Looking for a personal retreat or get away ? Escape to our beautiful, RUSTIC 32 acre wild homestead / farm. What do we mean by "rustic" ? The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, and re-connecting with the land. Our campsites do not have electricity and there is no wifi on the land. Campsites are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site because of the trees. Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (Please note that the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods). We love dogs...but please leave them at home.

Tiny Treehouse on the Farm

We were two middle-aged friends wanting a little adventure, and the treehouse fit the bill. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck with the moon above us through the trees. The place is conveniently close to Shepherdstown, where we ate, but felt peaceful and somewhat woodsy. The bed is just a thin futon on wooden planks, so I won’t say it was super comfortable, but it would be probably be nice with a pad. We appreciated having a screened roomed to sleep in, and the decorations added a homey touch.

Would 100% come again!

Such a lovely campsite! Beautiful location and grounds; we loved getting the chance to check out everything :) Beware for those using Apple Maps as the directions send you down the wrong driveway, but if you go just a little further you'll see the sign Thank you all!

Lovely Spot In The Woods

Small sweet spot!

Nice and off the beaten path, the tent campsites are nestled in small green ground covering and trees. 3 tent campsites make rhis the perfect retreat for some quiet time. Wish we were there when all the herbs and flowers bloom, as I am sure it is beautiful! Even heard the hawks, mooing cows and braying donkey nearby alomg with an occasional scurrying rabbit! Very close to Shepherdstown and the C&O path! Hillary was a very nice host!

Cosmic Cottage

Glamping with the wildlife!

We loved hanging out at Hillary’s place! It was quiet, the stars were so bright and beautiful, and every structure or building was so well designed with the environment in mind. It was so cozy and remote while still enjoying the amenities of the toilets, running water, and electric! The place had such wonderful welcoming nature, we saw deer, bunnies, birds, a friendly dog and cat. It was really cold & wet weather, but we are already looking forward to our next trip and seeing everything in bloom! Thank you so much for hosting!

Tiny Treehouse on the Farm

Amazing Treehouse

Our 2nd visit to Sacred Roots. First trip we tent camped & it was private and relaxing. We just took a “mini-moon” honeymoon to the treehouse we saw on our first visit….Amazing! Super private with beautiful views…Hillary is very kind & welcoming. 100% recommend !!!!
