Wild, Wonderful Riverfront Camp
Beautiful Spot, Long Steep Walk In
It was a beautiful spot by the river, but was more of a hike in camping spot than a spot you can drive into. The trail in had no gravel and we only drove our cars part of the way down, but had LOTS of trouble getting them out. I don't recommend anyone without 3 wheel drive taking their vehicle part of the way down. It is a VERY steep hill to hike items in and out of the campsite. The campsites were fairly small so larger tents would block the walkway to the second camping spot. I would recommend renting both campsites because if there is another group renting the other campsite, they will have to walk through the other site to get there. I would also suggest bringing some wood with you for the fire pit if you're going to be there more than one night. There wasn't enough wood for more than one night.

Wild, Wonderful Riverfront Camp
Great place to unplug
Kelvin's primitive campsite on the water exceeded our expectations. It was a very private, beautiful spot on the crystal water of Cacapon River. There was wildlife galore. One of our friend's, an avian enthusiast, was quite impressed with the diversity of birds. The camp is also perfectly situated as a takeout spot for a lazy river tube ride from a nearby charming store called Sleepy Creek located four minutes down the road. We look forward to returning!
Wild, Wonderful Riverfront Camp
Wild river, steep hill
As the title suggests, this land is indeed wild and beautiful. You fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the river and the trees create a natural shade so sleeping in is possible even in a tent. Very little light pollution so star gazing is gorgeous at night.
However, I would not book this site again. The path leading to camp is a very, very, very steep hill. I’m not sure *any* car could actually make it all the way to the campsite. Our 4-wheel drive vehicle got nearly stuck and we only drove it halfway down the hill. Which means that you are hand carrying all your supplies up and down a massive hill to get in and out of the site. Also the sites are very small. My party booked both sites (we were 6 people) which worked out but I cannot imagine sharing that space with another group. The biggest issue was that to arrive at campsite 2 you need to trundle directly through -indeed grazing tents!- of campsite 1. If you book, book both and be prepared to hike your stuff in.
