We are located in the Townsville region, 25 kms from the city centre and only 10 kms to Coles and BWS but close to the coast. The campsite is set on a private 150 acres with 3 swimming dams, portable toilet on site and motorcycle tracks including enduro. Camping and campfires are allowed near the dams in fire pits. Fish for jade perch (catch and release please). In Townsville itself you will find the headland at the north end featuring the military exhibits of Jezzine Barracks and a wide promenade which is great for walks as it heads south past the safe swimming zones. On the other end, at Ross Creek, you can catch the ferry to the Great Barrier Reef or take a 20-minute ferry ride to Magnetic Island, with its beautiful bays, bushland hikes, and wild koalas. Country Vows wedding reception centre is located on 5 acres at the front of the property.We are located in the Townsville region, close to the coast. The kids had a great time camping around the dam . Toasting marshmallows, fishing & best part riding their dirt bikes around the tracks . Good time had !! Only negative was the porta toilets, disgusting. Lucky there was a shovel on hand . My advice to owners / carers of property maybe more regular checks & changes of porta toilets .

Cant get much better than this. 10/10 for the thrill seekers. Adults smashed buggys around and the kids couldn't get off the dirtbikes. Beautiful property and Noel and his wife welcomed us with open arms. Will be back for sure!

The riding was okay, the pictures showed a motocross track, but it was very overgrown. The rest was not bad. The camping okay, but the portable toilets were terrible, had no roof and no toilet paper and not clean, nowhere was it mentioned that we had to bring toilet paper.

Nice quiet spot. We noticed when we arrived that once there was already someone in the main spot, there wasn’t really anywhere as nice to park up. We went down to the second dam, and set up in the only spot with somewhat less grass. The whole area was quite overgrown. This is definitely an ideal spot for people with motorbikes who are there to ride and aren’t too fussed on the view.

Plenty of space great dam for the kids to drop a line in … Noel supplied firewood for us so we had a great fire … the only downfall was it rained nothing Noel can do about that !

We loved everything about it. It was really nice set up next to the dam with the fire going enjoying a few drinks with friends and family. We had the whole place to ourselves which was nice after being cramped up in caravan parks. We had a bit of rain over night but the track in was easy to navigate even towing a 7mt van. Noel's a really nice bloke and we thank him for sharing his place with us.

If you are looking for a proper bush camp then this is the one for you. We had the whole place to ourselves and it was beautiful. The kids rode bikes from morning till afternoon and had a great time. The port-a-loos are a luxury if you are used to bush camping - they were fantastic. There was a small creek to cross but it had a concrete bottom and we got through with our 4x4 and trailer with no problem. Noel was very welcoming and quick to help when we found an issue with the toilet. We will definitely be back!

Not suitable with past heavy rains to get our Expedition truck into the site we’d booked . Noel offered us a grassy site which did the job ,but not what we’d expected.

Stayed for 2 nights. Easy to find following directions from host, and a very well set out camp site. It definitely wasn’t glamping, but that’s what we wanted and it felt like we were nowhere near a major city. A real good experience. We took motorbikes and found the tracks good for all styles, and ages and experience levels. The peace and quiet was also a great drawcard for us. There are a couple Of port-a-loos On site (recommend taking a few rolls of your own toilet paper) and our campsite had a fire pit, plenty of fire wood laying around to use. Owner popped by for a quick chat and checked we were all good, very friendly and showed our son a few extra little tracks to ride on. We spent most of the two days riding and had an absolute blast on the trails.

Awesome area to camp with the family. Plenty of room and tracks for the kids to ride their motorbikes. The campsites are far enough away from each other that it feels like you are the only ones here. Noel was great and ensured we had everything er needed.

We really enjoyed our time at Black River Dam - it was a perfect overnighter and we had a nice quiet spot on the dam (unpowered). There were powered spots available closer to the road/ house. We had a fish in the dam but no luck! Noel the owner came over to say hello and check if we needed any firewood. He also offered for us to stay an extra night as we had booked two nights but arrived a day late. We didn’t take up the offer but thought it very generous. Highly recommend!

Got a need for speed? This spot's got it all! A track for the kiddos to ride their motorbikes and a dam for a cool down swim or a kayak. Keep an eye out for the furry friends that visit at night - Wallabies - and the bird friends are plentiful during the day. And don't worry, the directions are as clear as day, so you'll be having fun in no time!

Loved it. 5 adults and 5 kids. Some rode dirtbikes for the day some swam and SUP and some just enjoyed being outdoors relaxing. Fire was ready to go with wood available. Toilet was clean with fussy kids happy to use it 10 out of 10

Last minute booking on our lap of Aus. Great spot! Easy access and Private. We even threw a line in the dam (no luck unfortunately) all within a short drive to the city!

1st timers to hipcamp and 1st timers to black river dam. We had such a great time. Far too sunburnt, but everyone had a ball! Close enough to town, but still getting the best bush style camping experience and the ONLY place we could find that would let us ride our motorbikes on site. My Mum had a great 65th birthday weekend, thank you! We will definitely be back!

Amazing host! Everything was perfect, peaceful, relaxing and private, clean flushable toilets and hot showers, the owners are truly awesome, very helpful, and friendly. We stayed with a very active 2yr old who had plenty of safe room to run and play outside, Christmas morning the rual fire trucks drove into camp area to give the little ones lollies 🍭 Would 100% stay again! Highly Recommend
