Welcome to Shirewoods Farm! Unwind from the hustle of city life with a refreshing escape to the countryside. Shirewoods Farm offers a peaceful retreat where you can reconnect with nature, breathe deeply, and experience the rhythms of farm life firsthand. Our unique glamping stays let you relax in comfort, surrounded by fields, forests, and friendly farm vibes. Shirewoods is a working farm with goats, sheep, horses, pigs, ducks and chickens. Join us for a guided Farm Tour for a chance to meet the animals, and learn about our sustainability practices—including feeding livestock with rescued produce and brewery grain. For outdoor adventures, explore the 11 km of scenic trails next door in Hemer Provincial Park, or venture out to one of the 70+ hiking spots in the Nanaimo area. You’re also just minutes from WildPlay Nanaimo (zip lines, axe throwing, ropes courses) and the refreshing Nanaimo River swimming hole. Only 11 minutes drive to the Duke Point Ferry terminal. Come experience the charm of the farm, naturally.

The dome overlooks the pastures, and guests often enjoy waking up to either the horses or goats grazing nearby. In the wet seasons, the ducks will likely run past on their way to their forest mini-pond (or maybe big puddle is a better descriptor). In the front area of the dome, guests have access to their own picnic table and fire pit. During the summer months there are also 4 glamping tents run by Elevated Escapes. The campsites are spread across ~ 7 acres, so a decent size for everyone to have their own space. Shirewoods Farm is only a km away from the famous Crow and Gate Pub. The first neighbourhood pub in BC, with a welcoming olde English style atmosphere and amazing food. A grocery store, liquor store, general store, another pub and restaurants are all within 3 kms.

Unplug and unwind in our wall tent, tucked into a quiet corner of our small family farm. Wake to birdsong and enjoy a peaceful escape surrounded by trees, fresh air, and the rhythms of farm life. What to expect: • Comfortable bed made up & ready for your stay • Outdoor cooking area with propane camp stove and prep space • Basic cookware, dishes and utensils • Solar lanterns and simple outdoor seating • Shared modern washroom with hot water, just a short walk away • Potable water access in the common area behind the washroom We allow pets for a $25 per pet/per booking. If you would like to bring your pet, please add Pet Fee which is listed as an extra during the booking process. Guests are welcome to book a farm tour during their stay to meet our friendly animals, learn about our pasture-raised heritage breeds, and hear about our sustainable farming practices. Otherwise, feel free to relax, enjoy the peaceful setting, or go for a walk—just please be mindful of fencing and other guest areas (you can refer to the listing map to see where other camp spots are located). If you'd like to visit the barnyard or farmhouse area and see the animals over the fence, please touch base with us first so we can make sure it's a good time.

Shirewoods Farm Glamping Tent
Bernadette and her family are top notch hosts. The tent is beautiful with all the possible camping kitchen gear you might need. All of the sites on property have their own space. The bathroom and shower are clean and easily accessible. Best of all, we were lucky enough to have a detailed farm tour with the animals. Jordan enthusiastically gave us a twilight tour telling us about the animals, sharing special details and stories, and answering so many questions. So much love and care going into this property. A truly magical place!

Great place to spend a few days! Close to town and some nice trails. Very quiet and peaceful. The family that owns and runs the property is fantastic! Highly recommend taking the tour. We would stay again.

Bernadette is such an amazing host! She made sure we were comfortable and message communication was quick and clear. We loved the tranquille atmosphere of the farm with the beautiful view of animals walking around eating, swimming and playing. Having our dinner at the porch watching sunset was memorable. Farm dogs and cats were calm with our dog and playful. Experiencing collecting the eggs and petting the animals added another charm to the stay!

Bernadette has a fantastic farm with beautiful animals. The dome I booked was filled with everything you could want and more! We were so well taken care of, it was PERFECT! The outdoor patio was beautiful to lounge and read my book on. The bed was beautifully made and so comfortable! It was a little chilly in the middle of the night, but that's camping! I spoke with Bernadette as we were meeting the animals in the morning and she explained all of the upgrades that she is planning and actively working on. I can't wait to come back and stay again! I'm dreaming of winter storms and that beautiful dome!

We had an absolutely WONDERFUL stay here! Bernadette was super communicative both before the booking and while we were staying there. There was an unexpected heatwave and she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable by bringing in extra fans. The space is super clean, very comfortable, easy to find. The location itself is lovely- we spent the evening watching ducks wander by, and we woke up to the sound of a rooster and horses and goats mozeying about. It's also convenient to a great pub, The Crow and the Gate, which I highly recommend. 10 out of 10! Would definitely recommend!

City escape with adorable animals!

I loved staying here! The hosts are so welcoming and clearly are so grateful for their beautiful property. The dome was so comfortable and had everything we needed. There’s a swimming spot 5 minute drive away and if you ask, they’ll gladly show you all the farm animals and you may be able to collect eggs or hold a baby goat. Its very evident they take good care of their livestock. My favourite part was the quietness. Away from the city, amazing stars, pure quietness. It’s perfect!
