Glamping Casita in the Gila
The casita was lovely. It is ideally located to do hiking in Gila, and so nice to be able to go somewhere without cell coverage or wifi. There is space on the property to take in the sunset and stargaze. I had a wonderful time here. Thank you Jennifer!

Site 3 - Campsites at Sapillo Creek Escape
We were a bit discouraged about the campsite. It was overgrown and not well taking care of. The signs were busted and difficult to find. The owner also didn't mention the danger of the boars/pigs in the area since we had a dog with us. They only mentioned it after we showed up to the campsite. Also, the campsite was still a bit of a walk from the creek. It wasn't physically on the creek as advertised. I do hope the owners will take better care of the land for those who would like to camp comfortably even if it's tent camping, etc.

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Very cute spot with lots of room! Stayed here two nights in February ended up being a very cozy stay and had lots of basic items someone might need and ended up working out great for our trip! The only thing I want to give a heads up about is the bathroom. I'm only 5'8" and could not fit comfortably in the bathroom and it's also kinda low to the ground. Was a rather awkward experience using.

Can’t find campsite!
The area was lovely and remote, however we were unable to locate the campsite due to the area being completely overgrown. We could barely see the sign for parking, and ended up having to drive into the brush that was taller than the car. We ended up flattening the grass on the side of the road with the car and pitching the tent there because there was no visible trail to the campsite anywhere. It was a fine experience but not quite what we had in mind!

Beautiful area all around fabulous
Very comfortable, clean, great bed and amenities. But no phone service in the whole area or wi-fi or radio. I did a lot of reading. In spite of all the rain and mud I would stay there again but maybe at a different time. Thanks HipCamp for another great place to visit

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Nice getaway
The casita is cute and as advertised. My husband and I and two kids (age 1 and 4) stayed for two nights. The bed was comfortable. We brought a sleeping bag and pack n play for the kids. It was nice and cozy, but not too cramped. We went to the gila cliff dwellings (about 20 miles away) one day and silver city the next (about an hour). The check in directions were easy. The area is pretty and quiet. Overall we had a nice stay.
Glamping Casita in the Gila
The location is great. Very quiet and peaceful and plenty of trees to keep you cool.
I would those who are not used to roughing it with a portable toilet and no running water to think twice. If you truly like camping and don’t miss the nice things then this is 100% for you
The drive up is a treat in itself!
I really loved the place but my wife didn’t as much as I did.

The casita was so cute and very thoughtfully decorated. Surrounding land is gorgeous. Must set up outdoor camping toilet and shower. Many electrical cooking appliaces available. Everything was very well organized, and Jennifer was very helpful.

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Super cute, very comfortable bed, and awesome location. We couldn't find a good place to hang the shower, and it was way too cold to expect to be able to do the outside shower anyway. It's like camping but with a warm, comfy bed!

Quiet and scenic; served my needs.
I stayed 2 nights in Campsite #1, closest to the parking area. This is a good flat site secluded behind scrub and small trees, along with a steep ridge to the south. It is alongside the trail to the other 3 campsites, so in that regard you should expect some foot traffic if the other sites are occupied. This location is a great base-camp for day trips to explore the Gila Wilderness. Very private the first night (no other campers), but also nice to talk to the other campers from distant places who arrived the next day.

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Unique and pleasant.
This is a great spot if you've evolved past and are done with the motels at the Interstate exit. The "Escape" is truly off the beaten path and is quite private. It is a great place to disconnect and to really get away from it all. The casita is warm and comfortable, surrounded by great scenery and is a perfect gateway to the Gila Wilderness. Host Jennifer is as nice as she can be and made us feel very welcome. We even got a private tour of the large adobe home on the property, built over the course of 7 years by the previous owner and his help with materials harvested from the property. Beautiful! The Escape is probably not for everyone, but those with an adventurous spirit who long for some peace and quiet in a unique setting will love it!

Awesome , peaceful. Cozy!
The two night stay at the Casita hip camp was so cool! We really loved the way it was set up! It was peaceful and comfortable. Was real close to Lake Roberts. It was so cool how the whole property was set up with all the cowboy themed items .

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Cool, dry and close to the gila
Overall we were happy for our stay and enjoyed listening and to the thunder and the birds move overhead. The architecture here is a trip... makes you feel like it’s a movie set.
The ups:
Being so close to the Gila is wonderful (check out Forks Day Use swim hole!), and the host was very nice. It stormed while we were visiting and we were grateful for a real roof!
The casita stays very cool which was great for mid day napping and getting out of the heat.
There are forest roads within walking distance (at the end of Box Elder RD) and back access to the lake (follow the path at the end of creek RD and walk up the backside of the dam)
The downs:
The bed. It might be ok for 1 person, as there is a sweet spot in the middle, but could use an upgraded mattress. We also ended up using our own sheets as the ones on the bed had dog hair on them.
The outdoor spaces: the bathroom sitch is not ideal, not a lot of privacy, and the tents you have to set up and tear down are like putting together ikea furniture. (We later saw from Airbnb posts that as long as you dig away from the house that a hole is fine... and, by us, preferred than all the plastic options. )
A table/ sink near the water for a hand and dish washing would help glamp up the outdoor hang space and be way easier on the back. A table to eat outside would be nice too!

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Very relaxing and calm
I used to spend a lot of time as a child with my family in the Gila and it was wonderful to find this little casita to stay at. it was very clean and had all the essentials, plus a very comfortable bed. We brought our own camping equipment, but the kettle and extra skillets were very useful to us. The only thing that was odd to me was that there are only two windows that do not open, so we had to leave the door open at night to keep fresh air circulating. With the door screen to keep bugs out, it worked out quite well. For the first time in months, I found myself actually relaxed! So thank you! Hope to come back.

Perfect spot for exploring Gila!
Spent two nights at campsite 1 and it was very well kept. Originally wanted to stay at campsite 3 but arrived after dark and wouldn’t have been able to find it. None the less, the creek was a few feet away and still had privacy. The mornings were nice and shaded with trees. Saw some deer one morning. We drove a short way to hike and then went to lake Roberts and fished. It was the perfect place to stay for exploring Gila.

Glamping Casita in the Gila
Beats our expectations!
This glamping site was just as we had expected, based on its hipcamp description, and even better!!
"Better" because, once there, we discovered that we could walk the back way (the shortcut) to Lake Roberts; we could also hike freely in the National Forest, which begins just 50 feet or so behind the casita.
To top it off, the bed was super-comfy and the mini-fridge has a freezer compartment that WORKS!!! I/we would definitely come back, if the circumstances allowed.

Love the bubbling creek
Stayed here one night on a whim, was looking to see the Gila Forest and most campgrounds were closed due to Covid-19. Getting to the site was simple enough and host gave special directions via message. I have T-mobile and had reception/coverage the whole time, which was cool.
The property itself is great, and I stayed at campsite 1. If you can, I would stay at sites 3 or 4 for additional isolation. My site was closest to the creek and parking lot which had their own benefits but I feel like I missed out a little by not venturing in further. All in all a great space, a great reason to dive into the Gila. Saw a big bushy-tail fox, javelina and the milky way. Woke up to hummingbirds peeking in my tent. Great nights sleep, felt safe, would stay again and recommend to friends!

Site 2 - Campsites at Sapillo Creek Escape
The site was isolated and super close to Lake Roberts which was our desired destination. Havalina visited us at night which was troublesome since we had a small baby and dogs who insisted on protecting...lol. During the pandemic it was a perfect isolated retreat. The site is very rustic and trails are narrow. We brought a foldable wagon to bring in supplies.

Great spot on a gurgling desert cre
I really enoyed camping here on an expedition to search out Gila Trout. Site #1, where I camped, is located very near the creek. Great for those of us who sleep best to water sounds.
Bonus was a group of javelinas who ambled down to the creek right after I arrived - I'd never seen one before. One stood on the bank and posed for a photo.
Jennifer was the perfect host. She patiently directed back down to the parking area when she saw me lost and wandering around the casitas. And she was very understanding when I got stranded by car trouble and was unable to check out on time.
This is beautiful, but rugged and remote, country. Be prepared!
