Midskinrick is a 40-acre waterfront property on Baffle Creek in Queensland. 70km north of Bundaberg, 125km south of Gladstone. This little piece of paradise, on the southern bank of Baffle Creek, is a great place to fish from the bank or launch your boat, crab, swim (in our dam), relax and enjoy the peace while watching the wildlife. Choose the unique modern self-contained Lodge or bring your caravan/camper/rooftop/swag/tent and book a camp site. There are 10 large family sized powered sites with a firepit available for each site (no water connection) situated near the dam. Weekend Trip to Bucca Country River Retreat

Absolutely beautiful little modern cabin looking over the Kolan River. Just down the road from the Bucca Hotel. Clean and tidy. Comfortable bed. Nice shower and toilet. Kitchenette with the essentials. Excellent outdoor area with BBQ, sink and bench space. Comfortable seating. Nice fire pit. Sarah and Ronnie were amazing hosts and we will be back again.

The cabin was squeaky clean, well-equipped with a very comfortable bed. Verandah with outdoor setting and barbecue was great. Overlooking the peaceful river and lots of birdlife. I will definitely stay again.

What a lovely little cabin on this beautiful property! Sarah's place was well appointed with the finer fittings making the whole stay feel quite homely. Was the perfect place to watch the sunset from the deck, overlooking the river whilst having a bbq. The large firepit was a great place to see out the night. The whole camp grounds were very well kept. We can't recommend Sarah's cabin or camp grounds enough. 5 stars. We will be back.

The best family-friendly glamping near Bundaberg guide

When to go

Bundaberg is busiest between November and March during the turtle nesting season, but it pays to book campsites as early as possible for any holiday periods. Another good time to visit is July to November, when the waters off Bundaberg come alive with humpback whales as thousands migrate north to mate and give birth, then take the return journey to Antarctica. Bundaberg weather is warm and temperate year-round.

Know before you go

Camping permits are required for all Queensland parks, forests, and reserves, and all must be booked online and paid for before arrival. Make camping bookings as early as possible, especially for dates around Christmas.
Remember to pack sunscreen—the Queensland sun can be fierce. If you are heading to the islands to snorkel or dive, check out sunscreens that won’t damage the coral reefs (those that don’t contain oxybenzone or BP-3).
Book as far ahead as possible for turtle encounters at Mon Repos Conservation Park. Numbers are limited and a waiting list operates most years. On the night of your tour, be prepared to wait up to two hours for turtles to appear on the beach and for your turn to come. It’s worth it!
