Beautiful sandstone wonders mountain backdrop on the banks of the Dawson River. Got a boat test your skills and fish for Saratoga or boat upstream 12km through the beautiful Nathan Gorge. We have 8km of weir river frontage with a very tropical feel lined with the beautiful cabbage palms. You will feel like you're in a tropical paradise. Climb the mountains, water ski, fish, ride a horse 🐎 relax around a camp fire beside the river or very large natural lagoon. Prefer the views? Pick a site where you can wake up and see for miles and watch the sunrise and sunsets. Just 50km from Theodore and 30km to Cracow down 11km council maintained gravel road to boundary. Directions : turn off Theodore Cracow road into Isla Delusion Road. Drive 2.5km across Dawson River then take the left fork into Birchleys Rd. Follow Birchleys Rd all the way to the end 9km and call in at the blue house.Can also come off Leichhardt Hwy down Isla Delusion Road & turn right into Birchleys Road. If we are not there and we know your arrival time then please be patient we are not far away. There is only telstra mobile service so ensure you have the directions prior to arrival. Please be aware that wet weather will prevent 2WD vehicles from entering therefore check the weather forecast on BOM for Isla. Look forward to welcoming you.

Cabbage Palm Pocket is beautifully located right on the bank of an anabranch of the main Dawson River overlooking the water. Nestled in amongst the dawson gum, wattle and very old cabbage palms 15 metres tall gives a very tropical oasis feeling. Easy access off the main property road down a farm track about 1 kilometer. Access to the water for basic water craft such as canoes or small tinnys is quite achievable. This site is very private and the anabranch quite okay to swim. For those afternoon walks there is a cattle pad that weaves it way through the cabbage palms along the river bank where you can see a variety of birdlife and fauna and access the main river channel. Firewood is available to scavenge and rainwater tanks are available at the house to refill drinking water. The site is drive through so no turning around to leave.

Currawong weir is inaccessible to the public. Take this opportunity to camp at this prime location which is at the southern part of our property. Coolibah trees on flat area right 150m from the weir wall. Small watercraft that can be carried to water only as no suitable boat ramp available. Suitable for 4WD vehicles only and RV with good clearance. Site is reached via 4km of farm tracks through some gullies and not suitable for larger RVs. Absolute privacy cannot be guaranteed as my neighbour has an access road nearby.

We really enjoyed staying at Currawong, its very peaceful and private,the scenery is beautiful. Andrew was very helpful and accommodating and we look forward to going back.

One of the best camp sites we have been to for privacy and setting. Plenty of firewood lying around, plenty of places to go for wander ,worth the drive getting in there, no one nearby , the place is yours to enjoy, ps if coming from theodore head towards Cracow.

We had 4 nights in our caravan at the newly opened Cabbage Palm Pocket camp. Excellent camping spot. Suited to those looking for a secluded, quiet and picturesk camp. Caught a few fish and had lovely walks through the palms and surrounding property. Andrew was very accomadating and easy to talk with, he explained the history of the property and showed us some special rock features. Highly recommend a stay, we will return.

Beautiful spot along the river. Very quiet and peaceful.. just what we were looking for. Scenic views and a welcoming host. Great spot to kayak and fish. Look forward to camping there again.
