Bald Mountain Campground is a treasure chest brimming with jewels of nature! Not only are there beautiful views and interpretive signage to get the wheels of your brain moving, but Bald Mountain Campground is also located along the Medicine Wheel Passage Scenic Byway, and the National Historic Landmark is nearby at four miles away. This unique geoglyph signifies all creation, all races of people, birds, fish, animals, trees and stones. According to tribal beliefs, the circular shape of the wheel represents the earth, sun, moon, cycles of life, seasons and day to night. If it’s gold you’re looking for in these hills, hike through the open meadows and along the cliffs to explore the area’s historic mining sites. High Country Lodge is nearby, offering guided horseback riding and backcountry pack trips, off-road vehicle rentals and guided fishing trips.
