Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation.  Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia.

We have picnic tables and fire rings at each site. If you have a large group, please contact us before booking to ensure that we are able to accommodate your group. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn.

If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground.

Lose yourself in a fairy-tale land. With endless places to explore and amazing natural features at every turn this experience will not disappoint.

Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay.  We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions).

Please be aware that cell phone service is spotty to virtually non-existent. Also it's a good idea to bring waterproof hiking shoes or water shoes since our camping spots may require walking across a low water creek. This campground also requires travel down miles of county maintained dirt roads. Expect your car to get dusty. We are unable to accommodate travel trailers and RVs at this time. Parking at your campsite requires a drive across a low water creek, otherwise you will need to park and walk across. Lastly, bring tick defense for yourself and your pets.

The campground was well maintained. Sam and Michelle went out of there way to make sure we knew where to go, made sure we were comfortable, and gave us the lay of the land so we could explore as well.

Sam and Michelle were great and there site was amazing. Great scenery and an awesome swimming hole; which we took thorough advantage of.

For awareness, while the campground is private, the swimming hole is on public land. Don't be alarmed if the locals start showing up to cool off. Not to worry though, it's big enough to share.

The Red Fern campground was beautiful and serene. Sam and Michelle were super nice and helpful and offered some great suggestions on what to do around the area. The creek runs right through the middle of the campground and leads to the swimming hole. Getting to hear the sounds of the water running from my tent was so nice. My dog and I had a blast wandering through the trails on the property. I will definitely be returning to this lovely place again.

Some notes: Be aware that cell phone service is spotty to virtually non-existent. Also it's a good idea to bring waterproof hiking shoes since some camping spots require walking across the creek if you don't have a 4x4. Lastly, bring tick defense for yourself and your pets.

This was an absolutely beautiful spot with blue butterflies, frogs, birds, and a refreshing swimming hole. I wish I had had more time to explore, so I will have to return one day.
Sam and Michelle were very communicative and kind. I followed them out to the campground from a nearby town. I was not expecting such a long drive on a dirt/gravel road, and when we got there, and I expressed my nervousness about it feeling more remote than expected, especially since I was a woman traveling alone and there was no cell service, Sam and Michelle took plenty of time reassuring me of the safety, not leaving until they were sure I felt comfortable.

It ended up being amazing, so peaceful under a clear night sky. I definitely recommend this spot if you’re passing through the Ozarks!

A beautiful and secluded piece of paradise! Access to a ton of stuff including your own swimming hole. We explored a cave, picnicked on a bluff, and hit lots of trails. Sam and Michelle were amazing. Could not have ask for a better spot for my weekend.

Camp is less than a mile from this trailhead! Kings river falls! We spent hours catching mud bugs and playing in the water. Swimming hole at the campsite. Cave above the campground.

Absolutely loved this campsite. Sam and Michelle were wonderful. There had been flooding prior to us coming down and they were great with communication as to how the water level was and us being able to cross over to the campsite. Highly recommend this place. Such a beautiful area. We will DEFINITELY be coming back.
