Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

We are located on the edge of the wilderness just 30 minutes north of Victoria. Our camping area is very quiet and private. We are next to a spring fed lake that contains trout and small mouth bass and it is great for swimming during the summer months. There are no motor boats permitted on the lake, however it is perfect for paddle boards, floaties and kayaks. There are several walking trails throughout our 10 acre property and the Trans Canada Trail is just minutes away. We have a large lawn for playing frisbee or bocce ball and a corn hole pitch (also known as beanbag toss). There is a fire pit, pinic table, 2 patios with tables, chairs and umbrellas and a pit toilet. A sink and potable water are also available. We are situated in forested land on the edge of the wilderness. There is deer, bear, cougar, beaver, martins and an abundance of birds in the area. This is a great location for those hiking or biking the Trans-Canada Trail. Adults and small dogs only. Currently our sites are only available on weekdays and is unavailable from November to the end of April.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Whalebone Guest House with another couple and our dog. The tiny house was spotless, cozy, and well equipped — with a comfortable bed, handy kitchen, and thoughtful touches throughout. Even with four of us, it felt welcoming and never cramped. The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by gardens and just a short walk to Whalebone Beach. We enjoyed quiet mornings by the ocean, easy island exploring during the day, and relaxing evenings back at the house. Our dog was happy and comfortable too, which made the trip even better. Our host was warm and accommodating, making sure we felt right at home while giving us plenty of space to relax. This was the perfect getaway spot, and we would happily return again.

This property felt very private for us! There’s a 2 minute walk down the trail to the tent area, pretty easy to get your stuff there if you’re used to trail walking. Lots of fresh fruit and granola bars provided for us! The toilet is very simple but clean and fine for a couple nights. We brought all the necessary camping equipment minus a tent and sleeping bags. You will need outdoor chairs, a stove, cooler and other camping essentials. This was pretty obvious given the description and reviews so don’t be shocked when it’s just a bed and table! Overall we really liked the area and the tent and bedding were clean and very comfortable, had a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Paige’s tiny homes. Whalebone beach is great for swimming and walking and provides shady afternoon spots to nap. It is just a short walk down the quiet road. We were even lucky enough to see whales breaching and playing 3/4 days. We will absolutely be staying here again.

Mielle was a wonderful host. The land was peaceful and lush. The bell tent was clean and spacious. A few things for future visitors: The forest is quite humid so the tent has a slight musk smell. We had one exceptionally hot day during our stay and that dried out the tent enough to clear the air but otherwise it is a bit damp. Not unpleasant enough to bother us but slightly noticeable. Also it is definitely an off-grid tent which is wonderful for those who want to unplug. The host is also very generous and gave us access to a trailer they have on the property that had a flush toilet, electricity and running water. Some things to note: the tent site is a short distance from the parking so you’ll have to pack in and pack out. There is a ravine in the middle so if you are bringing in a lot of supplies for camping, this will take some time. This site is better suited as an eco-bed and breakfast than a camping site as there is no picnic table, which makes cooking and food preparation challenging. Still, as campers we made it work. Also worth noting, the composting toilet is actually a bucket but as mentioned, our host gave us access to a trailer with a flush toilet. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend this site to others.

This truly is a hidden gem - we rented both the bus and the tiny home for a family trip. Both are very nicely put together. We made lots of use of the outdoor space for our meals and hanging out to read and relax. We really enjoyed having a beach and walking trails so nearby - it was such an easy thing to spend a couple hours on one beach, come home for lunch, then go explore another spot. The kids definitely want to go back and I couldn't agree more!

We booked both the bus and the tiny house on this listing for our family. The property is located close to one of the nicest beaches - it was our favourite of several we visited on our trip. It's so nice to pack a couple bags and walk five minutes away to sandy beach (best at low tide) with lots of great tide pools to explore. The island is quiet and peaceful and you'll have lots of privacy wherever you go. The spaces themselves are snug and comfortable and the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet. You can see the thought the hosts have put into the space and they were easy to communicate with. Our kids loved biking on the mostly empty street and finding crabs on the beach, and we loved reading in the outdoor spaces. The kitties that came to visit outdoors were a bonus as we missed our pets back home. We fell in love and definitely want to go back!

We had a very nice 2 nights glamping in the bus. Fairly private set-up on her property with the communal bathroom a short walk away and access to a kitchen sink for washing up. Was delightfully close to a rocky beach where we didn’t see another soul as well as another beach/walking trail. Only con was that the bus was quite hot during our summer stay (no screens on the windows had us balancing cooling it down against mosquitos) but there were fans which helped. Cats were definitely a lovely bonus! Thank you for the cute stay!

What a dream come true! I was looking for a nature getaway that was in the elements & also alluring // smooth on logistics (without the noise of public campgrounds, *ideally*). Mielle’s lotus tent in the cedar forest was *MUCH* more than we bargained for! I adore cooking while camping (food always tastes best outside), so we brought a camp stove & filled the cooler with delicious local eats, yet didn’t have to worry about setting up a tent —> instead had a glorious, clean, spacious yurt to kick our feet up on a comfortable bed after exploring so many gems & adventures Salt Spring Island has to offer! Mielle was a -very kind & gracious- host.. there was fresh fruits & snacks upon arrival, clean drinking water, as well as an incredible surprise greeting from her 3yr old Bernese Mountain dog who brightened our stay beyond measure :D Can’t recommend this place enough; hope to be back some day!

Welcome to our secluded little farm paradise. We are located on the west side of the W̱SÁNEĆ Peninsula on the main drive, West Saanich Road. The Camping Meadow} The meadow is a 1/2 acre fully-fenced, flat forest dell. There is a water spigot and an electrical outlet. It can host up to 3 tents. It is tent camping only - no vehicles allowed in the meadow. West Saanich Road can be a bit loud at night in the summer. If you have sensitive hearing, we encourage earplugs and/or camping at the farthest west end of the meadow. {2. Car Camping} The Cedar Grove is a private camp site with room for a regular vehicle (not an RV) and a tent. It is our only spot where you may camp next to your vehicle. {3. The Barn Loft Guest Suite} The Barn Loft Guest Suite is a beautiful restored hay loft with a double bed, a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette, and a living room and dining area. It is equipped with a composting toilet. Those staying at the Loft can also use the shared farm washroom. {Shared Washroom} The washroom is the shared washroom inside the farmhouse on the ground/basement floor, with a flush toilet and luxury shower. It is a short walk from the camping meadow, inside the heritage farmhouse. Please note that while inside the farmhouse basement, only the washroom is available for public use. Entering other areas of the basement is prohibited, as these are private living spaces. {Farm Fun} We have five horses, a tiny pony, chickens, a few goats and a flock of sheep. You are welcome to respectfully meet the animals with us - it is not permitted to meet the animals without a guide. DM us if you want to say hi to the animals and we will arrange a time. We are situated on a 1.5 acre plot, set amidst rural surroundings. It is a very quiet and peaceful community set on the shores of the lake and surrounded by magnificent trees and greenery. There is limited bus service about a 20 minute walk away so a car is recommended. We are about a 25 minute drive away from Sidney, where most people will arrive by plane or ferry from the mainland, and also about 25 minutes away from downtown Victoria. The driveway from the street up to the front of our house is a paved sloped driveway and from there the access to the camping site is a sloped and curving dirt road. You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to get up it. We just want to be sure you are aware. The area itself is a level piece of ground to the side of our house. It is approximately 30 ' X 30 ', big enough for a small camper van and a tent. Please note it’s not a camping space like you would find in a provincial park. There’s no picnic bench or fire pit. In any case open flames are not allowed. Portable propane powered camping stoves are fine. We can supply a couple of plastic chairs and a small cocktail sized table. The facilities are comprised of a toilet in a small room in our basement and a utility sink just outside, accessed through the sunroom and down the back stairs. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash or otherwise kept under control and not allowed to run loose. We have three cats ourselves, and they have access to the sunroom. We are just letting you know in case you are allergic. Also, we might occasionally sit in the sunroom ourselves and we don't mind you passing through on your way to and from the facilities, if you don't mind us being in there on occasion. There is no bath or shower available. You are advised to bring your own face and/or hand towels if needed. You also need to be prepared to take away your own recycling, garbage and organics.

We strive to provide a place to enjoy the peace & quiet of nature, so it's not a place to party or have music loud enough for any neighbours to hear. Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest and bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise. Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer and fall & has world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids, ideal for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just minutes away. There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the covered picnic shelter. There is now a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for some protection because of the drop-off & undercut banks (not shown in the pictures). We have an endless network of trails and logging roads, perfect for ATVs (ride directly out of our gate), hiking, and biking. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline or tranquility, this property offers both. ATV's are idle in - idle out only. QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them. LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights. CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times! FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 8 AM and 8 PM. BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef for sale and we occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens. Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them. If you prefer, we have 6 bare-bones fishermen's cabins. Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach. We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included. Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire. The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out! There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km. We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes. Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.
