Another incredible weekend spent at the sugar shack! We spend July 4th there and circled back for Halloween. Feels like two completely different magical places. Colors were wonderful and kept plenty warm by the fire. Outhouse was in great shape, even at the end of the season. They really take pride in this property and it shows. Great thanks for another great stay!

This was my second time at this lovely spot. Beth is a wonderful and accommodating host. The site has everything. I car camped in a Subaru. The site includes a full 18 hole disc golf course. If like me you are not into that, it makes for a nice little walking trail in the woods. I would recommend it to anyone especially in the fall. It is beautiful.
The only thing I would mention is that in the area are both a motorcycle club and a shooting range. Both can be heard. Just something to help set expectations if you are expecting only nature sounds. It wasn’t off putting for me.

The site was wonderfully isolated and the course was fun and challenging for our group's variety of experience levels. Plenty of space for our multiple setups and everything was well-stocked and maintained.
Definitely plan on returning!

Great campsite, a lot of space and privacy. The owners put a lot of nice amenities in like the nice pit bathroom, lights, and the grill. We played multiple rounds of discgolf on our short stay and loved having it on the site. Course is heavily wooded, rough, but fun.

We loved our stay at sugar shack! Beth went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed every moment, she even left birthday ballon’s to welcome us. The property is incredible! The camping area has everything you could possibly need and the outhouse is very clean and well maintained.
Of course the disc golf course was the highlight of our stay! It’s clear the hosts have poured a tremendous amount of time and care into both the property and their guests experience. We cannot wait to come back in the future!

As seasoned campers who’ve explored the USA for decades, I only give honest reviews, and Sugar Shack truly blew us away! This was one of our best camping experiences since the mid-80s—no kidding! The well-maintained facilities, and stunning surroundings created an unforgettable adventure. We especially enjoyed the disc golf course and other fun games provided, which added a fantastic touch to our stay. Beth was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. From the peaceful atmosphere to the starry nights and perfect tent/RV setup, this place exceeded all expectations. If you’re seeking a top-tier camping experience, Sugar Shack is a must-visit. We’re already planning our return!

This place was absolutely perfect for our first anniversary. We were originally planning to stay at a state park, but last minute I found this spot on Hipcamp and decided to give it a try and I’m so glad we did.
The site itself is beautiful, private, and peaceful, with so many thoughtful little touches throughout. The private disc golf course was incredible, definitely a highlight and the outhouse was surprisingly beautiful (yes, really!) and clean.
The hosts were amazing too. We never saw them and the house was a good ways away from the campsite felt very private. Everything was so well set up and taken care of, you could feel the care they put into it. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We left feeling rested, connected, and so grateful we chose this hidden gem. If you’re thinking about booking it, do it. You won’t regret it.

Showed up for a camping trip to celebrate my birthday. Was greeted by a sign and a balloon saying "happy birthday" that was just one of the many tiny details that made our trip phenomenal. The bathroom was super clean, and Beth was super fast to respond to my messages. I will absolutely be coming back!

The set up was so much better than expected. Truly a magical property and experience. So private that we felt like we were in the middle of the woods. The bathroom was so clean and much cozier than others I’ve used on similar campsites. The host left a ton of supplies and goodies in case we needed anything. Close to stores and gas stations while also feeling secluded.

This site was perfect for our needs and made for a fun weekend away from home!
Our favorite parts:
• Toilet and sink available
• Ample space for several large tents
• Shady trees that keep the site feeling cooler on hot days and dryer on rainy ones
• The close proximity to civilization, while still feeling peaceful and private
• Unlimited disc golf on a private course
• A large supply of firewood provided
• Great and thoughtful hosts!

We LOVE this HipCamp! Couldn’t wait to come back this second visit… just wished it was sooner. We will be back again in the spring for sure. It’s truly beautiful and a super good deal for what you get. We loved the new amenities too. And even played disc golf this time! So fun!! I’d love there if I could. The forest is beautiful. 15 out of 10 starts for me.

Sugar Shack Private Disc Golf
Sugar shack is everything that it says it is and more. It accommodated me and all my friends and it was very private. The fact that they have an 18 hole disc golf course on the property is an added bonus. It is centrally located to everything in the Battle Creek area, my friends asked me before we left to be sure to book it again for next year for our Battle Creek adventure. The host gets five out of five stars in my book. Thanks for a great stay.

Awesome private wooded campsite with everything you need,very well thought out.
I was able to make it all the way through trail in a truck camper.Only one narrow part between trees.
Disc golf course was thoughtfully designed and starts near the entrance.
Fun Times would return!

Site was great. It had all the amenities you could want and more. Host was very responsive. Would definitely stay there again. The only thing I would mention, to set expectations, is that this is not “the wilderness”. It is very private and you can’t see any “civilization” from the camp site, but you will hear some road noise, occasional dogs barking etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of stars I could see. With the disc golf course, it would be great for a family camp.

This site is absolutely magical, my second time staying and it just keeps getting better. The communication with the hosts and their swift response to any questions make this place so comfortable. The disc golf course is amazing and has wonderful upkeep. Everything on this trip went so smooth and I can’t wait to plan our next trip, 15 stars out of 10.

Sugar Shack Private Disc Golf
This was my first Hipcamp experience and I am happy it was here. Our entire group had a great time. It's close enough to town if you want to hit a bar or grab some groceries but far enough that you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere on site.
Great space for stargazing a short walk from where you set up your tents. Very challenging disc golf - though I'm a novice but the experienced one in our group agreed - but still fun.
Also, and I'm not sure if we got lucky or this is normal, but the lake nearby was SO quiet. Kayaking on holiday weekends is always a gamble on lakes if they get boat heavy but we were some of the only people out there.
Additionally, the on site bathroom facilities were very well maintained. I'd recommend this Hipcamp site and will definitely be back again.

This is by far the most thoughtful Hipcamp setup I've ever stayed at. 100% secluded in a gorgeous forest, yet the site is chock-full of amenities. Chairs, tables, canopy setup, bug spray, adorable bathroom with toilet paper, firewood (with kindling, fire starters, and gloves!), as well as some miscellaneous stuff in case you forget anything. And that's not to mention the super challenging 18 hole disc golf course snaking through the woods (or hiking trail if disc golf isn't your thing)!
Beth has clearly put a lot of effort into this place and it shows. Highly, highly recommend staying here.

Wow! There is SO much good to say about Beth and her hipcamp! We felt so welcomed in, with a personalized message on a chalkboard at the entrance -- she even left a little gift for our two girls when we got to camp! Everything was so clean, and the spot is BEAUTIFUL, from the magical forked tree to the winding paths. We're not disk golfers, but if we were we would have had a blast, because the course looked very thoughtfully arranged with good challenges and fun little things to look at along the way. And the night sounds! We had a full chorus of tree frogs and crickets that made the night nothing less than magical. So much thanks to Beth for helping to craft this amazing camping experience for us. We only regret that we were in a rush to get to our event, and didn't have more time to soak in, explore, and really appreciate this great spot. If you are looking for a hipcamp in this area, you can't go wrong here! Thank you Beth!!!

The campsite itself was spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of room for our tents and a nice fire pit for evening campfires. The bathroom was clean and conveniently located near our site, which was a plus. The campground owners were helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
But the real highlight of our trip was the disc golf course. The course was challenging yet fun, with a good mix of open fairways and wooded areas to navigate. The baskets were in great condition and the course was clearly marked, making it easy to navigate. We spent hours playing rounds of disc golf, enjoying the beautiful views.

As advertised! Such a great experience. Drove in to the well marked track to the camp past a personalized greeting and found camp clean and ready for action. Ammentities were abundant and we were glad to find a back up air mattress among them. Course is well maintained and we were only interrupted to meet one of our hosts who was diligently grooming the property. The bugs were less at camp than anywhere else we ventured in the area! This should be a boost as we got eating up playing other courses. Stay with these folks! They get it.
....We had to play too and left a book and power cord for ya ; D

We loved camping there. The course they have is soo fun and what a great idea!! Near the city but far back in the woods that you feel like you up north. 10 out of 10 !! Already told a few of my friends. Thank u guys for sharing your piece of heaven!
