Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave. Please note that in the winter months. There’s a $25 surcharge. This is required for snow removal to access the sites that are at at least 1 km into the bush. We are in a snow belt area and it is very difficult to keep the sites open in the winter. Four-wheel-drive is required for access in the winter!

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! Welcoming to all!!!!! So much to see and do in the area!

Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Guests are asked to remove excessive garbage and recycling when possible. Thanks for viewing and visiting, cheers and peace, Dave

Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century. In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

This is a very private little slice of heaven that I've been pleased to steward for over 25 years. If you love the sound of frogs singing, and bullfrogs plucking their banjo strings, red-winged blackbirds trilling, you will love it here. The property is literally right across the road from the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park which boasts amazing trails, views and features the Niagara Escarpment. The 4-acre pond/wetland is designated 'Provincially Significant' by the Ministry of Natural Resources and is an important part of the Nottawasaga Watershed. This area is renowned for its terrain - the fields are rolling and the views are quite special. You will enjoy a private firepit and private overlook at the pond with hammock. The site isn't visible from the road. Our house is visible from the site but far enough away as to not disturb one another. We have a newly added outhouse with lighting that will make your stay comfortable.

73km from Collingwood · 4 sites · Tents · Severn Bridge, ON
Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.

Where to go

Georgian Bay

On the northeastern arm of Lake Huron, Georgian Bay spans 15,000 square kilometres, making it the largest freshwater archipelago in the world. Also known as the 30,000 Islands, Georgian Bay features picturesque blue waters ideal for swimming, fishing, sailing, paddling, and even scuba diving. Look to the air for bald eagles, prairie warblers, monarch butterflies, and mouse-eared bats. Book an oTENTik (a raised canvas tent crossed with an A-frame cabin) at Georgian Bay Islands National Park—these permanent structures are great for families with two queen-sized and one double-sized bed each.

Highlands Nordic

Dubbed Ontario’s premier cross country ski centre, Highlands Nordic is a full winter destination for snowshoeing and skate skiing, too. Campers can warm up by the fireplace in the chalet after a day out on the groomed trails, but thanks to its setting on the Niagara Escarpment, Highlands Nordic isn’t just for snow seekers. The rest of the year, mountain bikers find thrills across challenging terrain (rent bikes on-site or bring your own), as well as 25 kilometres of hiking trails for all ability levels across 800 acres of meadows, hills, and forest. For a more leisurely activity, try disc golf. Nearby cozy cabins and modern lakeside cottages provide creature comforts, while RV parks and tent camping sites sit near Lake Huron.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park

The busiest provincial park in Ontario, Wasaga Beach welcomes over 1.5 million visitors every year and features 50 kilometres of hiking trails that pass through forest, sand dunes, and wetlands. Guided birdwatching tours, nature walks, and children’s programs give depth to the area’s natural story, too. Summer is especially popular for sunbathers, swimmers, and beach volleyball players, where the beach often reaches capacity by mid-morning on weekends. Visitors must buy a daily vehicle permit or Ontario parks seasonal pass, but once you’re here, stay at one of the park’s 300 campsites in wooded areas with easy beach and park access ranging from primitive tent campsites to trailers, RV parks, yurts, and cabins.

When to go

Warm and sunny summer months are especially popular for basking in the sunshine on the shores of Lake Huron. This also brings the crowds, especially to Wasaga Beach on the weekends. Hipcampers are encouraged to plan accordingly or look for more remote campsites. Typically, camping season runs from late May to early October. For a cooler, quieter trip, plan for an early fall visit instead.
