We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. New this spring, campers will be able to enjoy the firewood sauna, located close to the bunkie and nestled in a private spot near the creek.

Being avid hikers ourselves, we realize that there are not a lot of accommodations just off the Bruce Trail. So our main goal is to assist hikers as they explore the Bruce Trail. Whether you are doing the ‘end-to-end ‘ in one go (Bravo!), or doing a more relaxed multi day hike, our little bunkie will be a welcome place to lay your head at the end of the day. Our forest bunkie is nestled in the woods, a few minutes walk off the trail, and conveniently located approximately at the half way point of the Caledon Hills section. You truly feel like you are one with nature here. At night you may hear the coyotes howling in the distance or hear the local raccoons out on their nightly stroll.
You have complete privacy at the bunkie. However, if you need assistance our home isn’t too far away. Please note that it is an off-grid bunkie…which means no electricity! We do have lamps available in the bunkie, however bringing your own headlamp or flashlight is recommended. There is a cute, private outhouse w/ washbasin. We have an outdoor shower a little ways away from the bunkie site, with hot water. There is a double bed in the loft. The pull out couch on the main level also can be converted to a double bed. There is no running water at bunkie, however we will have some potable water provided. You will be met upon arrival.
PLEASE NOTE:
*There is a strict NO fire rule anywhere on the property.
*There is a hill (w/some forest stairs) that you will have to navigate to get to bunkie site.
Mono Mills is 6 minutes away w/ Starbucks, Tim Hortons, gas stations, pizza. Hockley Village is 7 minutes away, with the must visit Hockley Valley General Store. Orangeville is 15 mins away for all food and supplies you may need.
We can assist w/ Bruce Trail (Caledon Hills Section) pick ups/ drop offs if we are available.

Being avid hikers ourselves, we realize that there are not a lot of accommodations just off the Bruce Trail. So our main goal is to assist hikers as they explore the Bruce Trail. Whether you are doing the ‘end-to-end ‘ in one go (Bravo!), or doing a more relaxed multi day hike, our little bunkie will be a welcome place to lay your head at the end of the day. Our forest bunkie is nestled in the woods, a few minutes walk off the trail, and conveniently located approximately at the half way point of the Caledon Hills section. You truly feel like you are one with nature here. At night you may hear the coyotes howling in the distance or hear the local raccoons out on their nightly stroll.
You have complete privacy at the bunkie. However, if you need assistance our home isn’t too far away. Please note that it is an off-grid bunkie…which means no electricity! We do have lamps available in the bunkie, however bringing your own headlamp or flashlight is recommended. There is a cute, private outhouse w/ washbasin. We have an outdoor shower a little ways away from the bunkie site, with hot water. There is a double bed in the loft. The pull out couch on the main level also can be converted to a double bed. There is no running water at bunkie, however we will have some potable water provided. You will be met upon arrival.
PLEASE NOTE:
*There is a strict NO fire rule anywhere on the property.
*There is a hill (w/some forest stairs) that you will have to navigate to get to bunkie site.
Mono Mills is 6 minutes away w/ Starbucks, Tim Hortons, gas stations, pizza. Hockley Village is 7 minutes away, with the must visit Hockley Valley General Store. Orangeville is 15 mins away for all food and supplies you may need.
We can assist w/ Bruce Trail (Caledon Hills Section) pick ups/ drop offs if we are available.

My friend and I had a lovely stay the end of February. The Strawbale cabin was absolutely gorgeous. It was nice and cozy with the wood stove and we were supplied enough wood to keep us toasty during our stay. The outhouse was very cute and did not have an odour. We met one host on our arrival and she was very friendly. Hosts were responsive and helpful. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone. Stayed with dogs and horses. Eggs, honey and note were a lovely personal touch.

Excellent stay for a romantic getaway. If you think a wood burning sauna big enough for 4, a shower big enough for a table and bench, and a hot tub just outside your door makes for a perfect getaway, this is your place. The fridge was big enough for a three night stay, unlimited firewood, and all the oils, lotions and scents one could ask for. Truly a great place to be with the one you love, and your dogo. Could there have been a table inside for us nerds to puzzle on? Sure. But the floor works too. Would go back.

Weekend Trip to Forest Cabin
The forest cabin was everything I’d hope for and more. I wanted a place to get away and reconnect with nature and that’s exactly what I got out of my stay. I went for hikes through the property, got to play with the sheep and the dogs! And like others have said in their reviews, by far the best outhouse I’ve ever soon! I would 100% recommend staying here! I’ll be back to check it out in the spring or summer!

Everdale is a special place! The straw cabin is simple, comfortable and so quiet! I felt safe as a person going there solo and walked their well loved and cared for land extensively. It was an education as well in that they have a regenerative farm. Being a long time gardener myself, it was interesting to read the sign posts on my walk explaining different aspects of regenerative farming and the lands ecology. I'll definitely come back and in the colder months, be sure you're comfortable keeping the woodstove going, you may need to split wood, etc. Also, being solar powered, if it's a cloudy day, the lights may go off early. I was glad I brought a battery operated lamp. Great place, great feeling there.!

Very nice little cabin, is part of a larger property, but still plenty of privacy. Mornings are very cold around late September, recommend to bring a blanket if you’re here around this time of year. I had cell reception and was ~15 minute drive to a mall near by. The fire pit was wonderful. Would recommend.

Fantastic little well-equipped bunkie with excellent privacy on a quiet and spacious lot! Chris and Denise were wonderful and very easygoing hosts who ensured our group had what we needed and gave us a quick tour of the site before giving us free range for the duration of our stay. The shop has an impressive array of trailers onsite to gander at while there, and the shop building bathroom was a nice luxury to have for group camping. Loved our time there, a very unique spot to spend some time.

Angie, Bob, Connell, and Chase are wonderful hosts, and the cabin by the creek is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The musical flow of the creek, the vintage barn, the fields, the apple trees, the tiny kitchen, the midnight moon, and the path by the creek are all enchanting elements of this countryside getaway. A dreamy little nook, and so close to the city ! The property is just beautiful and the cabin and little kitchenette had everything we needed and more. My friends and I were looking for a relaxing place to reconnect with nature and spend a girly weekend together. We had high expectations for this place and somehow there were exceeded! The property is beautiful, the bunkie is very cozy, you have all the utensils for a simple meal with the bbq, the sauna+hot tub were divine, and Angie and Bob are amazing hosts! We had fresh eggs in the morning and got to stargaze during the night :)
