Our property is a 180 year old historic homestead hobby farm with river frontage on the Glenelg River and a wonderful established garden. We have three different listings available at Fulham Homestead: - Fulham Historic Riverfront - Fulham Historic Creekfront - Fulham Homestead Guesthouse Our Guesthouse sleeps up to 8 people and has everything you need for a comfortable stay including two bathrooms and a full kitchen. Unfortunately dogs are not able to stay at the homestead. Our camping sites offer good access for caravans and large motorhomes. All guests staying at the camping listings are required to be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must leave no trace on departure. The camping areas are dog friendly and we also have dogs of our own. You will also get visits from our pet Sheep, local Kangaroos and Wallabies. The Kookaburras will laugh loudly in the mornings and the Cockies will be annoyingly loud some days. This is an ideal base for those that want to do day trips to explore the local area or just plop and drop.

Talisker Homestead

1 site · Lodging1000 acres · Merino, VIC
Talisker is an 11 bedroom, 4 bathroom home at this stage. Initially forming part of the Merino Downs pastoral run (taken up by Francis Henty in 1836). Talisker passed to Francis’s daughter Caroline on the death of Francis in 1889. Merino Downs was one of the first three squatting runs established in Victoria. Following Caroline’s marriage to Angus McLeod, the Talisker Homestead was commissioned by architect Charles D’Ebro prominent for his design of Stonnington (Malvern) and Langi Willie (Skipton). The homestead (circa 1901) is a large U shaped designed Edwardian home of some 26 rooms (not all are available to guests as some parts of the home are undergoing further renovations). Featuring a viewing tower with expansive 360 degree views, elaborate plasterwork, colour leadlights and handsome timber and marble mantles throughout the home. The original garden design is evident with Bunya Bunya pines, a large Oak and a Kurrajong tree. Talisker is named for Angus McLeod’s (please note McLeod and MacLeod are used interchangeably) ancestral seat on the Isle of Skye. Talisker was for centuries a possession of the Clan MacLeod. In 1820 Donald Macleod, 6th of Talisker, sold his interest in Talisker and emigrated to Van Diemen's Land, now known as Tasmania. In 1825, Hugh MacAskill took over the Talisker estate and completed the clearance process begun under his predecessor. Five years later, in 1830, he founded the Talisker Distillery and the legendary Talisker whisky was born.

Autarkia - Self Sufficiency

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents80 acres · Mafeking, VIC
Book our Bell Tent on our wetlands or bring your own tent to camp in a wattle grove (located in our paddock on undulating grassed areas) choosing views of the Grampians or Langi Ghiran. We have 80 acres 77 of which are currently used by the local wildlife and three we are beginning to garden in between renovating. Although the views are spectacular it does get rather dry in late summer/autumn. Our property is situated close to the Grampians National Park and provides a peaceful and secluded base to explore this amazing part of Western Victoria. You will be provided with a small amount of fire wood for a small fire weather permitting. No amenities provided. Please be aware, it can get quite windy at our place from time to time! We are renovating an old farmhouse (please excuse the mess) and taking an abandoned crumbling ruin to a self-sufficient paradise. We would love to have you explore our place and share a story or two about the local area as well as give you tips on the best spots to explore in the Grampians.

Merri Banks Lodge

1 site · Lodging6 acres · Dennington, VIC
We have over 100 years of association with the property as our Mothers family lived in the Merri Banks Historic Farm House next door. Made from sandstone corner stones and Merri Mud Rock it was built C1847-1852. We purchased the land and our brother Peter at Select Architects Geelong designed our environmentally friendly house with double glazing, recycled materials, a worm septic, passive cooling/heating & native plantings. With the beautiful Merri River flowing around, hearing the ocean roar at night and friendly farm animals we are grateful to live in this beautiful corner of the world. Great to host and share with others. A great stop from Great Ocean Road where you will get to witness stunning views, beautiful bird life and see animals over the fences along the way such as highland cattle, Persian painted sheep, angora goats, alpaca, and chickens. Strategically placed where you can witness the sun setting over the river. Please expect to see other guests and hosts- Tiny Home 100metres and Lodge 150meters from Glamping site.
