A night at The Nest is worth it for the night sky alone. The property is well maintained and yes, this is roughing it, but everything was clean, including the outhouse and outdoor shower. The road is rough to get to the property is definitely rugged, want a 4WD vehicle. Bring fruit and veggies to feed the llama, alpaca and donkey.

I absolutely loved staying at The Nest! It was very clear that Shane put a lot of love and care into creating a welcoming and beautiful place. Every little detail was thought out and special (including the bathroom! - so clean and cute!). The camper was adorably decorated and was super comfortable - like really really comfortable. As I fell asleep, I could see the stars through a little window in the ceiling. The animals are great conversationalists - we chatted for quite some time. Again, I loved every minute I spent at The Nest, which felt like its own sweet little alternate reality. Really soothing for the body and soul. Can't wait to go back and try out the bus next time!
If you’re considering booking this Hipcamp, do it! Traveled from Texas to do some glamping and visit the Grand Canyon. This place is just far enough out to get some rural privacy and still be just a short drive (around 35 minutes) to the Grand Canyon and the nearby quaint town of Williams. Shane gives you just the space you need to feel like you’re really on a getaway vacation while also making sure you’ve got everything you need and your stay is comfortable. There’s a chiminea so if you want to make your own authentic camp meals, you can... but there’s also a kitchenette, so you can easily cook your meals there too if that’s more up your alley! Perfect mix of camping and glamping. We weren’t anticipating it to be snowing, but the heater in the camper worked really well and the site was BEAUTIFUL covered in snow. Shane even made sure the roads had been broken in a little so us inexperienced snow drivers felt safe leaving the camp site. This Hipcamp is a true diamond in the rough... we’ll definitely be back.
My friend and I stayed here in December for two nights and loved The Nest!! It was the perfect balance of camping and having enough accommodations to stay warm in the winter. We drove a high clearance RAV4 without 4 wheel drive and had no problems getting to the site, but we weren’t able to get up the hill out of the campground so we took an alternate route out. If you don’t have 4 wheel drive you should be okay unless it’s snowy or muddy in which case I’m not sure, but the alternate route out was pretty flat. There were so many thoughtful touches, including tools to help make fire (lighter fluid, pokers, s’mores sticks, kindling) and a lot of food supplies in the kitchenette (seasonings, pans, hot water readily available, fresh eggs, and more!), water and a lantern in the trailer, and more. The chiminea was great and we made a fire in it and cooked food in it, but the stove in the kitchenette also worked perfectly! There were two heaters in the trailer, one propane one attached to the wall and a smaller Mr. Buddy Heater that both worked well. The lighting in the trailer was minimal even with the lantern provided, so if you’re used to more light definitely bring your own lantern and flashlight. We brought extra blankets and wore lots of layers to keep warm and had an amazing time! I would definitely recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back and see how The Nest develops in the future!!
Highly recommend this space to those who are in need of adventure. Also, by staying here you are supporting the beautiful dreamers and creators of this wonderful getaway! I will be sure to stay here again:)
