Nestled into a Valley alongside a winding riverbed, our campsite offers guests a peaceful stay in nature. With a secret beach only a short walk away, guests will be able to have fun floating on the river on hot days or simply enjoy the breathtaking views through the stunning forest leading up to the shore. Our highland cows can also be seen grazing in the pastures nearby! There are ample walking trails with scenic views all over the property- we invite you to explore.
Our 160-acre regenerative agriculture family farm came to be in May of 2021. After previously homesteading on a humble 1-acre property our family had dreams of owning more land where we could establish a farm to call home for many years to come and farm in ways that would be sustainable for generations to follow.
Upon first look, the heart and soul that the original owners poured into this property shone like the sun glaring on the water of the river. We knew this was the perfect place to call home for our growing family, and a place so beautiful we could not wait to share it with others.

Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. My parents have spent every spare weekend out there making this paradise into what it is today. All the buildings were created by my family through labour and love. The property is very close to the Westcountry to access quadding, fishing, hiking, swimming and much more.
We are about 10 minutes north of Rocky Mtn House, Alberta Canada.
Pets must be tethered and cleaned up after at all times.

We have 156 acres of incredible farm land for you to enjoy.
The parking pad is right across from the house, to the left of the driveway. Back in or drive in, there's lots of room to do either. You are welcome to enjoy a campfire, we have lots of wood available. Let us know if you need the picnic table, sometimes we have it up by the house.
Once you are settled in, take your time to walk around. You can birdwatch from your campsite, the feeders by the house are a busy bird haven.
Walk to the gate and check out the pond and the grazing horses. Ask how to be safe as you walk in the pasture. Pet them if they agree to it, or walk down the trail into the forest. There are many trails to follow down there. You are welcome to use the firepit and picnic area in the bottom. Listen for the birds, we have many different sparrows, warblers and other birds that don't stop singing. If you are lucky, you might see some deer or great horned owls.
The yard is open to the big sky. Watch storms come and go, see the stars and some nights you might see the northern lights. Bring your bug spray, the mosquitoes can be aggressive. Listen to the frogs, the coyotes and other country sounds.
We have fresh eggs every day from our chickens and fresh veggies in season from our garden.

Peaceful escape to the country where you can pick fruit, watch bats, have a drink and lunch at the cafe, peruse the store, grab ice cream, participate in their brisket dinner, pizza night, or pancake breakfast. Or just walk around the property admiring the flowers, watching ground squirrels, woodpeckers, bluebirds, and golden finches. Staff of the orchard are friendly and owner Dave is knowledgeable and happy to share his wisdom. They book land on a few different apps so you may have neighbours but it’s still secluded.

I’m a bit hesitant to give a great review, afraid that more people will discover this hidden gem. I really want this to be our little secret. We’re big campers, and this was definitely one of the best camping trips we’ve ever had. Watching the sunset over the haskap orchard was breathtaking, and then the bluebirds put on an incredible song and dance show.
Our little 2-year-old absolutely loved it too!

Had an awesome time hanging out on Mary Jean’s land. Just what we needed as a little get away before school started. Quiet little spot with a picnic table and fire pit. The stars were incredible✨The best part was hanging out with the horses and doing horse connect. My daughter loves horses and she had the opportunity to chill with them in their natural habitats. Horse connect was a fun on ground session with a horse learning how to listen and communicate with it and with the others around you
The fresh eggs my daughter helped gather were a nice addition to our breakfast
Highly recommend Hawk’s view to anyone and we’ll totally visit again soon

This campsite was everything that we expected and more. The location within the orchard is beautiful and private and the owners are very knowledgeable and welcoming. We enjoyed all that the property had to offer and it did not disappoint. DNA gardens has plenty to keep busy while also maintaining a relaxed atmosphere- we relaxed under the trees and tried their charcuterie board and sampled the various wines that they make on site while our kids played in the play area, we enjoyed exploring their bat walk and nature trail, and went to their brisket dinner in their beautiful green house. My kids are still raving about how delish the dinner was! If we were local we would absolutely be visiting again, for now we will just have to savour the treats we purchased at the little farm store.

What a beautiful setting! Mary & her husband are spectacular and very accommodating! I came into town for a hockey tournament for 4 days and camped out instead of a hotel, and I have no regrets! If you love the outdoors, chickens, horses etc.. this is the place for you! We had a great time, and we will be returning this summer! I highly recommend this site !

We enjoyed our stay at DNA gardens, the orchard is beautifully and the people are kind and helpful.
We really enjoyed their Bootlegged Brisket dinner and bought several goodies from their store.
The only thing to keep in mind is there is a gas plant across the road from where we camped and a gas generator that runs 24/7. I was a bit concerned that we’d have to deal with the background noise for two days, however as Dave mentioned, you only really hear it if the wind is blowing in your general direction.
We’ll definitely recommend DNA gardens to our friends.

Our family did a little 5 day Alberta RV tour and stayed here for our final night. This was our first trying a HipCamp Farm style spot; and, we were so happy we stayed here!
We booked the horseback riding add on as well for my wife and 3 year old daughter; and, this was OUTSTANDING! Mary Jean was Phenomenal with both my wife (who had some riding experience) and for our daughter (this was here FIRST time on a horse ever).
Jack greeted us upon arrival and gave us a lay of the land. They have horses and chickens (which we also got farm fresh eggs from). We were welcome to wander the land and horse pastures. There is also a nice walking trail.
The hospitality and stay were so unique, warm and welcoming. Nothing that could have ever been duplicated by a RV Resort type experience.
We would 100% be back and, again, encourage our fellow HipCampers to stay here!
