heater on for us and kept some lanterns on so we could see. The place was very easy to find even in the dark. The wood burning stove was awesome and Sara left wood, paper and tinder in the cabin for us to use. Everything was very clean. Would definitely go back again.

THE STARGAZER GEODOME: Shabby Chic
The stargazer geodome was even lovelier than advertised. The view from the panoramic window was so relaxing, even though there was no snow. Sara has thought of everything and even added a few appreciated extras, such as games, latterns with charging ports, and automatic nightlight by the door and hot water bottles to keep you toasty warm. The bed was incredible, I was so warm and cozy that I let the fire go out overnight, and although the dome was chilly in the morning it warmed up quickly with the propane heater. My dog loved the fact that she could safely be off leash and spent the majority of her time exploring the area around the dome. Sara is a wonderful host and her property is a piece of paradise.

My husband and I had the most wholesome weekend at Sara’s Geodome. The entire process of checking in/checking out was so smooth thanks to Sara. The Geodome has everything you need to ensure you’ll have a comfortable stay. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

A great retreat. The cozy cabin lived up to it's name. Everything was built for a nice little getaway. Supplies were plentiful and dogs were friendly. Would love to come back and try the geodome!

Sara was very accommodating and very easy to reach whenever we had a question or concern. I’ll definitely keep this place in mind the next time I want to get away from the busy and loud environment of the city!

We had an awesome time! The cabin was very cute and cozy. We loved having the fire on all day and night. Loved the big windows on the first level and it was fun sleeping in a loft! The parking isn’t far from the cabin and same with the outhouse. The barn has lots of fun board games to choose from as well.

We loved our stay at the cozy cabin! We stayed with our three big dogs and had an an amazing time exploring all the beautiful property! Sarah was very accommodating and welcoming during our stay, she allowed us to check out at our convenience the last day because she didn't have anyone booked in the cabin and stoped by with her adorable pup to day hello and have a lovely chat! We will definitely be coming back!

THE COZY CABIN: Totally Tranquil
Great experience, cabin is really confortable, Sara is a really nice host. It has everything to grill, everything to make a nice breakfast in the cabin, really no need to bring any water. Barn is a few minutes from the cabin, there's astove, sink with running water, everything you need to cook a nice meal, also a shower with hot water. Washroom is a few minutes from the cabin, there's a shower with hot water.
