We are a small, mostly off grid homestead farm with chickens, ducks, pigs, and bunnies, located 1.25 miles off the paved road, over 2 miles from the nearest residence. Our hideaway farm is 80 acres centered on the convergence of two babbling creeks, in a valley between three mountains. We are happy to teach you about our homestead lifestyle or set your campsite and just relax. Our Main Circle is where our bonfires, cabana, and home trailer is. You are welcome to camp at the Main Circle where we have electricity and Wifi or you can camp elsewhere.

Campers are encouraged to camp at Kolb Field along Coon Creek, under a great-grandfather walnut tree or hike the mountain and set camp secluded away from everyone. We have a public dirt road that is seldom traveled through the property, we do suggest having an SUV or 4x4 when coming but, regular cars can get here and we can help you get to your site in our pick up truck. RVs and non-4x4 cars can only get to the camp area during dryer times of the year, please ask if you have a RV. If you have a car that can't get to Kolb Field because of high water, we do have other areas you can camp at.

Because we are mostly off grid we do ask that what you pack in please pack out, take your trash with you. Be sure you bring your own mess kit and cup. We prefer that you use aluminum cans for you beverages so we can recycle them for you, we can not recycle plastic or glass. Plus we like to be sure there not broken bottles left behind se we can be bare foot!

We are very dog friendly you are welcome with your dog. Our two dogs are free roaming and will come and visit you, they love to play with guests! If you feel this may be a problem for you please let us know and we will leash them so not to be a bother. Please don't feed the dogs or other animals unless you ask us first, thanks!

We LOVE to Bar-B- Que! We offer on special weekends, mostly holidays to join us for BBQ dinner at the Main Circle. You will notice a slightly higher price for camping on these nights, that compensates us for your dinners. These Holidays are some of the best times to visit if you like to socialize around a camp fire! Below is a schedule of some of these special nights...

Memorial Day, we have a discount code for you for 50% off for all Military, and First Responders! Ask us for it before booking!

June 20th / Gassaway Days, Anniversary of West Virginia 1865, Our local town has a big street festival, car show and live music, super fun!

4th of July Week / Freedom Week, Ten days from the Friday before to the Sunday After the 4th, one day for each of our 10 Amendments in the Bill of Rights. We try to do daily themes for each Amendment. Of course there will be fire works!!!

Labor Day Weekend, Union Workers get a 50% discount. We have a discount code for 50% off, ask us for the code before booking. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed!

Halloween, Great to play hide and seek in the woods and scare the crap out of your kids!

Thanksgiving / Deer Hunting Season, You can come hunt and have a BBQ'd Turkey dinner with us with all the trimmings!

INSTANT BOOKINGS and SAME DAY, Please take note, we may miss your message because we may be out on the property and not be connected. If we don't respond don't fear, the directions are accurate, please see the map. You are welcome even if we don't get right back to you, come on down and see us!

Covid-19 Certification Note: We expect that all guests set their site with the maximum space possible from other guests. Kolb Field, our central camping area is about a half an acre. We have areas that you may camp where you can be isolated from other guests if you choose. All Guests are welcome to be social in our Main Circle common area, we ask that you practice basic social distancing. Hand sanitizer is available at all out houses and are cleaned frequently. There is a hand wash station at our well with soap.

The first impression was a little bit strange, but when we met Nick everything changed and we felt really good. He was so friendly with us and our son, explained us a lot of things and let us meet all the animals. We had to leave early as it started to rain a lot, it was a pity!

This was exactly what we wanted! Primitive, private, such gracious hosts! We arrived super late and were still escorted safely to our site, near the babbling creek in a nicely cleared meadow. Plenty of downed wood for a fire. We will stay here every time we come down this way. I almost hope it stays our secret!

This location is beautiful, very private, and an overall great place to camp!! I camped alone with my dog and felt safe. Both Nik and his wife were awesome. They went above and beyond. When I ran out of brake fluid they kindly grabbed me some for my trip back home and also gave me some yummy food during my trip!!

Wow! we had the best time! Nik He took us around his property and showed us where there used to be a church. We ate dinner with him every night around a fire. I didn’t want to leave. (But we already stayed longer then we had said) hubby had to go to work. It was amazing. I wish I would of took more pictures I was just so interested in what he was saying and everything around I didn’t even think about of photos. Went to a strangers home and left with a new friend. Hard to find ppl like Nik. Thank you again for all your hospitality and kindness.

I didn't make it all the way there partly because I didn't read the details of Nik's directions on their site very well and partly because I kind of panicked when I started losing cell phone coverage. once I got headed in the right direction.

I later discovered that they do have some kind of internet connection that would have worked for me - I can't be out of range because of work but at that point I was back on the highway and long gone. :(

However, II do believe it is a great place. The drive to it was spectacular. If I go by there again I will definitely make a point of stopping there.

We were looking forward to hosting you. Sorry for the delay responding to your message, we were out working on the farm away from our phones. Hope to meet you next time you are in the neighborhood!

Our little spot was perfectly secluded! Plenty of space and no frills, just like we wanted. Our hosts were amazing! They hung out with us at our fire and we ended up down at their place the next night to visit. They were very gracious as well. Helped with firewood, made some pulled pork and brought us a container full, and let my kiddos feed and pet their pigs and bunnies. We will definitely return!

We had such a wonderful time spending the weekend with you and your family!!!! We are so happy that it is a place to come together in these difficult times and that you enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed you! We always give everyone their space but love when we can connect as well! We'll have the fire going when you come again!

I’m not sure I’ll ever have enough words to describe my stay at Coon Creek Cove.
If I had to choose one word, MAGICAL.
We got to camp in Kolb Field right next to the crik (creek) as frogs chirped us to bed and singing birds awoke us in the morning.
Outhouse is right in the field. Not a walk at all.
Nik and Beth are salt.of.the.earth. You don’t meet many folks like them. We had a private concierge one night - Beth drove us to our spot as the rain started to come down. Their sweet sweet kind gentle furry friends, Bindy and Ginger, are always at the entrance to greet you.
Their homestead is a slice of WV pie. If you’re in the state of West Virginia, even if you’re miles and miles away, make a point to come here. Watch the bunnies eat, take walks along the miles of bees suckling wildflowers, share stories around the bonfire, and have the stars above to guide you home.

Omg, your kind words just brought me to tears. We have loved having you, and if I could keep you here, I really would! I love that you have treated our land as your own and that you enjoyed your stay! I think we were the lucky ones when it came to you! Here as strangers and left as family! Ginger and Bindi look forward to your next visit as much as we do!!!! (And everyone normally picks Bindi, so Ginger probably enjoyed the spotlight! Lol!)
