2 nights at Sandalwood Downs Farm Stay Toodyay

We loved our stay in our campervan at Sandalwood Downs, a beautiful farm with the most friendly and varied bunch of animals you can imagine. It is true, the camels do love a selfie! Our site was, like all the sites, obviously chosen to provide privacy, and peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed the walks around the farm, and nearby Toodyay is a wonderful Australian country town.

My son and I stayed in our tent at site 2 which is the closest site to the toilets, shower, playground and fire pit, perfect location. Jane and Marc were interesting to talk to and I found them really very friendly and welcoming. The playground closes for use at 6pm which makes sense for it was getting dark at that time. Some other kids were on the playground after that time and Jane had to come down and told them to get off. I don't understand why some parents can't tell their own kids to get off the playground at the correct time. It was hard for my 7 year old when I told him he had to be off the playground at 6pm and the other kids were still playing on it for another 20 minutes. We loved meeting all the animals in the animal feeding in the morning that Jane and Marc guided us on. The animals are very friendly and it was a wonderful experience. It was at 9.30am and cost $15 per person extra. Well worth every cent. The views of Sandalwood Downs Farm are stunning and I'm looking forward to staying there again sometime. Thanks Jane and Marc for letting us stay at your property and for being so nice.

Enjoyed our stay here, camp sites were private and well set apart, great views and enjoyed the sound of nature from up the hill. The kids enjoyed the animals and was worth travelling for… Personally I prefer a campfire at my site during winter months to cook on (with self supplied briquettes/wood), especially as some of the sites are far away from the communal area. However, I also understand the risks that it carries to owners. Thank you for a great stay.

What an amazing place to camp! We stayed at goat mountain and were greeted by the cutest neighbours. The camp ground practically speaking was well set out, providing ample room to suit almost any set up you want on mostly flat ground. The tour was unbelievable, the ability to get up close and personal with all the different animals on the farm and hear the passion and information from Marc and Jane about the animals and the location was a treat. Before we even left we told our friends that we are adding this place high on the return later this year trips!! Loved every things about this place too many cute animals to decide which one was our favourite.

Our stay at Bolinda Vale Farm “Kelpie Gully” was everything we hoped for — peaceful, serene, and truly relaxing. The wide open spaces, the quiet atmosphere, and the beautiful views made it so easy to unwind and enjoy the moment. Deb, the owner, was incredibly helpful and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One unexpected bonus was the great phone signal, which made it easy to stay connected when we needed to. It’s not always something you get when camping, so it was a big plus for us. We’re definitely coming back — it’s the perfect spot to recharge and soak in some real country peace.

Weekend Trip to Gumtree Gully Cottage

We had such a lovely 2-night stay! The cottage was clean and inviting. We arrived to a lovely welcome sign and some goodies like chips, m&m’s, oats cups for breakfast, jerky and biltong. There was fire wood chopped for the fireplace, and bubble bath and bath salts by the bath. These were such unexpected but lovely touches that made us so grateful to have booked this weekend away! The property is wonderful for dogs to have a very enjoyable run around and sniff.

A refreshing cold bush shower is available on site. The farm also features a fantastic communal area for fellow traveller's to meet, chat, have a few drinks, sit by the amazing fire pit (during winter months), have a BBQ. The farm features many beautiful hand raised farm animals such as, camels, cows, miniature goats, donkeys, alpacas, lambs, deer, a pig, emus, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowls, geese, rabbits, chooks and peacocks. Spend some time strolling the stunning walk trails and taking in the amazing views on the property, The sunsets are vivid and beautiful. The stars shine and sparkle bright. While staying at Sandalwood Downs we would like all visitors to understand and accept the guidelines and rules, which are in place for everybody’s happiness, comfort and safety. YOUR FAMILIES SAFELY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US: - No bikes sorry. As we are a farm we do not have bike trails or paths. The paddocks are uneven terrain with incline and decline and are not safe for riding. - No yelling or squealing in the communal / play ground area. This area is for everybody's enjoyment. If your children are yelling and squealing you will all be asked to leave the communal area. - Please supervise your children at ALL times, this is for their safety. Children are not allowed to roam free around the farm without adults. Please ensure your children do not yell, squeal or run whilst around the animals. -Children must be supervised in the communal playground area, The playground is closed for use at 6.pm. - No lighting of campfires. Local Shire and DEFES have very strong rules regarding this, and if lighting of a fire occurs people will be prosecuted by DEFES and the local Shire up to $36000.00 or 3 years imprisonment, -Fabulous communal fire pit open during winter months. No individual site camp fires due to safety of our property, animals and guests. -If you smoke please place your butts in a sealed fire proof container. Please do not leave them on the ground as it is a fire risk and our animals may eat them causing health issues. -No dogs permitted on the property due to our animals roaming free. -You must be totally self contained, own power and water, (3 clean portable toilet and refreshing cold bush shower are available for use in the communal area). -Please take away all rubbish. -No big party groups. -Quiet time from 7.30pm please. Please consider other guests and our neighbours. -Check out of campsite by 11 am please. -If a gate is closed, please close it behind you as will find it very hard to catch an animal that has escaped. - Please do not enter animal enclosures/ paddocks without Jane or Marc. -As we are a farm and you will be in our farm animals home, we ask you to please be kind and friendly towards all of our animals. -You approach all animals at your own risk -Please do not feed the animals any food that has not been given to you by Jane and Marc. -Please drive very slowly through paddocks 10km per hour as animals roam freely. -You will be handed a rules and guidelines policy when you arrive which includes an emergency and evacuation plan. Make sure you read and make yourself very aware of the guidelines, as your safety is very important to us. -Arrival during day light hours is a must please arrival by 6pm, for yours and our animals safety. Bolinda Vale Farm

Located on the foothills of the Darling Range in Keysbrook Western Australia, Bolinda Vale Farm is a real working farm breeding Beef cattle and Merino sheep which has been in the same family since 1926. We offer neat nature based campsites in the gully and all campsites are on the banks of the babbling Dirk Brook with a good distance between campsites for privacy. A great property to reconnect with country Please note, to get to the campsites there is a farm track and for most, a creek crossing. We recommend 4WD or SUV to access ALL campsites. Perfect place for caravans, camper trailers, rooftop tents, tents, swags, vans to various campsites. There are horses and Scottish Highland cattle that usually greet you near the main entrance, and sheep and cattle graze the hill country and surrounds. Plenty more for nature lovers here, including red-tailed cockatoos that flock to the gully to feed on the Marri trees, plus many other birds. The resident Wedge-tail eagles soar above making the most of the thermals created from the hills and the local kangaroos Dogs are welcome but must remain on leads at ALL times as this is a working farm. You MUST bring your own camping toilet and be COMPLETELY 100% self sufficient with everything including drinking water We have a Leave No Trace policy, so ask that you please take all waste with you. Strictly No Pre Booking tours of campsites allowed, a good description and photos of each campsite is available online. ALL campers are to be booked in prior to arriving at the farm. Harmony Retreat

Just 1 hour from Perth, Harmony Retreat is situated on 25 acres at the foothills of the Darling Range Escarpment just 10-15 minutes from Pinjarra and Dwellingup, 7 minutes from the southwest highway, and 3 minutes from Pinjarra-Williams Road. It's an easily accessible and picturesque private property with approximately 7 acres of forest, flushing toilet, hot outdoor shower, a winter creek, a swimmable spring-fed dam, and an abundance of bird and wildlife, nestled between cattle farms in the heart of the Peel region. There are friendly free-ranging chickens, a mischievous mini pig named Peppa (who loves pats), sheep, and a family dog on site. The owners Michelle, Troy, and Carolyne live and work onsite (this is a working farm). THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO PARTY. The camping area is easily accessed by most vehicles. There is a hot water outdoor shower and toilet available to use and within walking distance of each site. The dam on the property is currently unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this property is not recommended for those with small and wandering children. Older children will need to be supervised. Friendly dogs are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times. There are no cooking facilities available for guests at present (this could change in the next couple of months as Troy is notorious for making stuff happen lol... so when it does we'll update the information). Therefore you will need to be completely self-sufficient including washing up bucket, cooker, kettle, esky, etc, and also bringing your own drinking water as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open flames during fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. However, Peppa the Pig will always appreciate your veggie scraps. Fires are permitted in designated fire pits during fire season. Anyone found having a fire during FIRE BANS will be reported to authorities and asked to leave the property immediately (we need to use firm words around this, as bushfire destroys homes and endangers lives). Yurt Abundance in Perth Hills

Abundance yurt is surrounded by trees and birds in the Perth Hills, only 30 mins from Perth CBD. The property comes with its own composting toilet and hot outdoor shower, gas cooker and pot belly stove. Suitable for singles or couples, some smaller dogs may be appropriate (please contact Liza to discuss before booking). Other things to note Moonbeams Yurt is situated at the bottom of a 1 acre property, on a large 48sqm decked area. The yurt is 20sqm in size and the composting toilet and shower are within 10 steps from the yurt entrance. The hot water shower is an outdoor shower with a privacy screen. There is NO power at all, but 1 battery powered light is available, and there is a basic gas cooker provided. There is no refrigeration. Parking is at the top of the property and guests will have to walk down a partially sealed path to arrive at the entrance to the yurt, so good mobility is needed. You will need to bring in refrigeration/Eski, lights and basic cooking camp ware. A wheelbarrow can be provided to get gear from car to yurt. A Double bed is provided. Optional extras are fresh bedding. The pot belly stove is great for the winter, and timber is provided for cold nights. We do not recommend booking during our hottest months, unless you love the heat. This property is great for backpackers or people wanting to see the sites of Perth and surrounds. The train line is close by for people who do not have a car. There are many walks and states forests in the area. We have a two night minimum stay.
