We are a small, mostly off grid homestead farm with chickens, ducks, pigs, and bunnies, located 1.25 miles off the paved road, over 2 miles from the nearest residence. Our hideaway farm is 80 acres centered on the convergence of two babbling creeks, in a valley between three mountains. We are happy to teach you about our homestead lifestyle or set your campsite and just relax. Our Main Circle is where our bonfires, cabana, and home trailer is. You are welcome to camp at the Main Circle where we have electricity and Wifi or you can camp elsewhere.
Campers are encouraged to camp at Kolb Field along Coon Creek, under a great-grandfather walnut tree or hike the mountain and set camp secluded away from everyone. We have a public dirt road that is seldom traveled through the property, we do suggest having an SUV or 4x4 when coming but, regular cars can get here and we can help you get to your site in our pick up truck. RVs and non-4x4 cars can only get to the camp area during dryer times of the year, please ask if you have a RV. If you have a car that can't get to Kolb Field because of high water, we do have other areas you can camp at.
Because we are mostly off grid we do ask that what you pack in please pack out, take your trash with you. Be sure you bring your own mess kit and cup. We prefer that you use aluminum cans for you beverages so we can recycle them for you, we can not recycle plastic or glass. Plus we like to be sure there not broken bottles left behind se we can be bare foot!
We are very dog friendly you are welcome with your dog. Our two dogs are free roaming and will come and visit you, they love to play with guests! If you feel this may be a problem for you please let us know and we will leash them so not to be a bother. Please don't feed the dogs or other animals unless you ask us first, thanks!

Perfect kick off to summer 2019
This was exactly what we wanted! Primitive, private, such gracious hosts! We arrived super late and were still escorted safely to our site, near the babbling creek in a nicely cleared meadow. Plenty of downed wood for a fire. We will stay here every time we come down this way. I almost hope it stays our secret!
This location is beautiful, very private, and an overall great place to camp!! I camped alone with my dog and felt safe. Both Nik and his wife were awesome. They went above and beyond. When I ran out of brake fluid they kindly grabbed me some for my trip back home and also gave me some yummy food during my trip!!
Wow! we had the best time! Nik He took us around his property and showed us where there used to be a church. We ate dinner with him every night around a fire. I didn’t want to leave. (But we already stayed longer then we had said) hubby had to go to work. It was amazing. I wish I would of took more pictures I was just so interested in what he was saying and everything around I didn’t even think about of photos. Went to a strangers home and left with a new friend. Hard to find ppl like Nik. Thank you again for all your hospitality and kindness.
I didn't make it all the way there partly because I didn't read the details of Nik's directions on their site very well and partly because I kind of panicked when I started losing cell phone coverage. once I got headed in the right direction.
I later discovered that they do have some kind of internet connection that would have worked for me - I can't be out of range because of work but at that point I was back on the highway and long gone. :(
However, II do believe it is a great place. The drive to it was spectacular. If I go by there again I will definitely make a point of stopping there.
Our little spot was perfectly secluded! Plenty of space and no frills, just like we wanted. Our hosts were amazing! They hung out with us at our fire and we ended up down at their place the next night to visit. They were very gracious as well. Helped with firewood, made some pulled pork and brought us a container full, and let my kiddos feed and pet their pigs and bunnies. We will definitely return!
West virginia wonder
I’m not sure I’ll ever have enough words to describe my stay at Coon Creek Cove.
If I had to choose one word, MAGICAL.
We got to camp in Kolb Field right next to the crik (creek) as frogs chirped us to bed and singing birds awoke us in the morning.
Outhouse is right in the field. Not a walk at all.
Nik and Beth are salt.of.the.earth. You don’t meet many folks like them. We had a private concierge one night - Beth drove us to our spot as the rain started to come down. Their sweet sweet kind gentle furry friends, Bindy and Ginger, are always at the entrance to greet you.
Their homestead is a slice of WV pie. If you’re in the state of West Virginia, even if you’re miles and miles away, make a point to come here. Watch the bunnies eat, take walks along the miles of bees suckling wildflowers, share stories around the bonfire, and have the stars above to guide you home.
