Each unit consists of a fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs, a fully operational laundry including a washing machine, dryer, and ironing options and several spacious living and dining areas. Each unit has 2 bedrooms with comfortable queen beds and French doors leading to the wide verandahs with a view of the countryside. Unit 2 is fully wheelchair accessible, the bathroom is open plan without barriers, and rails are installed. The bathroom in Unit 1 has a spacious shower alcove with modern amenities. The dining rooms are incorporated in the large kitchens, the living areas have extendable 2 1/2 seater lounges to cater to additional people as well as smart TVs and bookcases with games and books for all ages. The exceptionally wide verandahs surround the entire Homestead and provide 2 separate outdoor settings, a large gas BBQ, and several smaller seating options to enjoy the view from sunrise to sunset. This is a dream for entertaining and feeling at home away from home for any travelers. The Homestead is built adjacent to the AustralianRedGumGallery which is a fully operational woodturning studio and gallery where Jonny does his magic and creates amazing functional art. The gallery also has a pool table and dart board which our guests are welcome to use with care.

A brief history of Ballara...Ballara is the 100-year-old family home built for William and Emilia (Millie) Baker & their five children. Built in 1910, it is understood Millie would not come to Warooka until the house was finished and furnished! Wise woman!William Baker came to Warooka as a young boy in 1884 with his mother, sister and 2 brothers, after the sudden death of his father.In the early 1900s, Will and his brother Alf became storekeepers, trading as Baker Bros. and running 2 stores in Warooka. Will, Alf and younger brother, Tom, also went on to become farmers.William met Millie when she came from Ballarat to visit her sister who lived at Warooka. Millie named her new home 'Ballara' in memory of her home town.A feature of the house is its ornate ceilings, and story has it that visitors came from afar especially to view them.William ran a wheat agency from an office on the front verandah and was also a contact for World War 1 recruitment.In 1927, William sadly died at only 50 years of age, leaving Millie on her own with their 5 children Doreen, Dulcie, William jr. Great farm stay. Very relaxing and quiet. Nice and close to Victor Harbour. Toilet, shower facilities (both exceptionally clean), power, water made things easy. Phone reception and internet not great if this is an issue for you, wasn’t for us. Rob the host is a real gentleman. Loved watching the goats and the highland cows while having a drink by the fire each evening.

On this weekend just gone we had the whole area to ourselves, except for the magpies, highland cows and goats which were all very friendly. 😊 Rob and Tracey were so welcoming and helpful. Our family had an amazing time at Breakaway Farmstay. The kids were thrilled to feed the goats, and there was plenty of space for them to run and explore. Rob was incredibly helpful and welcoming and Moo’s gin distillery was a treat for the adults! We’ll definitely be back.

While our stay here was only for one night, it was the perfect spot for us! Heading to Kangaroo Island we needed a place to stay the night before, we couldn’t have been happier! Moo’s distillery onsite serving pizzas and gin, a playground and farm animals for kids to interact with, toilets and hot showers we couldn’t ask for more!

Rob is a friendly welcoming host. We were only there for one night en route to the KI ferry, but it is a peaceful spot and we enjoyed meeting the goats, sheep and seeing kangaroos grazing. Nice clean toilets and the hot shower was an added bonus.

Absolutely beautiful property, so peaceful & quiet! Lots of space around you to really chill out from busy life. Toilet facilities were immaculately clean! A great distillery within walking distance which was very handy & it overlooked the beautiful farm & the animal's. Hosts were very friendly & very accommodating & nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to come back again!

The best part about the stay was having access to a flushing toilet and shower. Made me feel 10 times better. Next time we come I’ll pack some bathers for the pool. This place is really good for if you have kids as it has a playground and animals. The games room has a ping pong table and pool table.
