Joshua trees 50 miles closer to LA than the Joshua Tree National Park!

This is 2.5 acres of protected Joshua Tree lands in the Antelope Valley north of LA, between the snowy Tehachapi Mountains, and the rolling green foothills of the also-snowy San Gabriel Mountains.

My first time out there I saw BOTH ENDS of a rainbow in front of the snowy Tehachapis!! Super dark skies, and a million stars at night.

It feels like the wild west out here. Think long dirt roads, tumbleweeds, and bones from animals of long ago. The property itself is along a "road" called Avenue C, but I'd be shocked if you encountered anyone driving along there. Except possibly another group of campers.

This land used to be the domain of the Ketanemuk tribe, which I think means People From The East. In the summer they would go up and hunt and get pine nuts in the Tehachapi Mountains, and acorns from the oak trees in the San Gabriels.

About a 20 minute drive from the town of Neenach (pronounced Nee-nack), where there's a general store and a cafe. They make a great breakfast burrito.

A few minutes from the State Poppy Reserve, which blooms in the spring with miles of California poppies.

If you have a larger group or event in mind, get in touch! We can figure out how to accommodate you.

Beautiful spot! City lights are very far away and I saw plenty of stars, it was quiet on Friday night but heard some people having target practice maybe a mile or two away on Saturday, sound really carries on the wind out there. Heard coyotes and saw their tracks maybe a half mile from the property, even saw small pup tracks! The Joshua trees were breathtaking, in early November everything was very very dry, so I was careful to keep my fire low. There are no rocks to build up around the fire, but sand worked just fine. Cannot wait to see what it looks like in Spring! Plenty of roads to hike along, didn't see a soul while I was there. The only thing is that people have been disrespectful in the past and there was some trash in the spot I picked, I cleaned up everything I could, but be wary of broken glass if you dig anywhere. I even found an old dead-wood pile that helped keep me warm. All an all, for sure going back.

Amazing site. Super quiet and remote from houses/noises/others. Have already recommended to others.

The spot is private, quiet and good for photos too, in the night and daytime. It is not very easy to locate the property in the night. But overall it is quite good experience.

Awesome place, feels very remote. A little tough if you have a large tent since there's a lot of shrubs and bushes on the ground but other than that, great place to get away and feel like you're far from everything, even if you're relatively close to LA. Also, Levi was very responsive/helpful. Would definitely consider this spot again for a quick getaway.

We really enjoyed camping surrounded by beautiful joshua trees! The 2 campsites are isolated with beautiful stars. Also, the sunset was really lovely with the shadows of the Joshua Trees. The flowers were blooming in the desert which was beautiful. There were a lot of different critters out since it’s May. We saw caterpillars, a lot of butterflies and of course the normal ants, spiders and wasps to be aware of. There is space to set your tent up safely away from the ants which is nice and something to be aware of. You definitely should be aware of desert critters and safety while you camp here. It’s beautiful high desert and not developed. So, you should know desert safety before camping here. I grew up in high desert so it wasn’t a problem for us. It can be tricky to find where you are going because the land isn’t marked. The host is very helpful and responsive though and gives you exact GPS coordinates to follow. We saved google maps and the host has a map of the land borders posted on the listing we saved too. The only criticism I could say is there is trash scattered on the land - old cans, broken bottles, shotgun shells, etc. We packed out everything we packed in, but others have obviously not been that respectful in the past. Overall, if you enjoy desert camping in the middle of nowhere, it’s a wonderful place to camp. We definitely plan to return later in the year!

If you want to get away for some peace, quiet, and fresh air, this is your place! Levi was a great host and quick to respond. The site is very remote and off the beaten path but beautiful - you’re surrounded by Joshua trees, mountains in the distance, and near the poppy field. It was hard to find the location at first, but there isn’t much to find other than a make shift campfire spot . You can really just pull over and camp anywhere. The weather at night was colder and windier than we expected so bring layers. Morning was very warm. Overall, a great escape and wonderful time. Highly recommend !!

The land is beautiful, it's easy to see the stars although there's a little bit of light pollution from nearby towns. Favorite thing was hearing the coyotes at night! The path on to the semi-cleared sites was hard to find at night since it's very overgrown - thankfully there were other campers on the land or we probably wouldn't have found the path and would have had to park out on the road and hike in. (A truck or jeep w/ good clearance could probably just drive in from any point but I was in a car). Had cell service too which was nice.

I stayed for 5 days at this site and I have to say when I first arrived I was a bit disappointed for two reasons One I was hoping it was more remote (did not expect a highway nearby and cell service to work) 2- the location is not that clear and since we had allot of rain there was allot of brush around so it was very hard to find a spot to camp. But when I finally found a spot and as I spent time I began to love the location and it grew on me... the host is easy to contact and very friendly which is a big plus... I would recommend a little up keeping and make a fire pit... it does not cost much... you got a great location that can become a cool get away. I will most likely go back and camp there. Beautiful sun raises and sunsets!

this is a great spot for a safe, socially distant campout under the stars, especially if you live in LA — it’s much closer than actual Joshua Tree. once you’re on the property, you feel totally alone. to pick a site, we followed the tire marks off the dirt road, looping around to a nice, shady stand of trees where others had camped before (two fire pits, etc). the sunset and stars were phenomenal.
that said, this is definitely dispersed camping, not a tidy maintained campsite. bring an extra tarp — there are bugs and prickers that stuck to my silly dog like velcro, although I’m sure it’s because of the season. but if you’re the type of camper seeking dispersed spots in the first place, you’ll be just fine here. we loved it.
