A truly private and unique living experience in pure nature! 50 acres of private property; forest, meadows, rolling hills, well maintained trails, a 2 acre pond, yours to discover! Camp in your own tent or book a stay in our Yurta! Outdoor dry toilet and outhouse near walk-in sites. Tent Camping Sites: upon arrival, choose from car camping (close to our house) to several very private walk-in (100m-300m) spots on our 50 acres.
Yurta Stay: the 4 seasons Yurta sits in the middle of our property atop a very private elevated area. Listen to subtle sounds permeate the yurt while enjoying the comfort of an insulated wood stove heated space year round! To increase the full effect of this experience, the Yurta is accessible on foot (300m walk from the car parking). A trolley is provided to transport your personal belongings.
Our Yurta provides a 226 square foot 4 season space. It has an operable dome and 3 large windows. It is insulated with 100% wool felt and is outfitted with a wood stove. It has no vinyl nor any toxic materials.
The Yurta space includes:
- 2 custom raised beds with mattresses. These could fit 2-4 people. An extra cot is available if needed.
- a wood stove
- an outdoor fire pit
- firewood for purchase ($8 / bundle)
- table and some chairs
- an outdoor dry toilet on a platform, toilet paper, water for washing hands
- drinking water, flush toilet, and shower accessible at the main house
- parking is by the main house which is a 300m walk to the Yurta
Please bring with you:
- pillows, beddings, or sleeping bags.
- flashlight(s)
- water bottles
- food + cooler + ice (there is no refrigeration)
- pots, pans, dishes, utensils
- a camp stove if you wish to cook on something other than an open fire (no camp stoves inside the Yurta please)
- appropriate clothing and footwear
- bugspray
Other things to note:
- please plan to arrive before dark and bring a flashlight, there is no electricity at or around the Yurta site
- please do not leave food or garbage outside to attract wild animals
- no smoking, drugs, parties, or events
- no hunting, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling. Please respect nature.
- this is your forest retreat and a chance for digital detox; no wifi, no cell phone reception, pure nature cure!

Weekend Trip to Yurta Glamping/Tent Camping 50Acres
Felt very soothed living in the yurt for three nights and two days. Had a meditation retreat and hiked in nature. You feel cozy with the wood stove at night and rest well away from devices and busyness of the city. Owners warm and helpful.

Where to go
Algonquin Provincial Park
One of the oldest protected public parks in the world, Algonquin Provincial Park is home to more than 2,400 lakes, 750 miles of rivers and streams, 14 interpretive trails, and eight campgrounds. Whether car camping at one of the popular family-friendly RV sites or canoe camping in the backcountry, this is an exceptional destination for fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching.
Bonnechere Caves
This unique geological feature is one of the best sights in the area. The caves were formed by the power of the Bonnechere River over thousands of years and now feature funky rock formations and mesmerizing underground waterfalls. Visits are by guided tour only from spring to autumn. Those visiting in early October might spot bats getting into position for early hibernation.
Bon Echo Provincial Park
Bon Echo Provincial Park offers one of the most unique attractions of any Ontario provincial park, home to Mazinaw Lake and its surrounding rugged cliffs, which feature ancient Indigenous pictographs. Campers can take boat tours to see them up close and then hike to the top of the cliffs for an incredible view of the lake. The park also has excellent swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and biking.
When to go
Most provincial parks and outdoor attractions near Renfrew operate on a seasonal basis, from mid-May to mid-October. Campers should note that evenings can be pretty cold in May and June, and again in September and October. The mosquitoes and blackflies of Algonquin Provincial Park are legendary in their ferocity in late spring and early summer. Renfrew’s annual Renfrew Fair in September brings live music, carnival rides, and livestock showcases to town, while early October is the best time to admire the autumn colors around Algonquin (which gets very busy with weekend daytrippers).
