Our property is roughly 80 acres of secluded land situated on the outskirts of Rockhampton. Only a 5 minute drive to the Gracemere shopping centre, and less than 10 minutes to Rockhampton.
Deadman's Lagoon is a large freshwater lagoon situated in the centre of our hay farm. It is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking. It is a permanent lagoon, however water levels are affected by the amount of local rainfall and are naturally lower in the winter months.
Camp along the bank of the lagoon dotted with gum trees, or choose a wide open space in the paddock. Bird life including pelicans, black swans, bustards, ducks and egrets are frequently spotted enjoying the water.
You will have plenty of privacy as there is no residence on the farm, and the neighbours are some distance away. You may notice us coming throughout the day for general farm duties. We ask that guests stay out of our paddocks and only drive on the road to and from the campground. We'll often drop in to camp to say hello or stock up firewood if we are able.
Campers must be fully self-contained as no facilities or drinking water are available on the property. You are responsible for taking any and all rubbish with you when you leave. Dumping of toilets and human waste on the property is strictly prohibited. The closest free dump point is located at the Information Centre on Gladstone Rd in Rockhampton.
We can accommodate for up to 6 caravans/campers at a time spread out over our campground area which is roughly 5 acres. You are welcome to set up wherever you like within our campground, whether it be along the bank of the lagoon or in the paddock. Please be respectful of others' space when deciding where to set up your camp. Unfortunately due to people leaving rubbish in multiple old fire sites making it unsafe to slash and causes damage to our expensive equipment, we have had to go to a communal fire pit.
Dogs welcome, we just ask that you clean up after them so that the campsite remains clean for other campers to enjoy. There is a dog pen you are welcome to use.
The roads on the property can become boggy in wet weather, and in the case of excessive rainfall we may need to cancel your booking (refund provided in this case).

We loved parking our caravan at Theresa and Russell's place. We recieved a friendly phone call when we arrived a lot later than planned. When we did arrive the sun was setting over their gorgeous property, the orange hues from the sun were lighting up our kids faces and we laid out a blanket to enjoy our dinner on while we watched the stars appear. It was so quiet and we felt so relaxed as soon as we arrived. Theresa and Russell are kind and genuine people and knew when we greet us and have a lovely chat, as well as when to leave us to enjoy the scenery.
It was one night only for us this time but it was special.

Lovely spot and easy to get to, we only stayed for the night while travelling through.
There are some bugs so screens may be necessary. However when we were there we weren’t getting bitten by anything.

Camping under the big gum tree was perfect. That water in the lagoon was amazing. The open view of the sky was wicked we got to watch meteors dropping down into the atmosphere not a very common thing to see living in town with all the lights that are around. Very peaceful camping.

The sunset over the paddock and the fresh water lake was a perfect backdrop to the camp spot. We only stayed one night, as the storm came over during the night, we did have the foresight to move onto the harder surfaced track around the edge of the property, otherwise we would have got bogged. Would recommend for warmer weather stays.

Great place, we stayed at site 1. It is smaller than the others but was still fine with a 15ft hybrid. Grass was well maintained and still had great views of the ocean at the bottom of the hill. Easy to find and close to town to enjoy the cafes and beach.

The view is absolutely breathtaking, nice flat grounds perfect for pitching the tent. The toilets are next level, showers with a view, and toasty warm . But do take the wind seriously if your in a tent. We took our kings awning tent (quick and compact for road tripping) and we blew into a heap, a heavy duty cabin tent with the big metal poles is needed on a day with wind, we will bring our brumby tent next time. Bring extra pegs to peg the children down or they'll blow away too. A fantastic Camp ground and a great spot to base yourself to discover byfield national park, Rockhampton and yeppoon.

Quiet and relaxing.
Camped near the big tree and enjoyed the serenity.
Make sure you actually read directions properly to the property and don’t just follow the coordinates on the map. Lucky I didn’t get divorced when we travelled down the boggy lane and my husband had to reverse the caravan 200 metres.
Emily answered concerns quickly when it started to rain during the night as we were worried about how slippery it might get heading out the next morning. We chose to shift to firmer ground but probably didn’t need to. Slept better though knowing we had. Probably wouldn’t stay there if forecasted heavy rain.
Used the fire pit and provided our own wood.
Enjoyed our first camp using Hip Camp.
