Located at the southern foothills of the Ouachita Mountains and the northwestern edge of Lake Greeson, this 6 acre plot of land is part of a gentle hillside that descends into the lake.  Enjoy two trails to Lake Greeson and easily access nearby boat launches, public beaches, parks, and much more!  Come make yourself at home on Bluegill Hill and enjoy the small lake village lifestyle!Fox Nook is a primitive campsite that offers privacy and lots of shade within a young forest of mostly oak and pine trees. There's plenty of space that comes with your booking, so that offers you a few choices on where to set up. Fox Nook is the main attraction, has a small yard table, bbq pit, and fire ring. However, there is also a tiny spot just uphill to Fox Nook with leveled ground that will accommodate a small tent. Then there is the ridge area about 20 yards above Fox Nook. It's part of the road in and is a loop, so it's great for trailers over 12' or any larger setup than what can fit in Fox Nook. The flat ridge is also a great area for vehicle parking. There are two hiking trails that lead to the lake and both require only a few minutes of walking. Kitty Cove trail is the shortest walk, about 2 or 3 minutes, and leads to a secluded cove with two islands. If the lake is very low the islands won't be...islands. Bennet Cove trail is about 4 minutes to walk and joins with a gravel road from a small neighborhood of vacation cabins (and very few full-time residents), so it is possible that this area might have a few friendly folks enjoying the lake. It is a great area to swim and sunbathe on the shale shoreline. After a short distance on these trails, you will be leaving Bluegill Hill's private property and entering public federal land that surrounds the lake. The lake and land surrounding it is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers and their rules apply to aforementioned property. It's open to the public but this area of the lake sees very little traffic and remains a hidden gem. At dawn, nature wakes up. The songbirds sing, occasionally crows visit, and I also have chickens at the top of the hill. The roosters have a powerful voice but the ridge above the campsite and the trees do a great job of deflecting and muffling the sound. The most unnatural sound will be from the occasional semi-truck traveling along the highway. It's a small highway, not a main thoroughfare, and they rarely transport on weekends. All areas along the northern edge of Lake Greeson are close to the highway, luckily Fox Nook is one that is tucked pretty well into the forest but it's not immune to the sound of the occasional semi truck. By 10 a.m. the breeze typically picks up from the south and helps push back any highway noise. *Firewood is available for purchase *Bring your own toilet paper *Bring your own chairs Thank you for considering Fox Nook in Arkansas, the Natural State!

I consider site to be small to medium, however so far it has easily accommodated 4Runner w/13' trailer, and different group had 2 vans as well as car.

Toilet available
Portable toilet. Camp toilet in-site with make-shift privacy tarping. Basic system uses aluminum frame commode, bucket, sawdust and plastic bags. For solid waste only. It's cleaned/sanitized after checkout, then again before check-in. Everything provided except toilet paper. Place bag into bucket, use bungee cord to keep from folding in on itself. Add additional sawdust as needed. Do not allow bag to overfill. Remove used bag when reasonable, place into the holding bucket with lid, then place new bag into toilet-bucket. Add fresh sawdust. If bucket needs cleaning during your stay, just message me, I'm happy to help.
Pets allowed
Off leash. Please keep your pet within range of your return call. Do not allow any animal to venture toward top of the hill, up toward house, as I have freeranging livestock.
No campfires
Bins available
Trash bin. Eventually all trash will need to go to bin at top of hill, by driveway. If you prefer to leave in-site, I'm happy to remove after checkout. Be aware of attracting raccoons with trash buildup and notify me if you leave before checkout date.
No potable water
Bring your own water, purify from spigot. Well water spigot/hose at center of property 400 feet from site.
No showers
Bathe in lake. Well-water is available from spigot near my house. It's located about 200 feet downhill of home, in center of open meadow. You may drive into meadow.
