If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The G Farm was a great location! It is located close to a highway, but the campsite is over a hill providing great sound privacy. The site is large, and could fit some tents in addition to the tiny house, if the host would be okay with it! Be sure to bring a thick sleeping pad or cot for the tiny house. The tiny house would fit 1-2 people best. You are able to interact with the farm animals if you want, but they do not bother you if you don't want! Justin is a great host that gave a wonderful tour of the farm!
We will be back.
I read a lot of reviews, so I will write this as if it was for me:
- If you’re considering booking a stay at the G Farm, do it. You won’t regret it.
- Everything we expected and more.
- Tiny house: Just big enough for two. We moved a few things around and got a small-ish queen air mattress on the floor. Has 3 outlets, indoor lights, outdoor patio light and security light, and a small electric heater (that we used because it got cold at night). A screened window on the door, and it locks from the inside for security at night. A small Weber grill and charcoal is provided, but we did not use it.
- Pond: Beautiful sunsets, two canoes, a paddle boat, 3 docks, about 100 feet from the tiny house. Tons of panfish, but also caught a small walleye, 10+ perch, and a largemouth bass. Used my own fishing gear but there is some provided.
- Outhouse: Clean, real toilet seat, TP provided, private.
- ANIMALS: Pigs, turkeys, chickens, cows and most importantly, Otis and Baker; the two farm dogs. Otis is a 9 month old, 95lb good boy, and growing. He hung out with us most of the weekend and we loved it. Justin and Kim gave us an awesome tour of basically the whole property and allow you to wander and roam as you please. Grab a beer and go walk around the farm, say hi to the pigs, and enjoy the land.
Justin and Kim were amazing hosts who really care about their farm and want you to really enjoy your stay. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about the experience. The one slight downside (but not really) is that you can hear some highway noise. If you can get over that, you will have a great time.
Few last things: Don’t forget to stop at their farm store and buy some eggs, beef, pork, or veggies from their garden. Also, there is plenty of room to set up a few tents on the site, and there is a garbage barrel and wood provided for campfires. We didn’t have a good one because it was pretty wet during our stay.
We will definitely be back and we highly recommend it. Thanks again to the G farm!
Close to home!
What a great night! I tried “camping” on my own for the first time here and it was great. He provided a grill with briquettes and homemade fire starters! You have your private pond (which he gives you canoes and a paddle boat to use!). I’m not a fisher but that pond is full of fish and he provides fishing poles too. The house was cute and slept one. Make sure to bring a thick mattress pad or blow up mattress.
One downfall is that you can hear the highway traffic so it doesn’t feel secluded. However, not a big deal given all the other perks AND how close it was to home. Would go back again!! Thanks Justin!!
A+++ wish i lived here!
Perfect. Perfect. Perfect! This was exactly the get-away I needed and hope that I may return. Justin was happy, kind, helpful and on-time. And he was very informative. I instantly felt comfortable and safe here, and I had a blast! I brought my paddleboard and used it on the pond in the mornings (waving "hi" to the cows and watching the fish swim), and got out my camera for some night sky shooting when the sun went down. The tiny house is super comfy and warm, and roomier than I would have guessed too. And there is even an outhouse! If you want to get away from it all you should stay here - you will feel welcomed, safe, and relaxed for sure!
Perfect weekend retreat
I can't say enough good things about The G Farm. This was our first experience using HipCamp and it was amazing. We will definitely be using the app again and if Justin will have us, we'll definitely be back to The G Farm.
The property was well maintained and the camping area was private. We spent the weekend wandering around the property, taking both the canoes and the pedal boat out on the private lake, and interacting with the animals.
Justin and Kim gave us an impromptu tour of the property and their operation. It's amazing how much they do to create a sustainable farm. Their store has a wide variety of produce and meats. Next time we would definitely grab some at the beginning of our stay to cook on the Weber grill down at the site!
The tiny house had electricity and a space heater for extra chilly nights. Justin provided life jackets, paddles, charcoal, fire starters, fire wood, there's a bench built by the fire barrel, and there's a picnic table. The outhouse was clean and well maintained. Honestly, we had everything we could possibly need down at the site.
I couldn't leave this review without mentioning the farm dogs, Baker and Otis. They were absolutely amazing and very well behaved. Otis was a delight and made our trip that much better.
