There are wild blackberries growing on the banks of the creek under a tall canopy of riparian trees. Cool & inviting during hot summer days. This is a gorgeous peaceful site, off the beaten path but easy to get to. There was lots of open space, creek access for hours of fun for our kids (tons of tadpoles!), beautiful trees and the sounds of various birds plus frogs at night. The amenities are basic—a picnic table, fire pit, and a rustic but darn good outhouse, which were all we needed. Stephen checked in each evening to make sure everything was fine, and otherwise left us alone. There’s only one other campsite, in clear view but not too close. We got to relax and our kids didn’t want to leave. Beautiful 1.5-2 mile hike nearby with interpretive signs to learn about the local habitats. Thank you Stephen!

Ashley & her family group were delightful guests and always welcome back. It's an honor to share our sanctuary with such high quality, respectful people! So happy the children can be in Nature so ecstatically! This is why we are here!!

Dusty with no shade during the day.
Creek is dry.
No charm. Garbage including old abandoned cars strewn about.
Otherwise quiet and peaceful.

Stephen's campsites are in a very large field/meadow that line a beautiful creek. There are a couple RVs that look like permanent residents tucked away from the campsite area. Our campsite was between the creek (maybe 50' away?) and a grove of trees, and about 100 yards from the neighboring campsite. The site had a tire swing hung from the tree, which was a huge bonus for my kiddos!

The weather was hot so we spent most of the time swimming and exploring the creek, which was deep enough at times to swim in and shallow enough in other places to just splash in, and crystal clear. The stars at night were spectacular. Stephen was a great host, super nice and communicative but gave plenty of space as well.

The other campsite is far away but there is a clear view to it, so if you're looking for total privacy that might be an issue. It wasn't an issue for us, since the other campsite was so far away.

My daughters cried when we packed up to leave and asked when we could come back, so we will definitely be back!

We had a great time staying at Stephen's Ranch! It was well maintained, there was space for the kids to run & bike around, and a fun creek to walk along and find rocks, tadpoles, and fish. Host was great about having firewood ready for us and checked-in at social distance (but allowed us space to enjoy camping).
Tips to be aware of:
1. Follow Stephen's directions which were very accurate (unlike GPS that gets you lost!).
2. No cell coverage

There was plenty of space with flat ground to set up tents. There was a fire pit, picnic table and a decent outhouse too. The creek was slow moving and we did not swim. The surroundings weren’t beautiful except at night when the stars came out. I will not return here.

It's true that the creek has been low at this time of year because of the drought. However, it continues to be cold, clear and full of fish. Unfortunate that Jeff was not willing to walk up or down stream to discover some deeper pools for swimming and relaxing under the tall, riparian trees along the creek, as most campers have. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and fortunately most people are able to enjoy the Beauty of the natural surroundings, even if it means stepping away from your Camp for a minute and exploring the area. We will continue to do our best to make our campsites as enjoyable as possible.

It is difficult to respond to someone who is not willing to express more details about their "mixed feelings." we do everything in our power to make the beauty of nature available to our guests. If someone has a problem, we will do our best to satisfy the situation.

Stephen set up a great site for us. The firewood was stacked and the area was clean, clean, and level with a bit of space to stretch out. My only (slight) disappointment was the fact that the borders of the site were not easily discerned and multiple times people walked through our site going back and forth from the creek. All in all a great weekend!
