Greg was a great host and the camping spot was really quiet while we were there. Very conveniently located for exploring Waterton area. The only downside is that you are in a bit of a valley, so there are no mountain views.

We booked on short notice and we were thankfully able to get in. Greg was super friendly and he has a beautiful property. The bathroom is also surprisingly clean for a porta-potty! We would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay at Greg’s campsite! The place is incredibly peaceful, with plenty of space between sites, which makes it perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. It’s only about a 20-minute drive to Waterton Lakes National Park – an ideal location for exploring the area. Greg is a wonderful host: very welcoming, helpful, and always ready to give great tips. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely come back!

Greg has a great piece of land. It was so quiet and the sky was clear and we could enjoy star gazing. He was very nice and the toilet was exceptionally clean. Would definitely recommend.

The site was beautiful! Beside a nice pond with flowers and ducks. There were no mosquitoes, Greg has some bats working hard to keep the site mosquito-free! I would absolutely stay here again.

The host was welcoming, and the site itself was good, with a beautiful lake nearby. However, we were surprised to find that the site was also booked by two other groups during our stay. We had let the host know we would arrive late, but when we got there around 9 p.m., another group of three arrived around 11 p.m. to stay for the night, and we also learned that a larger group of 20 was booked to arrive the following day. All the other guests were friendly, and we didn't have any issues with them, but the listing for site 6 did not mention that it would be a shared space.

Looking for a camping spot in Waterton N.P. village campground was impossible for us. We found Greg’s place: Mariposa. Only 25 min away from Waterton. Quietness, is the word. Greg's spot was perfect for a last minute camping spot on my way to Waterton and Banff. Very close to Waterton Lakes entrance, clear instructions on how to find the property, and a beautiful setting.

Be cautious if booking this site. I was initially excited to stay here after seeing so many positive reviews, but our experience was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. We booked and paid in full back in May for 5 guests at $25/night. After arriving on July 10th and unpacking, the host greeted us and, during casual conversation, made an inappropriate comment about the amount of Asian people in Waterton stopping at the side of the road to take photos and then said “good thing bears don’t like to eat asians!” My group and I were deeply uncomfortable but carried on with our stay. The following morning, the host approached my partner at 7:30 AM and said Hipcamp undercharged us and his wife wanted $75/night but he would “settle” for $50/night. We explained that our booking was fully paid and confirmed through Hipcamp and that any issues should be discussed with them directly. Later, when we informed him we were leaving early, he again requested more money—this time claiming we should have been paying $85/night. When I reiterated that this was unacceptable and unprofessional, he dismissed my concerns and told us, “never come back here again.” This repeated behavior—offensive remarks and multiple attempts to demand additional money after we had already paid—felt like harassment and scamming, and completely overshadowed our trip. The only positive aspect of our stay was the host’s dog, Cooper, who made an otherwise upsetting experience slightly more bearable.

Camping on Greg’s land was a positive experience. The walls between campsites provided some privacy and it wasn’t crowded or loud (except for the wind the one night, lol.) The outhouse was clean and there was adequate toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most of all, Greg was friendly and helpful. I would recommend camping here for a laid back and relaxed experience, no first come first serve to worry about!!

We had a wonderful time at Mariposa Camping. The place is super quiet, with a beautiful view and a very peaceful atmosphere—perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. Greg, who welcomed us, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The communication was excellent from start to finish. Highly recommended if you're looking for a calm and scenic place to stay!
