Located in the town of Beltana, the campsites are adjacent to the local hall. There are showers, toilets, a free BBQ in the community park , mobile phone coverage and potable water available We are the closest campground to the new Nilpena Ediacara National Park. Please do not go down the 4WD only road to Beltana, proceed to the bitumen Road and follow the signs.
Beltana is a State Heritage listed town in Adnyamathanha country. Beltana
is important as it is the home of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, was influential in the establishment of the Overland Telegraph and was important is the states early settlement. Beltana has survived in spite of the challenges
and has an excellent walking trail detailing this history for visitors.
There is capacity to have a fire in a communal fire pit, but please bring your own wood. Dogs on leashes welcome.
This campsite offers a safe and comfortable place for campers who are travelling through on their holiday and need somewhere to stop overnight, but two nights is recommended to give you a chance to visit this historic town.
The town is significant is South Australian history and there is interpretative signage that provides the visitor with an informative trail.
Whilst with us visit the new Nilpena Ediacara National Park. We have the closest camping facilities.

Great little historic village, campsite had good amenities, clean and tidy. Lovely little hotel nearby that has just reopened for an afternoon ale on the veranda. The progress association has done an amazing job in restoring the town and displaying the history. Great base to explore the area.

A lovely spot for an overnight stay, facilities were good. The water trough in the picnic area and the bird bath next to the hall were very nice touches - I’d have happily spent longer seeing what birds came in for a drink and a splash. Would stay again on our way through.

The area is being reconstructed as close as possible to the original site and buildings of the time. Where modern facilities are required, these are integrated into the site with care & responsibility. The amenities for the 8 unpowered sites are very good with hot showers & a Telstra tower providing connectivity to the modern world. Bring a fly net & a water bottle for strolling around the site as buildings can be short distances apart in keeping with such a town. The hotel itself is beautiful and being carefully restored with some modern but tasteful features. The history of the town has been documented on site boards for easy reading or taking a photo for review later. We thoroughly enjoyed the town and will certainly be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Beltana. The sites were well laid out; we had site 6 which was a great drive through size with a great view. Toilets and showers were very close and very clean. We highly recommend a visit to this historic town and a stay at the camp site.

Amazing spot for camping and the clean bathrooms were a blessing. Sealed road all the way there! I would like to go back and visit Beltana again. Interesting history and beautiful ruins.

The village a fabulous moment in history. Well worth a visit. Facilities at campsite are great and clean. but if you only have a tent it is mostly on gravel so may not be right for you. There is a pub.. not open all the time but run by friendly volunteers.

Top of the range community campground. Fantastic en-suite style amenities, good sized firepit (byo firewood). Lovely views, birdlife down at the creek and mostly just the peace & quiet. Oh and the night sky... stunning.
Great atmosphere at the pub, wet had lunch one day and dinner the next.
Also very convenient for the Nilpena Ediacara fossil tour which is incredible.

We loved our campsite and booked a second night. We felt quite spoiled with the warm showers and flushing toilets as we were expecting to camp rough. The amenities are excellent and it is really good to know the money spent on the campsite goes to help the restoration and renovation of historic town buildings. We recommend a visit to the hotel and sampling the local ale! We definitely intend to stay again.

Beltana is a great spot for a couple of nights which will give you time to explore the historic town, check out the Royal Vic Hotel (when open) and sample a local ale. Jan also makes a nice G&T, while Chris’s sausage rolls are Yummo.
Camp sites are great, as are the amenities.

Beltana is a great spot for a couple of nights camping. Facilities are excellent and super clean. Plenty of history to learn about and if you are lucky to be there when the Royal Victoria Hotel is open Jan and Chris (and Flossy 🐶) will look after you with a drink, a snack, and a good chat. Chris’s sausage rolls are pretty tasty too.

A very pleasant, simple campsite with clean facilities... and in walking distance to the friendly, recently-restored Beltana Pub. It was also a delight to be able to walk around and see all the restoration work done in this historic town. Also a short drive from the recently opened Nilpina National Park, now running excellent Ediacara fossil tours.
