Macfarlane is a working Merino sheep and beef cattle operation. It is 24,000 acres (9612 hectares). It predominantly open Mitchell grass downs country with a small acreage of Gidgee scrub. We are on the watershed of the lake eyre catchment system with the murray darling on the other side. We have a wide variety of bird life and native animals.Our seasons vary, sometimes it is drought stricken and others lush. Do not assume by looking at lovely green grass photos that it always look like this. We are new to this game so please be patient as we find our way.We offer accommodation at the shearers quarters and camping.Other than at shearing time our quarters lie idle. The quarters are basic with 8 bedrooms. Each room has 2 beds with a mattress, linen is not provided. There is basic showering and toileting facilities. There is a washing machine. The kitchen has fridges and freezers. There is an oven and a cooktop. There is very limited cooking equipment. It is a 500 metre walk to the house dam. It has commanding views of the surrounding countryside.You can camp or park your campervan/RV at the dam. Feel free to pitch your tent here and simply park your camping vehicle and unwind. This site is dependant on seasonal conditions as to whether or not the dam is full or empty. There are toilets, showers and cooking facilities available at our shearers quarters 500 metres away.

After years of hosting the odd group of people, friends of friends or distant acquaintances - it got us to thinking; there is a reason why they just keep coming back.
We are located 25 minutes south of Cunnamulla, South West QLD.
We offer seclusion, only taking three to four self-sufficient groups at a time ensuring complete privacy, no shared space. Just the real Outback. Weather permitting.
Your only neighbours out here are the wildlife and our stock.
The camping spot is right beside a dam/bore drain, with good access from the main road, wet weather permitting.
We have an endless supply of Gidgee wood around the camp spot, its the third densest wood in the world, which makes it the ultimate firewood for campers!
You can walk, bird watch, fish, swim or just sit back and soak up the country atmosphere.

I loved staying at the Lake Paddock camp site 2… the site is just beautiful, right on the lagoon, easily accessible in my 2WD station wagon. The baths are really something else, being able to bathe in aquifer water is really special, especially after a long drive. The bird life at the lagoon was spectacular. I highly recommend Sarah’s place and I hope to come back soon.

What a small touch of paradise. This is an outback experience everyone must do, laying back in a thermally heated, fresh water bath under a blanket of stars. Add your favourite drink and nibblies on the grazing board provided and you have shared memories that will last a life time. Thank you Sarah…. We loved it.

Amazing hosts and beautiful peaceful location. Our family of four loved the wood fired bath tubs and we selected the options to hire yabbie nets, firewood and half a dozen fresh eggs. We caught yabbies very quickly with the yabbie nets and cans of tuna we’d brought with us to use as bait. The amount of firewood at the site for $20 was very generous and it burnt very slowly so we had excess. Bring marshmallows to roast and enjoy the space and privacy this beautiful campsite offers.

What a beautiful spot amongst the river gums. Louise and her partner were very welcoming and helpful. I had a wonderful time painting, creating and wandering with my dog. The dams were low but this was of little consequence with no mozzies to speak of.

We had a lovely 3 day stay at Francvillers station and would definitely recommend. Sarah is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome on her property. Lively birdlife, relaxing baths and a great outlook, while not being too far off the beaten track.

We loved camping on Francvillers and it was such a tranquil spot to sit in outdoor baths and say goodbye to the day. Sarah was extremely kind and responsive to all messages, making us feel right at home. The wetlands in there were gorgeous and being able to watch all of the birdlife was beautiful. Highly recommend!

Hosts were fantastic and the campsite was peaceful. Loved the tubs and the open space. Loved our 2 night stay and when we comeback this way we will definitely be back. The ample firewood supplied was awesome for our toasty soak in the tub and the eggs golden yolk delish. Would highly recommend for those who want to be off grid away from the crowded caravan parks.
